126: Bring Mimi home for Chinese New Year!

In a lecture hall at the Beijing Film Academy, Wang Baoqiang was still lecturing.

The content he taught was all practical advice on acting.

Actually, it couldn't really be called a lecture, as he didn't know how the teachers at the Beijing Film Academy usually taught.

He could only talk about how he himself approached acting.

However, his method of acting was somewhat different.

For example, acting is divided into two schools: Method Acting and Representational Acting.

Clearly, Wang Baoqiang belonged to the former; once he had experienced the character, he could portray them well.

Meanwhile, actors from professional backgrounds like those at the Beijing Film Academy belonged to the Representational School, acting for the sake of portraying the character.

Thus, Wang Baoqiang's lecture benefited the students of the Acting Department immensely. Hearing an acting method so distinctly different from the school's curriculum, they were all blown away.

It turned out acting could be done this way; it sounded even simpler than what they heard in their usual classes.

Wang Baoqiang's lecture lasted for two hours. After the class ended, the students still wanted more.

Many students even seemed to have an epiphany, gaining a lot from this single session.

On the podium, Wang Baoqiang picked up a bottle of water from the edge of the desk, unscrewed the cap, and began to drink.

After lecturing for the whole class, his throat was parched, but he hadn't dared to drink water during the session and had to wait until now.

At this time, the students began to leave one after another.

As they walked, they discussed the content of the lecture.

"The things Teacher Baoqiang taught are really easy to understand. Even a poor student like me understood quite a bit."

"Exactly. These are all Teacher Baoqiang's own acting experiences. Hearing him put it this way makes me feel like acting isn't that difficult after all."

"I feel like I'm saved for this year's final exams; I might not fail after all."

Most of the students soon left, and Wang Baoqiang went into the office behind the lecture hall.

Dean Wang and the others had already been waiting for a long time.

"Wang Baoqiang, your performance today was truly excellent. I was worried you might get stage fright, but I didn't expect you to handle it so effortlessly," Dean Wang praised with a smile.

Wang Baoqiang's performance today had indeed exceeded his expectations.

After all, he had only debuted less than two years ago and was only a few years older than these Beijing Film Academy students.

He could be considered a peer.

"Dean Wang, you flatter me. Actually, I was quite nervous at the beginning, but after I started treating the place like an empty room, I wasn't nervous anymore," Wang Baoqiang said bashfully upon hearing Dean Wang's praise.

Hearing this, Dean Wang laughed heartily. "That's a good method. If I ever get nervous, I'll have to try it too."

Beside him, Zhang Songwen also offered a smiling compliment. "Baoqiang's performance today was much better than mine on my first day at the Beijing Film Academy. During my first class, I even forgot half of what I was supposed to say."

"Yes, Baoqiang's performance is much better than ours when we first started teaching," Cui Xinqin chimed in with a smile.

Wang Baoqiang felt a bit lightheaded from the praise. After all, who doesn't like hearing good things?

Let alone praise from several seniors.

"Baoqiang, if you have time, could you come and lecture these students more often? We'll definitely make sure you're well compensated," Dean Wang asked with a beam.

"Sure!" Wang Baoqiang nodded readily.

Meanwhile, at Yang Mi's home.

Chen Le was having a long chat with Father Yang.

While Mother Yang and Yang Mi were preparing lunch.

At this moment, Father Yang was recounting his heroic experiences as a police officer.

"Little Le, you have no idea. Back in my day..." Father Yang spoke proudly of his past deeds—chasing down criminals with immense bravery and even earning a Third-Class Merit.

Chen Le listened intently. The stories Father Yang told were indeed very interesting.

At the same time, he felt great respect for Father Yang.

It was precisely because of people like him, silently contributing to society, that the world could be so stable and peaceful.

Father Yang talked for a long time, almost reaching the point of telling Chen Le where he hid his secret stash of money.

He was satisfied with Chen Le from the bottom of his heart. After all, he was young, handsome, and wealthy, and he treated his daughter very well. They were a perfect match, like a talented man and a beautiful woman.

As long as Yang Mi was willing, they wouldn't interfere much.

Their family didn't hold the belief that children's marriages should be dictated by their parents; after all, they were a highly educated family.

Their financial situation wasn't bad either, and they had no demands for their daughter other than for her to be happy.

They even supported their daughter's decision to pursue a career in acting.

In the kitchen, Yang Mi and Mother Yang couldn't help but smile as they heard Father Yang telling Chen Le about his heroic deeds from his youth.

They could hear how happy Father Yang was.

Yang Mi walked out of the kitchen and brewed a pot of tea for the two of them.

She looked at her dad and teased, "Dad, you tell these heroic stories to everyone you meet. My ears are growing calluses from hearing them."

Hearing this, Father Yang's face turned awkward.

Helpless against his daughter's teasing, Father Yang said, "Mi Mi, you haven't even married out yet, and you're already siding with an outsider. You're truly my 'leaky cotton-padded jacket,' aren't you?"

Yang Mi smiled upon hearing her dad's words.

Of course, while she said that, she had actually admired her father since she was a child. After all, her father was a police officer, and her classmates had always envied her for it.

Chen Le watched this heartwarming scene with a faint smile on his face.

This was his third time visiting Yang Mi's home. Since they were both in Yanjing, it was just a short drive away.

Just then, Mother Yang finished cooking the meal.

"Mi Mi, come over and help bring out the dishes," Mother Yang called out from the kitchen.

Seeing this, Yang Mi immediately went over.

Chen Le thought for a second and followed her.

He felt awkward just sitting there, so he thought he might as well help carry a dish.

When Chen Le arrived in the kitchen to help, Mother Yang immediately smiled and said, "Little Le, why did you come to the kitchen too?"

"I'm here to help bring out the dishes." Saying so, Chen Le carried a dish out of the kitchen.

Mother Yang suddenly shouted, "Old Yang, even Little Le is here to help! Why are you still sitting there?"

Hearing this, Father Yang's expression changed, and he immediately stood up to help carry the dishes.

Mother Yang was a full-time housewife, and she managed almost all the household affairs.

Because of this, Mother Yang held a high status in the household.

Since Father Yang didn't have to do much, he would accommodate her whenever he could.

Soon, it was time for lunch.

The four of them sat at the table, a picture of family harmony.

At the table, Yang Mi smilingly served food to Chen Le, completely unfazed by her parents' presence.

Mother Yang watched the two of them affectionately with a doting smile, feeling very happy in her heart.

Chen Le didn't feel shy either. If Yang Mi wasn't afraid, what did he have to be afraid of?

"Old Chen, eat more. Don't be like my dad," Yang Mi said while putting food on his plate.

Father Yang was bewildered. What about him? He wasn't a picky eater and ate plenty.

Just then, Mother Yang suddenly spoke up.

"Little Le! This New Year, why don't you take Mi Mi home to meet your parents!"

Before Chen Le could say anything, Yang Mi's face turned red.

She hadn't expected her mother to say such a thing.

Chen Le didn't mind at all and simply nodded with a smile.

"Alright!"
