124: Chapter 124: A Chance Encounter with My Middle School Homeroom Teacher! What? I have to write a 3,000-word self-criticism?

Su Xiao Nuan's face was filled with pride she couldn't hide, yet her tone remained humble: "My brother is usually very busy; I'm also surprised he could make it today."

Li Hao stood in the corner, staring this way with a sour expression, yet he didn't dare approach.

After the parent-teacher meeting ended, his father had received a phone call and was now pacing back and forth in the corridor, looking extremely flustered!

Meanwhile, Su Han followed Wang Ying to the office next door.

In the corridor, Su Xiao Nuan stood on her tiptoes, peering curiously through the office glass window.

She saw Wang Ying saying something with a serious expression, while her brother nodded occasionally, his brow slightly furrowed.

"Xiao Nuan!" A crisp voice came from behind her.

Su Xiao Nuan turned around to see her good friend from class, Lin Xiaoyu, waving at her. "Your brother is so handsome! Just now, Li Hao's dad took a call, and his face turned green!"

"Really?" Su Xiao Nuan's eyes lit up.

"Of course! I heard that their family's cooperation with the Su Family was canceled!"

Lin Xiaoyu lowered her voice. "Li Hao was just hiding in the restroom crying!"

Su Xiao Nuan pursed her lips and smiled, a warm current flowing through her heart.

In the office, Wang Ying closed Xiao Nuan's file and sighed softly. "Mr. Su, Xiao Nuan is a very special child."

Su Han's eyes moved slightly. "Teacher Wang, please speak plainly."

"Her grades are excellent, but her personality is a bit withdrawn," Wang Ying chose her words carefully. "Especially... she never mentions anything about her parents."

Su Han's fingers unconsciously tapped twice on the desk. "Our parents passed away when she was three."

"I see." A flicker of sympathy passed through Wang Ying's eyes. "But do you know? Every time the school organizes an essay on 'My Family,' she always writes about you."

Su Han was startled.

"In her essays, you are the most incredible brother in the world."

Wang Ying smiled and handed over a stack of essay books. "Perhaps you could take a look."

Su Han opened the top one, and familiar handwriting caught his eye:

"My brother is a soldier. Although he rarely comes home, every time he returns, he teaches me boxing. He says girls must also learn to protect themselves..."

Between the lines, there was nothing but pride and attachment.

"She's very talented," Wang Ying said softly. "Not just in her studies, but in martial arts as well. At the last school sports meet, she won three championships by herself."

Su Han closed the essay book, a trace of complexity flashing in his eyes. "Thank you for telling me this."

"As a teacher, I just hope..." Wang Ying hesitated for a moment. "That you can spend more time with her. Children of this age need the care of their family."

Su Han nodded and put his military cap back on. "I will."

Walking out of the office, Su Han saw Su Xiao Nuan leaning against the corridor railing. Sunlight filtered through the glass window, casting a slender silhouette on her.

"Brother!" Noticing him coming out, Su Xiao Nuan immediately skipped over. "What did Teacher Wang say to you? Did I get into trouble again?"

Su Han rubbed her head. "She said your grades are very good."

"Really?" Su Xiao Nuan's eyes lit up, then she narrowed them suspiciously. "She didn't mention anything about me fighting?"

"She did." Su Han put on a stern face. "I heard you pinned a boy to the ground and beat him up?"

Su Xiao Nuan immediately became like a kitten with its fur standing on end. "That's because he spoke ill of me first! He called me a wild child with no father or mother!"

Su Han's gaze darkened before returning to calm. "Next time something like this happens, tell the teacher... or tell me."

"Tell you?" Su Xiao Nuan curled her lip. "You only come back a few times a year."

These words were like a fine needle, gently pricking Su Han's heart.

Just as Su Han was leading Su Xiao Nuan out of the teaching building, they bumped into a middle-aged female teacher wearing black-rimmed glasses, her hair slightly gray at the temples.

"Su Han?!" The teacher pushed up her glasses, her voice suddenly rising. "It really is you!"

Su Han's footsteps halted. After quickly searching the original host's memories, his pupils shrank. He subconsciously straightened his back, his voice tightening. "Teacher... Teacher Liu?!"

Su Xiao Nuan looked up in confusion. "Brother, who is this?"

Teacher Liu looked Su Han up and down, her gaze lingering for a moment on the Major rank on his shoulder. The corners of her mouth curled up slightly. "Oh, look at you now. The rascal who used to sleep in class and climb over the wall to skip school is now an officer?"

Su Han's ears turned red instantly. The cold, intimidating aura that had dominated the parent-teacher meeting vanished without a trace, making him look exactly like a student caught red-handed.

"Teacher Liu, you... you're still teaching here?" He gave a dry laugh, trying to change the subject.

"What? I can't be here?" Teacher Liu huffed. "As for you, I haven't seen you in so many years, and you cause such a stir as soon as you return?"

"Just now, when I passed by the Class Five classroom, I saw you, but I couldn't believe it was you. I didn't dare come up to say hello."

Su Han: "..."

Su Xiao Nuan blinked, suddenly realizing what was happening. She excitedly tugged at Su Han's sleeve. "Brother! So you were a problem student too?"

"Nonsense!" Su Han put on a stern face. "I was... I was..."

"You were what?" Teacher Liu crossed her arms with a half-smile. "Was it because you thought math class was too easy, so you just slept? Or did you think the roasted sweet potatoes at the school gate were more attractive than class?"

Su Han: "..."

He took a deep breath and lowered his head in resignation. "Teacher Liu, I was wrong."

Only then did Teacher Liu nod in satisfaction, her tone softening. "Alright, seeing you like this now, I'm happy for you."

She paused, then added meaningfully, "However, shouldn't you make up for that three-thousand-word self-reflection you owed me back then?"

Su Han: "..."

"Hahaha... Just kidding!"

Teacher Liu couldn't help but grin, then patted Su Han's arm. "Not bad. You've grown up and gotten stronger!"

"But you're so young, you shouldn't be nineteen yet, right? How did you become a Major?"

"Did you perform some great merit in the military?"

Su Han scratched his head and nodded. "Yes, I earned some merit and got promoted."

Teacher Liu was enlightened and said with a proud face, "Excellent! As your middle school homeroom teacher, I am proud of you!"

Suddenly, Teacher Liu thought of something. "Oh, right. During the National Day holiday in a couple of days, there's a class reunion. Were you invited?"

"A class reunion?" Su Han was surprised.

Teacher Liu said, "It seems you didn't know. Well, it's no wonder; you went into the military, so how would you know?"

"But since you're back this time, you won't be leaving so soon, right? Then come along! The Class Monitor contacted me; consider this my invitation to you. It's in Private Room 8 at the Regent Hotel, the day after tomorrow at 6:00 PM. You must come! If you disappear again like you used to skip class, you'll really have to write that self-reflection, haha..."

Su Han: "..."
