101: Chapter 101: I killed someone! I really killed someone!
"Everyone, take cover!" Su Han's voice exploded in the female soldiers' earpieces, his tone more serious than ever before.
Ever since Su Han became the Chief Instructor, they had never heard him sound like this. "Remember your orders—do not fire without my permission."
The fifteen female soldiers huddled behind the bushes, their fingers tightly gripped on the trigger guards.
The sound of explosions in the distance made their bodies tremble involuntarily; Li Xue's teeth even chattered uncontrollably.
Su Qingcheng lay prone in a low-lying area, seeing the distant dense forest engulfed in flames through her night vision goggles.
Her heart beat so fast it almost burst out of her chest. Sweat slid down her temples, leaving a water trail on the night vision lens.
"No. 5..." No. 12 Lin Yu's voice sounded faintly in the earpiece. "Will they... will they come our way?"
Before Su Qingcheng could answer, Su Han's warning suddenly came through the earpiece: "Targets are moving in your direction. Expect contact within three minutes. Maintain absolute silence."
The female soldiers instantly tensed up.
No. 18 Zhang Meng quietly pulled back the bolt, but Su Qingcheng grabbed her wrist and shook her head silently.
Messy footsteps and heavy breathing came from the distance, accompanied by the crisp sound of branches being roughly snapped.
Su Qingcheng held her breath. Through the gaps in the bushes, she saw five dark figures fleeing frantically toward them.
The leading man had a hideous scar on his face. He held a pitch-black pistol, his eyes as fierce as a trapped beast.
Behind him followed four fully armed subordinates, one of whom was dragging an injured leg, leaving a trail of dark red blood on the muddy ground.
"Boss, the border is just ahead!" a Brawny Bald Man said in a low voice.
Scarface suddenly stopped and looked around alertly. "Something's not right..."
A strange silence filled the air; even the chirping of insects had vanished.
Scarface's hand slowly rose, signaling his men to stop advancing.
In that very instant—
*Bang!*
A gunshot pierced the night sky. The smuggler dragging his injured leg fell to the ground, a bloody hole appearing between his eyebrows, his eyes still wide with the terror he felt before death.
"Sniper! Take cover!" Scarface roared, quickly rolling behind a large tree.
The female soldiers shuddered at the sudden gunshot. Li Xue almost screamed, but Su Qingcheng covered her mouth.
They watched helplessly as the man who had been shot fell to the ground, blood and brain matter gushing from the back of his head, staining the surrounding fallen leaves red.
"Was... was that the Chief Instructor who fired?" No. 12 Lin Yu's voice was trembling so much it was almost inaudible.
Su Qingcheng didn't answer because she saw an even more terrifying scene—Su Han emerged from the tree shadows like a ghost, the dagger in his hand glinting coldly under the moonlight.
"He's over there!" the Brawny Bald Man shouted, raising his AK-47 and spraying bullets wildly in Su Han's direction.
Bullets tore through the air, leaving rows of bullet holes on the tree trunks.
Su Han's figure, however, wove through the bullet paths like a phantom, moving so fast he almost left afterimages.
"This... this is impossible..." No. 18 Zhang Meng's eyes widened, unable to believe what she was seeing.
Su Han rolled closer to the outermost enemy, his dagger slicing across the man's throat like a venomous snake.
Blood sprayed out as the man collapsed, clutching his neck and making gurgling, choking sounds.
"A devil! He's a devil!" The remaining three enemies retreated in terror, firing their weapons frantically, yet they couldn't even touch the hem of Su Han's clothes.
Scarface suddenly pulled a remote control from his waist. "Let's die together!"
Su Han's gaze sharpened. With a flick of his wrist, the dagger flew out like lightning, accurately piercing Scarface's wrist.
The moment the remote dropped, Su Han had already rushed in front of him, delivering a knife-hand strike to his Adam's apple.
With a crisp crack, Scarface's eyes bulged, and he fell to his knees, his hands clawing futilely at his own throat.
Seeing this, the Brawny Bald Man turned to run, but Su Han's flying kick caught him in the back. The sound of his spine snapping was clearly audible.
The brawny man flew out like a ragdoll, slamming heavily into a tree before sliding limply to the ground.
The last enemy had been scared out of his wits. He dropped his weapon and knelt, begging for mercy. "Spare me! I surrender! I—"
Su Han expressionlessly delivered a knife-hand strike to his carotid artery, and the man instantly blacked out.
The entire process took no more than thirty seconds. All five fully armed enemies had been incapacitated—
Three dead, one seriously injured and unconscious, and one subdued.
Silence returned to the dense forest, with only the heavy scent of blood permeating the air.
The female soldiers watched all this, stunned. A few had already begun to dry heave.
Li Xue slumped to the ground, tears flowing uncontrollably. No. 12 Lin Yu bit her lip hard, only letting go when she tasted blood.
Su Han picked up the remote from the ground, pressed the disarm button, and then said calmly into his headset, "Threat neutralized. C4 deactivated.
He turned toward the female soldiers' hiding spot, his gaze sharp as a blade. "Come out. See what a real battlefield looks like."
Trembling, the female soldiers stood up and slowly walked toward that bloody killing field.
Under the moonlight, the corpses on the ground looked hideous, and blood pooled in the soil into dark red rivulets.
"Ugh—" Li Xue finally couldn't hold it in anymore and knelt on the ground, vomiting violently.
The other female soldiers weren't doing any better, their faces as pale as paper.
Su Han stood in the pool of blood, his combat boots stained red, but his voice was terrifyingly calm. "This is real war. Not imaginary enemies on a training field, not paper targets on a range. They will resist, they will bleed, and they will die."
He kicked Scarface's corpse. "This man was just about to detonate enough C4 to level half a hilltop. If he had succeeded, not just us, but even the village at the foot of the mountain would have suffered."
Su Qingcheng fought back the churning in her stomach, forcing herself to look directly at the corpses.
Her voice was hoarse. "Chief Instructor... how did you do it? Those bullets... they didn't seem to be able to hit you..."
The corners of Su Han's mouth curled up slightly. "Sixteen hours of training every day. When you reach this level, you'll be able to do it too."
"Now, help the War Eagle Squad clean up the battlefield. Remember these images, remember these smells, remember—"
Suddenly, Su Han's ears twitched slightly.
But he didn't turn around immediately...
Then, a gunshot suddenly rang out.
*Bang!*
A bullet grazed Su Han's shoulder, leaving a trail of blood.
Everyone turned back in shock to see the enemy Su Han had knocked unconscious had woken up at some point, holding a concealed pistol.
"Watch out!" Su Qingcheng instinctively raised her rifle and pulled the trigger.
"Rat-tat-tat!"
A three-round burst accurately hit the enemy's chest. He stared wide-eyed, looking in disbelief at the blood blossoms blooming on his chest as he slowly collapsed.
The scene fell into dead silence.
Su Qingcheng's hands were shaking violently, and her rifle fell to the ground with a clatter.
She had killed someone... she had really killed someone...
