8: Purchase the Golden Knight

They sent people to the Imperial Capital and spent a terrifying two million gold coins to acquire it, and it was only delivered into Arthur's hands a few days ago.

Two million gold coins, that was nearly a year's net income for the Counts Mansion!

Such a major incident had never occurred before. Now that Arthur was truly attacked, the Counts Mansion reluctantly spent two million gold coins to buy this ring.

This was a privilege neither his elder brother nor his second sister had!

Upon receiving this gift, Arthur was extremely grateful to his parents, as it was no small sum for the Counts Fief.

At the same time, Arthur secretly resolved in his heart to repay his family many times over in the future.

Recalling his thoughts, Arthur, after leaving the castle, considered that even if he were to give the extra gold knight armor to the Gold Knight he was about to purchase, allowing them to sell it.

The purchased Gold Knight would still need a space ring to store things, so he first casually found a merchant guild and spent ten thousand gold coins to buy an ordinary space ring with ten cubic meters of space.

Afterward, he found a place to rent a house, leasing a five-hundred-square-meter courtyard in a secluded part of the city. After ordering two guards to stand by the courtyard gate, he walked in alone.

Although the two guards were somewhat puzzled as to why Arthur suddenly rented a courtyard, and in such a secluded place, it was not their concern. After exchanging glances, they dutifully stood guard at the gate.

Arthur rented the house in such a secluded place precisely to minimize attracting attention when the Gold Knights he would purchase later entered and exited.

After thoroughly searching the room and confirming that there was no one else, Arthur in the room finally felt at ease opening his Portable Shop. After adjusting the appearance of the Gold Knight he was about to purchase to be more ordinary, he clicked 'purchase'.

The next instant, a middle-aged man appeared not far in front of Arthur. He was 1.9 meters tall, strongly built, had an ordinary appearance, and wore coarse cloth clothing.

As soon as this person appeared, before Arthur could say anything, he immediately knelt on one knee, lowered his head, and respectfully said:

"My lord, what are your commands!"

Seeing this person adopt a submissive posture as soon as he appeared, Arthur knew it was the loyalty effect mentioned in the Portable Shop, and he smiled with satisfaction.

Then he stepped forward and, while helping him up, said:

"I feel your loyalty, and I do have something to ask of you, but get up first!"

"Yes, my lord!"

After the man stood up, Arthur examined him closely again and found that besides his coarse cloth clothes, which were not worth a few copper coins, he had brought absolutely nothing.

Although he had been mentally prepared, he still couldn't help but complain that the Portable Shop truly wouldn't let him save even a silver coin!

After a moment of emotion, Arthur also curiously asked about the man's specific situation:

"Can you describe your current situation, such as your strength, memories, and so on!"

"As for strength, I possess the strength of a Gold Knight at Peak. As for memories, I only have some common knowledge of this world and memories of Battle Techniques!"

"Oh! Is that so!" Hearing this, Arthur nodded with some satisfaction.

Although this person didn't have all of Chris's memories, as long as he possessed his combat abilities and common knowledge of this world, being able to help Arthur with tasks was good enough.

"Do you have a name, then!"

"Yes, my lord, my name is Matt!"

Hearing that he had a name, Arthur nodded again, as he was terrible at naming things.

Besides, he didn't know how many people he would summon in the future; he couldn't possibly name them all himself. It was best if they had their own names.

"Very well, Matt, I summoned you because I do have something I need you to do!

I need a lot of gold coins, but I cannot directly show my face to sell items, so I need you to sell some goods from the shop for me in exchange for a large amount of gold coins!"

People purchased from the shop all knew about the Portable Shop's existence, so Arthur wasn't afraid of revealing too much.

Hearing Arthur's words, Matt quickly nodded and assured him:

"My lord, this matter is not difficult, you can rest assured leaving it to me!"

Seeing this, Arthur handed the newly purchased space ring to Matt, then purchased ten more sets of gold knight armor from the Portable Shop, spending three hundred thousand gold coins.

Adding the one gold knight armor Arthur had purchased earlier when testing the Portable Shop, a total of eleven gold knight armors lay on the floor of the room.

"These are eleven sets of gold knight armor. Your task this time is to sell ten of them. The extra one will be your own armor, after all, a knight cannot go without armor!"

"Thank you for the lord's bestowal!"

As he spoke, Matt knelt on one knee again, his face filled with gratitude.

Arthur was very satisfied with this; after all, having such a loyal subordinate was a very fulfilling thing.

"As my subordinate, I will certainly prepare basic weapons and armor for you. Get up quickly!

"Yes!"

"Speaking of weapons, I don't have any extra. I will give you another hundred thousand gold coins. Before selling the armor, get yourself some clothes and buy yourself a weapon!"

Saying that, Arthur tossed out a small mountain of gold coins, placing them in the room.

Weapons of the same grade are several times cheaper than armor, so one hundred thousand gold coins is enough to buy a Gold Knight-level weapon.

"Alright, my lord!"

"Then I'll leave it to you! I will return here in ten days!"

"I will not shrink from death!"

After another detailed conversation, Arthur didn't linger and left the newly rented small courtyard directly.

He was very much looking forward to ten days from now.

Because in the courtyard, he had spent three hundred thousand gold coins just to purchase ten sets of gold knight armor, plus the cost of purchasing the Gold Knight and the final hundred thousand gold coins for weapons, totaling five hundred thousand gold coins.

This left Arthur with not many gold coins on him!

This made Arthur feel very insecure, so he was greatly anticipating the day he would become rich in ten days.

Afterward, Arthur didn't wander much and quickly returned to the Count's Castle.

On the other side, after Arthur left, Matt didn't delay at all. He used the space ring to put away the armor and gold coins in the room.

As for the extra set of gold knight armor, Matt directly put it on.

After all, the border region had a tough populace, and it was quite normal to see people wearing armor.

Since Matt had common knowledge information in his mind, he quickly arrived at the central district of Mad Lion City.

Apart from the core district where the Count's Castle was located, the central district was the most prosperous area in the entire city. Most of the territory's officials and wealthy merchants resided here.

Therefore, it also had the most bustling trading district in all of Mad Lion City, and the Dawn Merchant Guild, which spanned several kingdoms, also had a branch here.

Matt's target was precisely the Dawn Merchant Guild. After all, ten sets of gold knight armor would yield at least three million gold coins when sold, which was no small sum, and ordinary merchant guilds simply couldn't handle it.
