89: Chapter 89: Suing the FBI in Counterattack, Seeking One Billion in Damages

The black cadillac drove smoothly along the wide roads of San Verde.

Outside the window, the figures of those FBI agents grew smaller and smaller, eventually turning into a cluster of frantic black dots.

Chen Yuan retracted his slender middle finger and leisurely rolled up the car window.

Inside the car, the air conditioning was ample.

Ivanka was leaning against the leather seat back, her long legs crossed, holding a briefing that had just been delivered.

"Chen, that finger of yours will probably keep Agent James awake for the rest of his life."

Ivanka turned her head, a hint of uncontrollable amusement hidden in her deep blue eyes.

"Whether he can sleep or not is his business."

Chen Yuan took two ice cubes from the car refrigerator and dropped them into his glass. "I've always been a generous person. Since he gave me such a grand gift, it would be improper of me not to return the favor."

"Return the favor?"

Ivanka raised an eyebrow. "Was that hundred-million-dollar donation not enough?"

"That was just a gift for you."

Chen Yuan took a sip of the ice-cold liquor, an extremely dangerous cold glint flashing in his eyes.

"For Agent James, and for the FBI... I have a different surprise."

He turned his head to look at Will Smith sitting in the passenger seat.

"Will, how are the materials coming along?"

Will pushed up the gold-rimmed glasses on the bridge of his nose.

He opened his briefcase and took out several documents that had already been stamped with official seals.

"Boss, everything is ready."

Will's voice was calm yet arrogant, like a shark that had caught the scent of blood.

"We've seized upon every single procedural loophole. I even had the forensics team photograph the record of a single weed being snapped at the entrance when they cordoned off the Pharmaceutical Factory."

"Very good."

Chen Yuan gave a cold laugh. "Go to headquarters and summon all the media. I'm holding a conference."

...

An hour later.

The first-floor lobby of the Umbrella Building.

It had already become an ocean of cameras and microphones.

Every journalist in San Verde was squeezing inside like they were mad.

The broadcast vans of every major mainstream media outlet in America formed a long line at the entrance.

They were all waiting for that man to appear.

The man who, two hours ago, had just walked away while raising his middle finger while surrounded by hundreds of FBI agents.

"Mr. Chen is out!"

Someone shouted.

Chen Yuan walked onto the podium, flanked by dozens of bodyguards in sharp suits and sunglasses.

His pace was slow.

Yet it carried a sense of oppression that suggested he was in total control of the situation.

Will Smith followed closely behind, carrying a heavy briefcase.

Chen Yuan didn't waste words and stood directly before the microphone.

He looked around the room as camera flashes flickered frantically, making the collar of his white shirt shine brightly.

"Everyone."

Chen Yuan's voice carried through the speakers to every corner of the hall.

"Just now, I experienced an incredibly absurd 'welcoming ceremony'."

"A group of uniformed thugs, paid for by taxpayers, attempted to kidnap a legitimate businessman protected by The Pentagon without any due legal process."

The audience broke into an uproar.

"Not only that."

Chen Yuan pointed at Will behind him. "My legal counsel tells me that this behavior is not just an insult to me personally, but a trampling of the very legal foundations of America."

"Therefore, I have decided to fight back."

He took a step back.

Will Smith stepped forward in turn. He cleared his throat, his voice sounding like rolling stones—powerful and cold.

"I am Mr. Chen Yuan's lead counsel, Will Smith."

"As of five minutes ago, we have officially filed a lawsuit in the Texas Federal Court."

Will pulled a thick complaint from his briefcase and slammed it onto the podium.

"We are suing the FBI San Verde Field Office, as well as Agent James himself."

"The charges include, but are not limited to: abuse of power, false imprisonment, trespassing on private property, and egregious commercial defamation!"

Will's voice echoed through the cavernous hall.

"Due to the FBI's illegal harassment, my client's Pharmaceutical Factory was forced to halt operations for three hours."

"This resulted in delays for multiple international orders, damage to the company's reputation, and a massive loss of potential commercial value."

He held up a finger, his gaze sharp as a knife as he scanned all the media present.

"Mr. Chen Yuan is officially seeking civil damages from the FBI."

"The amount of the claim—"

Will paused, then spat out a number in an utterly flat tone that was enough to cause an earthquake in the global financial world.

"One billion dollars."

"In cash compensation."

Boom—!

The journalists in the hall were like a crowd hit by a frenzy spell; the place instantly exploded.

"One billion dollars?! That's simply a fantasy!"

"Attorney Smith! Are you sure that number isn't a joke?"

"Suing the FBI? That's never succeeded in history!"

Facing the tide of questions.

Will wasn't flustered at all. He opened a file and began citing precedents.

"According to the Federal Tort Claims Act, any government official must bear civil liability for misconduct in the performance of their duties."

"We have audio recordings and video footage. We have evidence of Agent James personally admitting he did not have a legal search warrant."

"As for the one billion dollars..."

Will gave a cold, contemptuous sneer.

"The global daily pre-orders for Umbrella Corporation's 'youth no. 1' exceed fifty million dollars."

"How much of the lifespan of the world's noblewomen and financial tycoons did Agent James's stupidity delay?"

"This billion is just a conservative estimate."

"We don't just want this billion dollars; we want a public apology from Agent James and his resignation!"

The scene was incredibly gratifying.

Chen Yuan sat in an armchair to the side, fiddling with a lighter.

He watched Will eloquently tear the FBI to shreds.

He watched those media reporters frantically scribbling in their notebooks.

He knew.

From today onwards, his status in America would be unshakable.

Because he didn't just have guns and medicine; he also had the top legal mind in this country.

He was going to use the very 'rules of the game' that these politicians and elites were most proud of to play them to death.

At the same time.

San Verde FBI Field Office.

Agent James was sitting in his office, staring blankly out the window.

His ashtray was stuffed with cigarette butts.

"Sir..."

The Deputy pushed the door open, his face pale and his voice as thin as a mosquito's buzz.

"What is it?"

Agent James didn't even turn around, his voice hoarse.

"The lawsuit... has been served."

The Deputy placed a document on the desk. "Chen Yuan... he's suing us for one billion dollars."

Agent James spun around and grabbed the document.

He flipped through it page by page.

The more he read, the more his hands shook.

"One billion..."

Agent James suddenly began to laugh.

That laughter was filled with desolation and madness.

"He's crazy... he must be crazy..."

"Sir, the court..."

The Deputy swallowed hard. "The court has officially accepted the case because Umbrella Corporation brought in a joint signature from the top five law firms in America."

"The Texas Chief Justice personally signed the acceptance documents."

"They said... the trial starts next Wednesday."

Agent James slumped into his chair.

He looked at the chandelier on the ceiling, feeling the light slowly fading away.

He had lost.

Completely and utterly.

In this game of money and power, he, the so-called 'incarnation of justice', hadn't even touched a hair on the opponent before facing total ruin.

...

Umbrella Headquarters, celebration banquet.

Chen Yuan raised his wine glass toward the harem and the core members around him.

"Boss, that hundred-million-dollar donation was really worth it."

Rosa licked her lips, the admiration in her eyes almost overflowing. "Agent James probably feels like committing suicide right now."

Chen Yuan smiled.

"This is just the beginning."

He looked out the floor-to-ceiling window, his gaze deep.

"I've already paid thirty million in legal fees."

"I never expected to get all of that billion dollars back."

"But I want everyone to know."

"On this land, whoever dares to touch my people..."

Chen Yuan clenched his fist, his tone cold as frost.

"I will make them lose everything."

Just as everyone was cheering.

Will Smith walked through the crowd to Chen Yuan's side.

He whispered in his ear.

"Boss, a two-hundred-million-dollar advance for the administrative claim just hit the account."

Chen Yuan raised an eyebrow.

"So fast?"

"The FBI high-ups got cold feet."

Will smiled, looking like a fox that had stolen a chicken.

"They want to settle. This two hundred million is a show of sincerity."

Chen Yuan turned his head to look at the group of beauties surrounding him.

Sophia, Rosa, Natasha, Viper, Ada...

And the newly subdued Assassin Queen.

Each one was a stunning beauty capable of toppling nations.

With a wave of his hand, he ordered Victor:

"Victor, take out this two hundred million dollars."

"Give it to everyone here."

A wicked smile curled on Chen Yuan's lips.

"Hand out red envelopes."

"Boss, isn't this red envelope a bit too large?"

Victor asked excitedly while wiping sweat from his brow.

Chen Yuan turned his head to look at the brilliant night sky outside the window.

"Is it?"

"I think it's just right."
