101: Chapter 101 Marching into New York, Buying the Tallest Building

The morning in Manhattan always awakens amidst this clamor.

This clamor is the sound of money in motion.

Thirty full-size black Chevrolet Suburbans, like a black scalpel, arrogantly sliced through the congested traffic on Fifth Avenue.

This motorcade was uniform and orderly, without any license plates.

This almost arrogant low-profile caused the financial elites on the roadside to stop in their tracks.

They wore custom suits worth thousands, held Starbucks in their hands, and their eyes revealed an arrogance that claimed to be civilized.

"Which nouveau riche from the Middle East is it this time?"

"Looking at this formation, I reckon they intend to go to the Empire State Building to throw money around."

They joked in low voices, their tone full of disdain for such "nouveau riche" behavior.

In the center of the motorcade, inside that stretched bulletproof Lincoln, Chen Yuan leaned back against the seat.

He had changed into a dark gray three-piece suit, his tie knotted meticulously.

His pitch-black eyes stared at the skyscrapers towering into the clouds outside the window.

This is New York.

This is the beating heart of global finance.

It is also the nest where those old-money conglomerates depend on for survival.

Compared to the primitive and barbaric bloodshed of San Verde, the plundering here is more covert and even more greedy.

"Boss, up ahead is Trump Tower... oh no, it's the 'Titan Center' we have our eyes on."

Victor sat in the passenger seat, holding a tablet with data constantly jumping on it.

He appeared somewhat excited.

As a former intelligence peddler, he enjoyed this feeling of returning to the center of the world too much.

Chen Yuan responded indifferently.

"Has Miller arrived?"

"He is already waiting on the top floor of that building."

Victor chuckled.

"He brought sixteen lawyers and twenty actuaries. It looks like he intends to swallow us whole at the negotiating table."

A mocking smile curled the corner of Chen Yuan's mouth.

"Law? Data?"

"He probably doesn't understand yet. In the face of absolute wealth, these things are just decorations."

The motorcade slowly pulled up to the Titan Center.

Two rows of Tyrant bodyguards in black suits and sunglasses quickly got out of the cars, forcibly clearing a path through the crowd.

Those white-collar workers who originally wanted to watch from up close were frightened by this murderous aura and retreated repeatedly.

It was the kind of feeling one gets when encountering a group of metal machines patrolling their territory.

Chen Yuan stepped out of the car.

He looked up at this four-hundred-meter-tall glass monster.

It was the pride of Manhattan.

It was also the lifeline of the New York real estate tycoon, Miller.

"Let's go."

Chen Yuan led the way into the revolving doors.

The elevator rose rapidly.

The sensation of weightlessness made ordinary people feel uncomfortable.

But Chen Yuan just quietly looked at his own reflection in the mirror.

He could feel the T-Virus inside his body dancing joyfully.

That craving for power was almost overflowing.

"Ding."

The top administrative floor arrived.

Outside the door, two rows of bodyguards stood ready.

The atmosphere here was at least ten degrees colder than outside.

"Mr. Chen, Mr. Miller has been waiting for a long time."

A secretary wearing a tight-fitting skirt walked up, her eyes carrying a hint of imperceptible contempt.

She sized up Chen Yuan's youth.

Chen Yuan ignored her and pushed open the heavy mahogany doors.

The office was huge.

Large enough to fit a small soccer field.

Miller was sitting behind a large marble desk, swirling a glass of whiskey with ice in his hand.

He looked to be in his sixties, his eyes sinister.

It was a murderous aura cultivated from long immersion in business wars.

"Sit, Mr. Chen... from the border."

Miller did not get up, just casually pointed at the chair opposite him.

That tone.

It was as if he were entertaining a poor, distant relative visiting to ask for favors.

Chen Yuan smiled.

He sat down swaggeringly.

He even reached out and took a cigar from Miller's cigar box.

"No need for small talk."

Chen Yuan cut the cigar and lit it.

He exhaled a puff of white smoke and pointed at his feet.

"This building. Name a price."

Miller was stunned for a moment.

Then he erupted into a burst of harsh, wild laughter.

The surrounding lawyers and actuaries couldn't help but laugh out loud as well.

That laughter was full of mockery for Chen Yuan's ignorance.

"Mr. Chen, you might not have grasped the situation yet."

Miller put down his glass and leaned forward.

"The Titan Center is a landmark of New York. Its market value is over five billion dollars."

"And. It's not for sale."

"If you are trying to sell that bottle of cough syrup of yours, I suggest you go to the discount pharmacy next door."

Chen Yuan didn't speak.

He turned his head and looked at Victor.

Victor understood immediately.

He opened the briefcase in his hand.

It was the liquid reserves belonging to Umbrella Corporation that Chen Yuan had just withdrawn from the Swiss bank.

"This is the proof of funds currently in the account."

Victor pushed a printed document over.

Miller sneered and took the paper.

His gaze swept over the long string of numbers carelessly.

Then.

His expression froze.

His pupils began to shrink violently.

The hand holding the wine glass actually began to tremble slightly.

"Ten billion?"

Miller's voice was somewhat hoarse.

He suddenly raised his head, staring at Chen Yuan in disbelief.

"You... you actually have this much cash?"

On Wall Street, there are plenty of big shots with assets over a hundred billion.

But there are only a handful of madmen who can mobilize ten billion US dollars in liquid cash in an instant.

Chen Yuan shrugged.

"This is the sincerity of the people from San Verde."

"Ten billion. Cash payment."

"A one hundred percent premium."

Chen Yuan flicked the ash onto Miller's expensive carpet.

"Either you take this money and retire, or..."

Chen Yuan's eyes suddenly turned cold.

"I will have my security team tear this place down into ruins."

The office fell into a deathly silence.

Those elites who were just snickering were now like chickens whose necks had been choked.

They stared fixedly at the string of zeros on the document.

It was a number they couldn't earn even if they worked for ten thousand years.

Money.

At this moment, it displayed its most primitive and brutal beauty.

Miller took a few deep breaths.

He looked at Chen Yuan.

He could see a kind of madness in this young man's eyes that made his hair stand on end.

This was a madman who didn't play by the rules.

"Sign the contract."

Miller slumped back into his chair.

His pride, in front of ten billion dollars, seemed so cheap.

Three in the afternoon.

The sky over New York was still overcast.

But on the top floor of the Titan Center, several huge scaffolds had already been erected.

The gilded sign that originally belonged to the Miller family was crudely dismantled.

In its place was a huge, red and white Umbrella icon.

Under the afterglow of the setting sun, it emitted an unsettling cold light.

Below.

A line of gold-stamped characters shone brightly in the sunlight: 【 Umbrella CORP 】

Umbrella Corporation.

The news exploded across Wall Street like a plague in an instant.

CNN, Fox, Reuters.

Almost all financial media outlets published headlines at the first opportunity.

"Shock! Mysterious Eastern Tycoon Spends Ten Billion, Lightning-Fast Purchase of Manhattan Landmark!"

"Umbrella Enters New York! Is Wall Street's Nightmare About to Begin?"

"Unveiling Billionaire Chen Yuan: A Demon King Crawling Up from the Border."

Chen Yuan stood on the edge of the rooftop on the top floor.

He spread his arms, letting the strong high-altitude wind blow his long hair.

Below, were countless frightened, curious, and greedy eyes.

He was overlooking this world.

Alice walked up behind him.

"Boss, the message we wanted has been sent out."

"What is the reaction of those old foxes now?"

Chen Yuan turned his head.

His eyes flashed with bloodthirsty excitement.

Alice looked down at the constantly blinking communicator.

"The top ten conglomerates in the United States all held emergency board meetings within half an hour."

"They want to know. What exactly do you want?"

Chen Yuan sneered.

He looked at that huge Umbrella logo.

"What I want is very simple."

"I want this planet to have only one Umbrella to shield it from the wind and rain."

He turned around.

He looked at the skyline that had already turned dark.

"Victor."

"Here, Boss!"

"Spread the word. Tomorrow night, I want to host the first banquet on the top floor."

Chen Yuan paused.

The arc of his mouth became increasingly cruel.

"Tell them."

"Those who don't bring a 'proof of allegiance', don't bother coming."

"Here..."

"I don't accept trash."
