32: New Earth Knight

The remaining Gnoll had two holes about an inch wide in its body, caused precisely by the shots from the gale repeating crossbow.

After inspecting the two Gnoll corpses, Kenchi was about eighty percent convinced by Rick.

But out of caution, he randomly found several other Gnolls who had fought Arthur's party earlier. After questioning them and receiving the same conclusion, he finally believed Rick completely.

Although he now understood why Rick had suffered such a massive defeat, the appearance of the Mountain Giant and the new-style bow and crossbow still caused Kenchi to frown.

Kenchi knew very well that the Gnoll Tribe had no way to deal with the Mountain Giant, meaning that when they faced the Mountain Giant later, they could only rely on piling up wolf lives.

This was only if the Mountain Giant didn't run; if the Mountain Giant ran, they couldn't stop it either.

If this were truly the case, it meant that humanity only needed to send the Mountain Giant to conduct guerrilla warfare against them repeatedly. If they did this dozens of times, wouldn't all their hundreds of thousands of Gnolls be wiped out?

Coupled with that extremely powerful bow and crossbow, any offensive they launched would likely result in heavy losses.

Humans had now become troublesome for them!

After pondering for a long time, Kenchi realized that in this situation, fighting a protracted war would only lead the Gnolls into an increasingly unfavorable position.

Therefore, they could only seek a quick decisive battle. Only by concentrating all their forces to launch a fierce attack while their overall strength was still superior to humanity's could they possibly defeat the humans.

The time was set for tonight, lest delays lead to unforeseen complications!

The humans' crossbow bolts would likely be inaccurate at night, essentially wasting a great Sharp Weapon of humanity. Thinking of this, Kenchi's confidence in victory increased by a few points!

After Kenchi made up his mind, Arthur and the others on the city wall clearly saw that the Gnolls were not blinded by rage and did not launch an attack during the day. Instead, they retreated five li away.

Arthur and the others could only express regret over this!

Since the Gnolls did not attack, after arranging sufficient rotational guards, David and the others did not need to remain on the city wall constantly.

Speaking of which, due to the Gnolls' attack yesterday and Arthur's arrival today, David and his men hadn't rested all day!

Even the soldiers stationed on the city wall who had rotation shifts showed obvious signs of fatigue!

Facing this situation, when Arthur subsequently heard that David and the others wanted to host a grand reception for him, he immediately refused and urged them to go rest quickly.

This was because the Gnolls were very likely to launch another attack at night, which favored them.

David and the others didn't try to hold on after Arthur's advice, as they were indeed exhausted after a full day of mental tension. After greeting Arthur, they eagerly went to rest!

Knowing that a fierce battle was likely tonight, Arthur also allowed his subordinates, who had been on a long-distance rapid march for half a day, to rest.

Of course, there were exceptions. Arthur, Chris, Carola, and others were not tired because they had arrived on warhorses!

So they took advantage of the others resting to tour Northern Bulwark City and familiarize themselves with the surrounding situation.

They only finished a rough tour after an hour!

After this, Arthur strongly ordered the remaining few people to rest as well.

When Arthur was alone, Victor's figure emerged from the shadows:

"My Lord, I have inspected thoroughly and found that in terms of high-end fighting power, the Gnolls only have their commander at the Earth Knight level.

And here in Northern Bulwark City, the Guard Captain under David is also an Earth Knight!"

Hearing this, Arthur was surprised, after all, an Earth Knight was not cheap; they could already be considered preliminarily non-human!

Compared to Silver Knights whose Dou Qi covers their whole body, and Gold Knights whose Dou Qi can leave their body to launch slashes.

The first enviable trait of an Earth Knight is that they have undergone a transformation, and their lifespan limit has been increased to three hundred years!

Then there is the reason why this stage is called the Earth Knight Realm.

Because they can draw energy from nature anytime and anywhere to restore themselves, their Dou Qi recovery speed is several times faster than before.

The most notable among them are the Earth Attribute Knights. As long as they stand on the earth, their Dou Qi is almost inexhaustible, which is why this Realm is also called the Earth Knight.

Of course, only Dou Qi is recovered; stamina is still consumed, and if the consumption is too fast, the Dou Qi recovery still won't keep up, so they can still be exhausted to death.

As for the Sky Knight, they naturally earn this title because they can fly, and their lifespan has also increased to five hundred years!

The ability to fly makes them virtually invincible when facing opponents below the Sky Knight Realm... Arthur knew that the commander of the 150,000 Gnolls was an Earth Knight, but he hadn't expected David to also have an Earth Knight under him.

But thinking about it carefully, Northern Bulwark City definitely needed an Earth Knight. Otherwise, if an Earth Knight carried out a Decapitation Strike, the opposing side would likely fall into chaos.

The situation in Northern Bulwark City would also be much worse than it is now!

"As expected of the Scion of a Duke, their foundation is truly significant!" Arthur sighed inwardly.

Time slowly passed. When the sky began to grow dark, everyone who had gone to rest tacitly walked out of their tents, apparently ready for battle.

David's party gathered with Arthur and the others again to discuss what improvements could be made to Northern Bulwark City's defense arrangements.

Arthur took this opportunity to put forward his request:

"Everyone, I believe you have seen the might of my Initial City Bow and Crossbow Soldiers!

But they still have a weakness: their defense is insufficient. So I hope Northern Bulwark City can dispatch four thousand experienced Shield Soldiers to specifically guard them, allowing them to attack more freely!"

"No problem, Baron Arthur's request is very reasonable. If the Gnolls who manage to climb the wall injure your powerful Bow and Crossbow Soldiers, it would be a great loss!

I will mobilize the four thousand most elite Shield Soldiers specifically to protect them!"

Seeing that Arthur's request was not excessive and was beneficial to their defense of the wall, David did not consult with the other Lords much and immediately agreed.

"Then thank you, Alliance Leader David!"

Seeing David agree so readily to his request, Arthur also expressed his gratitude.

Subsequently, since Northern Bulwark City's defense layout was already quite perfect, the group did not discuss any other results.

"Boom..."

After dark, four loud horn blasts sounded from the four directions of Northern Bulwark City. This was the warning issued by the Sentries on the city wall after detecting the Gnolls' attack.

Soon after, Messengers on horseback arrived quickly from the four directions, all reporting that tens of thousands of Gnolls had launched an attack in their respective sectors!

"It looks like the Gnolls have deployed all their forces. They want a Decisive Battle with us!"

David's expression was solemn after compiling the information. He hadn't expected the Gnoll Commander to be so decisive.
