188: Chapter 188: After seeing off the special envoy, a wave of assassinations ensued.

The shrill red alarm sounded without warning, tearing through the tranquility of Elysium Manor.

The sound was like the shriek of a vengeful ghost.

It stirred up the smell of gunpowder that had just settled in the night air, making it incredibly thick once more.

Chen Yuan stopped his steps toward the interior of the main building.

He did not, as Victor had expected, immediately turn around and retreat to the impregnable underground safe house.

Instead, he turned directly.

He strode onto the spacious open-air balcony on the second floor.

His black tactical trench coat danced wildly in the night wind, like a snapping war flag.

"Boss! It's too dangerous outside!"

Victor followed behind, his fat body trembling violently with fear.

He scrambled up the stairs, desperately trying to dissuade him.

"Please enter the underground facility immediately to take cover!"

He had just seen with his own eyes the bulletproof car with Chinese license plates drive away.

The moment they left, someone came to kick down the door; they were definitely here with ill intent.

"What are you panicking about?"

Chen Yuan rested one hand on the cold metal railing of the balcony, his eyes as sharp as a hawk's.

He looked down, surveying the perimeter of the manor completely shrouded in darkness.

A bloodthirsty sneer curled at the corner of his mouth.

"On my turf, it's always others who have to run for their lives."

"Red Queen, project the surveillance footage of the perimeter for me."

"I want to see which deity dares to kick down the gates of Death itself."

"Yes, Boss."

The cold, mechanical voice of the Red Queen came from the air.

The next second.

Several ghostly blue lasers projected downward from the emitter at the top of the balcony.

They wove together into a massive three-dimensional holographic surveillance map in front of Chen Yuan.

As soon as the image lit up.

Victor couldn't help but gasp.

"What… what is going on?"

"Is the infrared thermal imager broken?"

Victor pointed at the screen, his voice cracking.

In the infrared mode of the holographic projection, the area around the bushes and high walls of the manor's perimeter was a dead, ghostly blue.

There were no red highlighted patches representing human body temperature.

Nor were there any engine heat sources from approaching mechanical vehicles.

Everything was eerily quiet.

Yet, those vibration sensors and optical probes placed in the shadows.

Were frantically sending alarm signals of an intrusion to the main control room.

"The detectors are functioning normally."

Alice appeared silently behind Chen Yuan.

That pair of ice-blue electronic eyes was performing data calculations at an extremely high frequency.

She stared intently at the afterimages flashing across the screen.

"Boss, the intruders this time are very strange."

"Their surface body temperature is extremely low, having even completely blended into the ambient temperature of the night."

"This allowed them to perfectly evade thermal imaging tracking."

Alice raised her hand and zoomed in on the feed from one of the optical cameras.

"Moreover, their movement speed is too fast."

In the footage, one could only see a few blurry black afterimages darting rapidly between the shadows of the trees.

That speed far exceeded the limits of what human muscles and bones could produce.

Even the sixty-frame-per-second high-definition surveillance probes could only barely capture a faint, blurry black trail.

Chen Yuan looked at the screen without speaking.

The laziness and cynicism in his eyes finally disappeared completely.

Replacing them was the intense focus of a hunter encountering top-tier prey.

"Switch to Defense Zone 3."

Chen Yuan ordered coldly.

The screen footage switched instantly.

On the lawn of the manor's Defense Zone 3 stood a T-103 Mass-Produced Tyrant responsible for perimeter patrol.

It was 2.2 meters tall, standing in the night like a pitch-black iron tower.

Even just standing there silently.

The custom-made suit, stretched tight by its terrifying muscles, radiated a suffocating sense of oppression.

The heavy Gatling gun it held in its hands further declared that it was a war machine born purely for slaughter.

At this moment, the Tyrant seemed to have sensed a trace of extremely dangerous movement in the air.

It suddenly turned its massive, skinless head.

Its pale, dead-fish eyes stared fixedly at the dark bushes ten meters ahead.

"Roar—"

A low, brutal roar emanated from the Tyrant's throat.

It raised the Gatling gun without hesitation.

The barrels began to emit a buzzing sound as they spun up.

Just in that split second.

The battle erupted.

An extreme black afterimage, like black lightning tearing through the night sky.

Shot out from the bushes without warning!

It was too fast.

So fast that even the neural reflexes of the Tyrant, enhanced by the T-Virus, suffered a fatal delay.

The black shadow skimmed rapidly along the ground.

It paused abruptly when it reached a position three meters in front of the Tyrant.

Using the terrifying momentum, it launched itself into the air.

A dark, cold silver arc of light suddenly flashed in the moonlight.

Precise and unerring.

Ruthless and decisive.

That silver arc of light slashed through in an instant at an extremely bizarre, anti-human angle.

It viciously sliced across the Tyrant's neck, which was as thick as an adult's waist.

Without any unnecessary movements.

It was as smooth as a red-hot blade slicing through a block of soft butter.

"Puchi—!"

The harsh sound of flesh tearing was clearly transmitted to the balcony through the monitoring audio equipment.

The Tyrant's massive body suddenly froze in place.

The hand that was preparing to pull the trigger loosened powerlessly.

The heavy Gatling gun slammed onto the lawn.

Immediately after.

A jet of dark green, viscous blood shot into the sky from its neck like a high-pressure fountain.

Instantly splattering all over the surrounding grass.

"Boom!"

This biochemical weapon, weighing several hundred kilograms and capable of withstanding even armor-piercing rounds.

Hadn't even had a single chance to counterattack.

It slammed heavily onto the ground like a collapsing mountain of flesh.

And made no further sound.

The black shadow simply rolled nimbly in mid-air.

And landed steadily on a stone sculpture nearby.

Like a phantom that had retracted its fangs.

On the balcony, there was deathly silence.

Victor was already so scared that he fell onto his butt on the ground.

His mouth was wide open, his face deathly pale.

His lips trembled so much that he couldn't even utter a single syllable.

He knew the Tyrant's defensive capabilities too well; that was a monster that could dismantle a tank with its bare hands!

And yet, it was taken out in one hit the moment they met?!

What kind of god-like opponent is this?

Chen Yuan, who had always been unflappable, narrowed his eyes slightly at this moment.

He looked at the black shadow standing proudly on the screen after instantly killing the Tyrant.

A glimmer of intense fluctuation finally appeared in the depths of his eyes.

That was not fear.

But a bloodthirsty excitement originating from his very bones.

This was definitely not an ordinary assassin.

This was an existence that completely shattered conventional tactical understanding.

Chen Yuan picked up the half-glass of red wine placed on the railing.

Gently swirling it.

Watching the crimson wine leave trails on the glass wall.

He watched the figure on the screen, whose movements were like a phantom and completely violated the limits of normal human physics.

A deeply dangerous arc curled at the corner of his mouth.

He muttered to himself.

"This speed… it doesn't seem human."
