18: Chapter 18 That female assassin, she has long legs, let her live.
As that tube of liquid with an eerie blue glow was injected into her vein, it felt as if a cold, venomous snake had burrowed into her bloodstream.
Viper couldn't help but shiver.
That icy sensation didn't last long, replaced instead by a bone-chilling clarity originating from her cerebral cortex. The intense murderous intent she had previously felt toward Chen Yuan melted away like snow under a scorching sun, eventually transforming into... a sense of natural obedience.
This feeling was terrible.
As a top-tier assassin, she clearly knew her thinking had been "modified," but her body and subconscious were completely unable to resist.
"Don't look at me with those eyes."
Chen Yuan sat in the large boss chair, twirling the empty syringe in his hands. His gaze roamed wantonly over Viper, sliding from her cold, beautiful face, across the chest wrapped in tight leather, and finally resting on her straight, slender legs.
"Although your gaze is fierce, right now, you can't even hurt a single hair on my head."
Viper gritted her teeth, trying to mobilize the killer instinct within her body, but when her gaze touched Chen Yuan's neck, her brain automatically blocked all attack commands.
She loosened her fists in defeat.
"What exactly... did you do to me?"
"A small insurance measure." Chen Yuan shrugged and casually tossed the syringe into the trash can. "Nano-nerve blockers. It will take over your subconscious. As long as you have the thought of betraying or harming me, it will cut off your nerve center like countless miniature scalpels."
Chen Yuan stood up, walked to Viper, and extended a finger to gently lift her chin.
This time, Viper didn't dodge, nor could she.
"Actually, Alice suggested I just kill you earlier. After all, dead people are the safest."
Chen Yuan's fingertip traced her taut skin with a hint of playfulness. "But I have a soft heart. Especially for beautiful women."
He lowered his head, leaning close to Viper's ear, his warm breath spraying against the side of her neck:
"With legs this long, if they were buried in the dirt as fertilizer, it would be a desecration of art. Don't you think?"
Viper's body trembled slightly.
Not because of fear, but because of a mix of shame and an instinct she couldn't disobey. She took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.
"Since you aren't killing me, then give me a task."
She was a professional assassin; since she had changed bosses, she had to prove her value.
"That's the spirit."
Chen Yuan snapped his fingers, turned around to sit back on the desk, and pulled the still-connected satellite phone from his pocket—the one he had searched off Viper.
"Call your old employer. Now, immediately."
"What do I say?" Viper took the phone, her eyes instantly becoming sharp.
"Tell them you've successfully infiltrated." Chen Yuan's lips curled into a cunning smile, like an old wolf plotting against a fox. "Tell them the defense here is as shitty as a pile of dung. That so-called Easterner boss is currently hugging two babes in the office, celebrating with champagne, so drunk he can't even hold a gun steady."
"Also, emphasize this."
Chen Yuan pointed to the new employees patrolling outside the window. "Tell them the batch of people I recruited are just a bunch of rabble gathered for money. As soon as the guns start firing, they'll definitely scatter."
Viper looked at Chen Yuan, her expression complex.
"You want to lure them in?"
"Of course." Chen Yuan spread his hands. "Three hundred people, plus heavy weapons. If we fought in the open, even if I had Tyrant, I'd lose a layer of skin. But if we let them into this factory..."
His smile became somewhat sinister: "Then this place will be their graveyard."
Viper didn't waste any more words.
She took a deep breath, adjusting her breathing and tone. The next second, the cold female assassin vanished, replaced by a voice that sounded somewhat eager and greedy because she had "succeeded."
The call connected.
"Commander, this is Viper."
A noisy background sound came from the other end of the phone, seemingly under helicopter rotor blades. A rough male voice with a heavy Mexican accent spoke: "How is the situation? Did you get the Easterner's head?"
"Not yet, but I've already infiltrated the core area."
Viper glanced at Chen Yuan, speaking rapidly. "The situation is much better than we expected. This kid is just a nouveau riche. Aside from two bodyguards who look slightly capable, the rest are all trash. He's throwing a party right now, and the entire factory's defense is as slack as a whore's public toilet."
"Oh?"
The Vulture Legion commander was clearly interested. "Are you sure there's no ambush?"
"Ambush? He doesn't even have decent radar." Viper sneered, that was acting on the level of a best actress winner. "Commander, don't wait until tomorrow. Tonight is the best time to strike. As soon as you rush in, I will cut off their power system at the first opportunity, and then..."
She looked at Chen Yuan, and Chen Yuan gave her a thumbs up.
"Then I will personally cut off that Easterner's head and give it to you as a chamber pot."
The other end of the phone was silent for a few seconds, seemingly weighing the options.
"Very good."
Finally, the Vulture Legion commander's greedy laughter came through. "Since this fat sheep has been washed clean, we won't be polite. Stay in contact; we will arrive at the designated position in an hour. Remember, don't hog the formula."
"Understood."
Hanging up the phone, Viper felt her back was already soaked in cold sweat.
She threw the phone on the table and looked at Chen Yuan: "They've taken the bait. Three hundred main forces, fully mechanized, and they'll be here in one hour."
"One hour?"
Chen Yuan glanced at the wall clock, his brow slightly furrowed. "Time is a bit tight, but it's enough."
"Are you really confident?" Viper couldn't help but ask. "The Vulture Legion not only has RPGs, but also modified armored vehicles. If you're counting on those two big guys to hold the line, I'm afraid they'll be blown to smithereens."
Tyrant is indeed strong, but it is flesh and blood after all. Facing anti-materiel weapons and sustained heavy firepower coverage, there is still a risk of being destroyed.
Chen Yuan didn't answer, just walked over to the pile of cash that hadn't been deposited into the system yet.
That was a full three million.
"Since we're going to war, we have to look like we're going to war."
Chen Yuan grabbed a bundle of cash and weighed it in his hand. "Before, I was poor and could only rely on my fists. Now that I have money, who would still play hand-to-hand combat with them?"
He closed his eyes, his consciousness sinking deep into his mind.
[System Mall] Activated.
An eye-dazzling list unfolded before his eyes; it was an arsenal that would drive any arms dealer crazy. From individual equipment to strategic missiles, everything was available. Of course, the prices for those big items were also ridiculously high.
Chen Yuan's gaze skipped over those expensive high-tech toys and locked directly onto the [Heavy Weapons/Fortifications] category.
He wasn't dealing with a regular army, but a group of mercenaries selling their lives for money. Dealing with people like this didn't require precision strikes, just extreme firepower suppression.
"System, I want to spend."
Chen Yuan's lips curled into a crazy arc; that was the unique confidence of a pay-to-win player.
"Give me four M134 Minigun rotary machine guns, the unlimited ammo version."
"Also, two 120mm mortars, plus fifty high-explosive shells."
"Oh right, since they have armored vehicles..."
Chen Yuan's gaze rested on an icon labeled [Individual Anti-Tank Missile · Javelin (Magic Modified Version)].
"Give me five of those."
"Finally, reinforce the factory walls for me and build a few hidden bunkers."
As Chen Yuan's thoughts flowed, more than half of those three million dollars instantly vanished. In their place were the killing tools with a cold metallic luster in the system space.
He opened his eyes, looked at the two beautiful women with different expressions in front of him, and the smile on his face was as bright as a child's.
"Alice, call Victor, take some people to the warehouse to collect the new equipment."
Chen Yuan straightened his collar, a bloodthirsty light flashing in his eyes:
"Tell that bunch of newbies that tonight is a live-fire drill."
"Whoever can take down a helicopter, I'll reward them with one hundred thousand dollars!"
