226: "Empresses in the Palace" is about to start filming!

After flirting, passion inevitably follows.

With the tipsiness taking over, both of them already had those thoughts, so naturally, they didn't suppress anything.

As a result, they started even before the dining table could be cleared.

And so, they stayed up all night.

The next day, waking up in bed, Chen Le received a call from Gang Zi.

“Old Chen, have you finished writing the script for the new series?” Director Xu Gang's boisterous voice rang out.

A few days ago, Chen Le said he would finish it as soon as possible, and his progress had been quite fast.

Estimating it was about time, he called to ask.

“Not yet, almost. Wait a few more days and I'll give it to you. Don't worry.” Hearing Director Xu Gang's voice, Chen Le perked up a bit and replied.

“Alright. Old Chen, why does your voice sound a bit weak?” Hearing Chen Le's voice, Director Xu Gang noticed he sounded somewhat listless.

“Ahem, I just woke up. Of course I sound like this,” Chen Le said quickly.

“Just woke up? It's afternoon already. Did you not sleep, Old Chen?”

“Actually, the script can wait. You don't have to push yourself so hard. Write it slowly; I'll take a few more days off then.” Thinking Chen Le had stayed up all night writing, Director Xu Gang hurriedly advised him.

Seeing this, Chen Le understood what Director Xu Gang meant and felt a bit embarrassed.

It wasn't because he stayed up writing; it was because he played too wildly with Yang Mi yesterday and was drained, leaving him feeling a bit weak.

Of course, he couldn't say that, so he smiled and said, “It's fine. There wasn't much left anyway. After I finish this script for you, I have to start on the script for a new movie.”

“A new movie? Old Chen, what are you going to film for the new movie?” Hearing Chen Le's words, Director Xu Gang's curiosity was instantly piqued.

“I haven't decided yet. It'll probably be another comedy,” Chen Le replied.

He knew what he wanted to film, but he couldn't say it yet.

“Another comedy?” Director Xu Gang was a bit surprised but could understand.

After all, both of Chen Le's movies that broke the one billion box office mark were comedies. Except for Hello, Mr. Tree, which wasn't really a comedy, all the other movies Chen Le filmed were comedies.

So, it was normal to film genres he was familiar with.

However, what he didn't know was that Chen Le chose this one simply because he felt it could make money.

Most of the profitable movies in the next few years would be comedies; other genres would come later.

As for why he didn't film the later ones, the technology of this era had to be able to keep up.

Without that technology, how could he handle special effects?

Current domestic special effects teams were still far behind compared to the future.

He could only start with comedies, which were easier to film, as a transition.

“Yeah, I think comedy movies have a good market,” Chen Le nodded with a smile.

Hearing this, Director Xu Gang said nothing more.

Because he knew Chen Le's capabilities.

Then, Director Xu Gang hung up the phone.

Beside him, Yang Mi had long been awake.

When Chen Le's ringtone rang, she woke up along with him.

Luckily, Chen Le didn't use the speakerphone; otherwise, it would have been embarrassing if Yang Mi had heard.

“Old Chen, who was that on the phone?” Yang Mi asked curiously.

“It was Director Xu Gang, asking how the script is coming along,” Chen Le said with a smile.

“Then what's the deal with the new movie you mentioned?”

“I'm just preparing to film a new movie. Once I finish the script for the tv series Director Xu Gang is going to direct, I'll start preparing for the new movie's shoot,” Chen Le said.

“I see,” Yang Mi nodded.

Given Chen Le's current pace, it would be at least two months before he started filming the movie.

Since it would be the Lunar New Year in two months, it would likely start after the holidays. Thinking this, Yang Mi wasn't in a hurry anymore.

She had originally wondered if Chen Le was about to start a new project, but calculating it now, it was still quite a while away.

At that moment, Yang Mi's stomach suddenly growled.

She took out her phone and saw it was already twelve o'clock.

Chen Le also heard Yang Mi's stomach growling and teased with a smile, “What's wrong? Mi Mi, are you hungry? Didn't I feed you enough yesterday?”

Hearing this, Yang Mi immediately understood the double meaning. Her face flushed, and she said, “Right, you still need to work harder.”

Seeing this, Chen Le felt challenged.

So he pulled Yang Mi into his arms.

Seeing this, her previously smug expression instantly turned into panic.

“Old Chen, stop it. Let's get up.”

Chen Le ignored her.

As a result, an hour later, Yang Mi begged for mercy, and only then did they finally get out of bed.

Just as they stepped out of the room, they saw the uncleared dishes and leftovers on the dining table, along with the mess nearby.

“Mi Mi, it looks like we have to do some cleaning.” Chen Le rubbed his nose, looking at Yang Mi with embarrassment.

Yang Mi gave a soft response, her face slightly red. Seeing the mess, she immediately thought of last night.

Then, the two went to wash up.

By the time they finished, it was already past three in the afternoon.

Having not eaten lunch, Yang Mi dug out some snacks. Usually, she wouldn't even look at them, but now she ate whatever she could find. When famished, she wasn't picky at all; everything tasted delicious.

Chen Le was the same. After eating, they cleaned up the mess they had left behind before starting to prepare dinner.

A few more days passed, and Chen Le finished the script for the legend of zhen huan and sent it to Gang Zi.

At home resting, Director Xu Gang received the script, his face full of joy.

He had waited so long and finally had the script.

He immediately sat at his computer, opened the script, and began reading.

He read for several hours before finishing the entire script.

He took a deep breath. The quality of this script was very high; Gang Zi hadn't expected Chen Le to actually give this script to him to direct.

After all, he had been a director for over two years, so he could naturally tell a good script from a bad one.

In fact, after being under Chen Le for so long, he felt that many other directors' scripts were subpar; his standards had been raised significantly.

In this script, Chen Le also marked which actors Director Xu Gang needed to invite, and Zhang Li could be tasked with finding them.

the legend of zhen huan was different from living buddha ji gong; many of the actors needed for it were already somewhat famous.

However, Director Xu Gang was no longer the unknown minor director he once was.

The massive success of living buddha ji gong had made him somewhat famous in the industry.

Especially since he was a director under Chen Le's company, his reputation had grown even more.

If he invited people for a new project, those actors likely wouldn't refuse; after all, it was a huge opportunity.

Thinking this, Director Xu Gang immediately called Zhang Li and told her to invite the actors for the new project.

Zhang Li agreed upon hearing Director Xu Gang's request.

There were many lead actors for the legend of zhen huan, including Sun Li, Chen Jianbin, Cai Shaofen, Jiang Xin, and others. Inviting these actors wouldn't be easy; they would have to see when they were available.
