173: Goodbye Mr. Loser is done!
Chen Le didn't expect that he would encounter a fan of Naza while eating here.
Fortunately, the outcome was good; although the process was a bit tense, it ended safely.
Soon after, the waiter brought the food.
No other surprises occurred afterward.
After finishing the meal, Chen Le took Naza home.
On the road, Naza sat in the passenger seat.
"Brother Le, I was really spooked tonight," Naza was still rambling.
"It's fine, Naza," Chen Le could only comfort her.
"Weren't you unrecognized? Even if you were, there's no need to fear; we could have just found an excuse to explain it." Chen Le wasn't as afraid as Naza.
After all, it wasn't like Yang Mi had found out, so there was no reason to panic.
Beside him, Naza felt that Chen Le's words made sense.
Her originally anxious mood immediately settled down.
"By the way, Naza, remember to wear those clothes you bought for me to see when we get back. I've never seen them; how do you even wear those?" Chen Le said with a sudden mischievous grin while driving.
Hearing this, Naza's attention was instantly diverted.
"Tomorrow. Not today, the clothes need to be washed first."
Hearing Naza's reasonable excuse, Chen Le nodded.
"Fine, just don't say you're pushing it to the day after tomorrow."
"I won't," Naza promised quickly, her face turning slightly red.
Soon, they returned home.
Just as Naza got home, her phone rang; someone was calling her.
She looked at the name and saw it was her former roommate from school.
She answered the phone, and a voice came from the other end.
"Naza, long time no see!"
"Long time no see, Xiao Yan," Naza replied with a smile.
This Xiao Yan was a roommate she was on good terms with back when she lived in the dormitory.
"I'm back in Yanjing. I heard you've been at school these past few months, but you're living off-campus now. Can I crash at your place for a night? I have nowhere to stay right now." Xiao Yan's voice sounded, putting Naza in a difficult position.
"Ah? Xiao Yan, I don't have any extra rooms here." Naza tried to refuse.
"It's okay, we can share a bed," Xiao Yan said hurriedly.
"Xiao Yan, can't you go back to school?" Naza asked again.
"I'm at the airport. By the time I get back to the school, the dorms will probably be locked."
Hearing Xiao Yan's words, Naza's face showed a troubled expression.
Chen Le was at her house right now; how could she let anyone else over?
If she let her come, wouldn't they be exposed immediately?
She was very clear on this point.
So no matter what, she had to refuse.
Just as she was struggling with how to reply, Chen Le opened his mouth and mouthed instructions to Naza on how to decline.
Seeing this, Naza immediately said, "But my place is quite far from the airport, and I'm actually not in Yanjing right now, so I can't do it!"
On the other side, Xiao Yan could only sigh upon hearing this. "Oh, alright then, Naza. I'll just find a hotel myself."
With that, she hung up.
She had intended to stay with Naza for a night, but it wasn't possible.
Naza felt a wave of relief.
She had finally managed to bluff her way through.
Even though she lied, it didn't matter.
"Naza, you did well." Chen Le looked at Naza and gave her a thumbs-up with a smile.
Naza looked weary. "Brother Le, I'm tired. I'm going to go rest."
"Sure."
The next day, the clothes Naza bought yesterday had been washed and dried.
It was the weekend, so they both had the day off.
In the room, Naza held the clothes she bought yesterday, looking at Chen Le bashfully. "Brother Le, do you really want to see this?"
"Of course. If I don't see it, wasn't it a waste to buy them?"
"Alright then." Naza bit her lip and complied with Chen Le's request.
As a result, Naza spent the next two days at home.
Her days consisted of eating, playing, sleeping, and occasionally watching a movie.
Chen Le's life also settled into a routine between two points.
Editing footage at the company during the day and returning at night.
He spent his free time accompanying Naza.
Over those days, Naza's complexion improved, and she smiled much more often.
If it weren't for Chen Le's excellent physical stamina, he really might not have been able to keep up.
At the company, Chen Le looked at the half-completed post-production work and felt satisfied.
The pace was quite fast; at this rate, "Goodbye Mr. Loser" would be fully edited in another week or two.
Another week passed.
"Goodbye Mr. Loser" was finished.
The members of the post-production team prepared to celebrate the completion of the film's editing.
During this period, they had practically forgotten to eat and sleep, editing during the day and pondering the next day's edits at night.
"Boss, would you like to join us?" the team members invited.
"Sure!" Chen Le readily agreed. "Let me treat you all; you've worked hard lately."
Hearing the boss's words, joy instantly spread across their faces.
They then took Chen Le to a KTV.
"You guys came here to celebrate?" Chen Le asked, somewhat surprised.
"Yeah, we all enjoy singing, so we usually come to a KTV for celebrations," Li Zheng explained.
"Alright, let's hear what you've got!" Chen Le said with a laugh.
"Boss, we just sing for fun. It's nothing professional, so please don't mind if we're not that good!" Li Zheng said sheepishly.
"It's fine. Having the guts to sing is already great. It doesn't matter if it's good or not, as long as it's not ear-splitting." Chen Le waved it off with a smile.
"This is my first time celebrating at a KTV; it's quite a fresh experience."
Then, the festivities began.
The post-production team members looked at each other, none of them wanting to be the first to sing.
After a while, Li Zheng gritted his teeth and decided to start things off.
"Boss, I'll sing 'Under a Vast Sky' for everyone. Don't laugh if I'm off-key," Li Zheng said bashfully.
"I won't laugh. Go ahead."
Li Zheng then began to sing.
The performance turned out surprisingly well.
"Not bad, Li Zheng! Are you a pro?" Chen Le praised him generously.
"No, Boss, I'm just an amateur," Li Zheng replied modestly.
With Li Zheng taking the lead, the others scrambled to the stage for karaoke.
Even Chen Le, caught up in the mood, went up and sang a song.
"Wow, Boss, you sang that perfectly!"
Everyone showered him with praise. While it was likely flattery, it was still nice to hear.
After the celebration, Chen Le took the time to submit the film for censorship review.
Once it passes, the film's promotion can officially begin.
