194: Chapter 194: Big Brother!
Su Han looked at Zhou Mo's excited expression and smiled instead. "If a civilian helicopter were armed, I could fight with it too, haha..."
Zhou Mo: "My ass!"
Zhou Mo became more frustrated as he spoke. He grabbed the operation manual nearby and slammed it down in front of Su Han. "Look at this! You said you learned from books? Page 178 says 'the hydraulic auxiliary system must be activated three seconds before performing a Split-S.' You didn't turn it on at all just now! You completed it purely through manual operation? Do you have any idea that this is a damn violation of the operating procedures?!"
"What's wrong with violating procedures?" Su Han gave the simulated joystick a light push, and the virtual helicopter on the screen immediately took off. "In actual combat, the maneuvers that keep you alive are the best procedures."
He paused, looked at the two stunned men, and smiled innocently. "Besides, is this maneuver really that hard? I feel like it's okay, much simpler than stripping and reassembling a sniper rifle."
"Okay?!" Houzi reacted as if someone had stepped on his tail, his voice suddenly rising. "Is this just a matter of being 'okay'?! When Instructor Zhang from the Army Aviation Brigade demonstrated this move last time, his hands were shaking so much afterward that he couldn't even hold a water cup! But look at you, acting like it's nothing and even saying it's simpler than stripping a gun?"
He counted on his fingers. "A gun only has a few parts, but this helicopter has over thirty hydraulic lines alone! Adjusting one parameter wrong could lead to a crash and deaths! And you're telling me this is simple?"
Su Han looked at their bristling reactions and couldn't help but laugh. "I'm really not lying to you; most of it was learned from books. Look—"
He pointed at the virtual instrument panel on the screen, his tone as relaxed as if he were talking about the weather. "The lift formula is L=1/2ρv²SCl. Keep that in mind, and you'll know what to do when adjusting the rotor speed. Keep the sideslip angle under 30 degrees and the tail rotor power at 60%, and you can stabilize the fuselage... It's all written in the books. It's so simple."
"Simple?!" Zhou Mo clutched his hair, feeling his temples throb. "Let me give you some data—in the entire army, there are no more than fifty special service pilots who can proficiently perform a Split-S! Every single one of them is a veteran who has flown for at least eight years! And you, a 'recruit' who's been in the service for less than a year, are telling me this stuff is simple?"
He suddenly leaned in, his gaze sharp as if trying to pierce through Su Han's disguise. "Be honest, did you secretly go to an Air Force Base to learn before you enlisted?"
The smile on Su Han's face didn't waver. He tapped the virtual weapon system, and the missile on the screen immediately locked onto a distant target. "Like I said, anyone with hands can do it."
"Anyone with hands can do it?!"
These words were like a match, completely igniting Zhou Mo and Houzi's "fury."
Houzi clutched his chest with a look of utter distress. "So, we in the War Eagle Squad spent half a year suffering in the Army Aviation Brigade, vomiting until we were dizzy every day just to barely get our flight certificates, and in your eyes, it's just 'anyone with hands can do it'? Doesn't that mean all our suffering over the last six months was for nothing?"
Zhou Mo was even more direct, pointing at the simulator door. "Fine! You say it's simple, right? Come out now and let Houzi try! If he can even complete half of the maneuvers you just did, I'll eat this operation manual!"
"No, no, no!" Houzi waved his hands frantically, shaking his head like a rattle. "I definitely can't! My legs went weak just watching the Chief Instructor's maneuvers. Making me go up there would be a death sentence!"
He turned to Su Han, his tone tinged with a hint of pleading. "Old Su, can we stop pretending? Just admit it, you're a hidden, all-around big shot! We in the War Eagle Squad can't afford to lose face like this, but we don't want to be played for fools by you either!"
Seeing the two of them playing off each other, Su Han finally dropped his joking expression. He leaned back in his seat, watching the virtual helicopter circling slowly on the screen, and his tone calmed down. "Actually, there really is no secret."
"Maybe it's just talent."
This was actually the truth.
Every member of the War Eagle Squad was an elite Soldier King; they only seemed "ordinary" when compared to Su Han's "cheat-like" existence.
Zhou Mo and Houzi exchanged a look, both seeing helplessness in each other's eyes.
They knew that if Su Han didn't want to say something, there was no use in pressing him further.
Just like his miraculous shooting skills and his unfathomable combat techniques, he always remained shrouded in a layer of mystery.
"Fine, fine, you're the best." Zhou Mo waved his hand, his tone carrying a hint of resigned frustration. "But next time you pull a high-risk stunt like that, could you give us a heads-up? My heart felt like it was going to jump out of my throat just now. If Captain Wang finds out, he'll definitely skin me alive."
"Exactly!" Houzi chimed in. "The way those female soldiers on the ground were looking at you just now, they practically treated you like a god!"
Su Han smiled but didn't respond. He simply gripped the simulated joystick again. "Stop the nonsense and hurry up and teach them simulated flight. The morning training plan isn't finished yet."
He pushed the joystick, and the virtual helicopter suddenly dived, hovering steadily ten meters above the ground. The simulated weapon system under the fuselage precisely locked onto the target.
"Watch closely," Su Han's voice carried an unquestionable seriousness. "This kind of low-altitude hovering and locking is the key to raids behind enemy lines..."
Zhou Mo and Houzi looked at his focused profile, then at the fluid operations on the screen, and suddenly felt caught between laughter and tears.
Perhaps, to Su Han, piloting an attack helicopter really was as simple as stripping and reassembling a rifle.
It was just that this "simplicity" was truly... too demoralizing for mere mortals like them.
Houzi nudged Zhou Mo's arm and whispered, "Captain, do you think... we should apply to Captain Wang to let the Chief Instructor take a part-time job as a flight instructor in the Army Aviation Brigade? Maybe he could raise the overall flight level of our War Eagle Squad by a whole notch."
Zhou Mo rolled his eyes at him. "Do you think those arrogant pilots in the Army Aviation Brigade would accept an Army Major teaching them how to fly helicopters? They'd probably start a fight on the spot."
He paused, watched the virtual helicopter on the screen perform a high-difficulty evasive maneuver, and sighed. "Forget it, let's just... let's just consider ourselves lucky to have found such a treasure."
At least with such a "monster" in the squad, the Falcon Detachment's chances of winning the next cross-Military Region exercise have increased by a few more points.
Although, the shock brought by this chance of victory was truly a bit hard to bear.
