46: Chapter 46: The Martial Arts Talent of the Su Family's Little Girl
It was already late at night when they returned to the Su Family old residence.
Pushing open the door, Zhou Mo, Monkey, Big Bear, and Lynx were sitting around the table playing cards; upon hearing the commotion, they all looked up in unison.
"Yo, has our 'Third Grandpa' returned?" Monkey teased, winking. "How was it? Did you spend the whole night learning how to be an elder?"
Su Han rubbed his sore shoulders and smiled bitterly. "It's more tiring than training in the military."
Big Bear leaned in curiously. "Is the Su Family really that full of rules? I saw those elders treating you with such respect, so why do you still need to learn all this?"
"Seniority is seniority, but I am young after all." Su Han sat on the edge of the bed and took a sip from a water glass on the table. "There are too many parts for me to preside over at the wedding tomorrow; I cannot afford any mistakes."
Zhou Mo looked thoughtful. "No wonder you are so composed in the military; it turns out you grew up in such a large family."
Just as they were talking, the door was suddenly pushed open with a "bang."
A little girl of about six or seven, wearing pigtails, rushed in like a gust of wind and dove straight into Su Han's arms.
"Great-grandfather!"
The members of Falcon were instantly petrified.
The little girl looked up, her delicate, doll-like face full of excitement. "Great-grandfather! You're finally back! Xiao Budian has missed you so much!"
Su Han smiled and ruffled her hair. "Why aren't you asleep so late at night?"
Xiao Budian pouted. "I heard that Great-grandfather was back, so I waited for a very, very long time!"
Watching this scene, the cards in Monkey's hand fell to the floor with a "clatter," and he stammered, "This... is this your granddaughter too?"
"To be precise, she is my great-granddaughter." Su Han explained. "She is the daughter of my eldest grandson, Su Wu. According to our seniority, she should indeed call me Great-grandfather."
Big Bear counted on his fingers, looking shocked. "Then how old is your eldest brother?"
"In his early thirties, I suppose."
Zhou Mo and the others looked at each other, not knowing what to say for a moment.
Xiao Budian curiously examined the members of Falcon, then suddenly pointed at Monkey and said, "Great-grandfather, this uncle is so thin, he looks like a monkey!"
Monkey: "..."
Everyone burst into laughter.
Su Han pinched Xiao Budian's little cheek. "Xiao Budian, have you been slacking off on your training lately?"
"I haven't!" Xiao Budian proudly puffed out her small chest. "I can perform a complete set of Su Family Boxing now! Does Great-grandfather want to see?"
Without waiting for Su Han to answer, Xiao Budian had already run to the center of the room and struck a standard starting pose—
"Su Family Boxing, First Form: Azure Dragon Emerges from the Sea!"
The little girl's voice was childish, but her movements were clean and swift; every move was executed with precision.
The members of Falcon widened their eyes in surprise.
"Holy crap..." Monkey muttered. "How old is this girl? Her movements are more standard than mine were back in the New Recruit Company!"
Xiao Budian became more and more energetic as she practiced, her little fists whistling with power, and the final sweeping kick actually stirred up a faint sound of wind!
"Finish!"
Xiao Budian stood steady, her little face flushed with excitement, and she looked at Su Han expectantly. "Great-grandfather, how did I do?"
A flash of surprise crossed Su Han's eyes. "You've improved a lot! It seems you haven't been slacking off while I was in the military."
Xiao Budian lifted her chin triumphantly. "Of course! Dad came back just now and said that Great-grandfather won the championship in the military, so I can't embarrass Great-grandfather either!"
Zhou Mo couldn't help but ask, "Su Han, do all the children in the Su Family practice martial arts from a young age?"
Su Han nodded. "The Su Family is a martial arts family; children in the clan start practicing basic skills at the age of five. Xiao Budian is considered the most talented among her peers."
Big Bear sighed. "No wonder your combat skills are so strong; it turns out you've been building a foundation since you were little."
As they were speaking, the door was pushed open again, and a woman in her early thirties hurried in.
"Xiao Budian! It's so late, and you're still disturbing your Great-grandfather's rest!"
Seeing the members of Falcon, the woman quickly saluted. "Hello, comrades. I am Xiao Budian's mother. Sorry to disturb your rest."
Xiao Budian rushed over and hugged the woman's leg. "Mom! I was performing Su Family Boxing for Great-grandfather!"
The woman helplessly ruffled her daughter's hair and apologized to Su Han. "Third Grandpa, Xiao Budian has been talking about missing you constantly. When she heard you were back, she refused to go to sleep no matter what."
Su Han smiled. "Sister-in-law, it's fine. I've missed Xiao Budian too."
Xiao Budian looked up, blinking her big eyes. "Mom, I want to sleep with Great-grandfather tonight!"
The woman frowned. "No! Third Grandpa has to preside over the wedding tomorrow; you cannot disturb his rest."
Xiao Budian immediately pouted, her eyes reddening. "Just one night... Great-grandfather is going back to the military in a few days..."
Seeing that the little girl was about to shed tears, Su Han quickly mediated. "Sister-in-law, let Xiao Budian sleep here. I'll look after her."
The woman hesitated for a moment, then finally sighed. "Then... sorry for the trouble, Third Grandpa."
She squatted down, straightened Xiao Budian's collar, and said softly, "You must listen to Great-grandfather and not cause trouble, do you understand?"
Xiao Budian immediately broke into a smile through her tears and nodded vigorously. "Mm!"
After the woman left, Xiao Budian cheered, nimbly climbed onto Su Han's bed, and burrowed under the covers, leaving only her bright, sparkling eyes visible.
The members of Falcon watched this scene with complex expressions.
Monkey whispered, "Brother Han, your status in this family... is incredible."
Xiao Budian poked her head out from under the covers and asked curiously, "Great-grandfather, are these uncles your comrades-in-arms?"
"Yes." Su Han sat on the edge of the bed and tucked the blanket in for her. "They are all very impressive soldiers."
Xiao Budian's eyes lit up. "Are they more impressive than Great-grandfather?"
Su Han smiled. "Everyone has their own strengths."
Xiao Budian tilted her head and thought for a moment, then suddenly asked, "Then do they know martial arts? Can they beat Great-grandfather?"
This question left the members of Falcon stumped.
Zhou Mo coughed dryly. "Well... we are better at using guns."
Xiao Budian nodded, seemingly understanding, though not quite.
"Xiao Budian." Su Han gently pinched her cheek. "It's time to sleep."
The little girl stuck out her tongue and obediently closed her eyes.
The room quieted down, leaving only the sound of Xiao Budian's steady breathing.
Monkey lowered his voice. "Brother Han, what exactly is the origin of your Su Family?"
Su Han looked at the sleeping Xiao Budian and said softly, "The Su Family had a Martial Arts Champion in our ancestry, and the family's martial arts have been passed down for hundreds of years. Although times have changed, the tradition of practicing martial arts has never been broken."
Big Bear sighed. "No wonder your combat skills are so monstrous; it turns out it's from your family heritage."
Zhou Mo looked thoughtful. "So, the combat techniques you displayed in the military before were all Su Family kung fu?"
"It counts as a modified version." Su Han explained. "It incorporates the features of modern Military Boxing and is more practical."
Lynx suddenly asked, "Then, can you demonstrate the full version of the boxing style Xiao Budian just performed?"
Su Han thought for a moment and stood up. "Su Family Boxing has thirty-six forms in total; I'll perform the first six for you all to see."
He walked to the center of the room, took a deep breath, and his figure suddenly moved—
"First Form: Azure Dragon Emerges from the Sea!"
Su Han's movements were exactly the same as Xiao Budian's, but the speed and power were on a completely different level. His fists whistled, and the members of Falcon could even hear the faint sonic booms of the air being torn apart!
"Second Form: Fierce Tiger Descends the Mountain!"
"Third Form: Spiritual Crane Spreads Its Wings!"
...
After finishing the six forms, Su Han withdrew his stance and stood still, his breathing as steady and calm as usual.
The members of Falcon were dumbfounded.
Monkey swallowed hard. "If one were to take a punch like that..."
Big Bear touched his own chest. "I think I might die."
As they were talking, Xiao Budian on the bed turned over and mumbled groggily, "Great-grandfather... go..."
Su Han walked back to the bedside and gently patted the little girl, his eyes full of tenderness.
Monkey whispered, "Brother Han, you look just like a kind old grandfather like this."
Su Han laughed and scolded, "Get lost!"
The night grew late, and the members of Falcon fell asleep one by one.
Su Han lay on the bed, listening to Xiao Budian's steady breathing beside him, his thoughts drifting far away.
Tomorrow was the wedding, and as the master of ceremonies, he had to face not only the tedious etiquette but also the expectations of the entire Su Family.
And after the wedding, a brand-new challenge awaited him—forming the Womens Special Operations Team.
"Great-grandfather..." Xiao Budian murmured in her sleep, "Xiao Budian will practice her martial arts hard..."
Su Han gently stroked her hair, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
