57: Royal Sky Knight Flynn

However, the flip side was that many houses in the city, which should have housed three people, now housed seven or eight.

Charles, the city's civil servants, and the fifty thousand soldiers, after working all night, could finally rest!

During this period, Arthur wasn't entirely idle either.

Along with the refugees came more than ninety lords. Arthur met with each of them, fulfilling his host duties and promoting his reputation.

There was also good news: the Kingdom agreed to Arthur's request for them to dispatch a Sky Knight, but the Kingdom had two conditions:

First, a fee of three million gold coins was required. This was merely a gesture, as three million gold coins couldn't truly secure a Sky Knight.

Second, that Sky Knight would only help them contain the Minotaur Chieftain of the Beastmen and would not participate in anything else.

After Arthur, David, and the others agreed, the Kingdom also stated that the Sky Knight would arrive before dark today.

To prepare for the arrival of the Kingdom's Sky Knight, Arthur instructed Victor and Wilson, the two Sky Knights who had always been inseparable from him, not to follow him anymore. They were to find a room in the castle and temporarily stay there, not going out.

After all, they were all Sky Knights, and Arthur was afraid that the Kingdom's Sky Knight expert might discover Victor and Wilson's whereabouts, which would not be good.

Arthur now had the legendary ring of protection, so even if the two were not by his side, he didn't have to worry about danger, so they both agreed to Arthur's arrangement... As evening approached, David, Dennis, and the more than ninety lords, eagerly awaiting the Sky Knight's arrival, all ascended the walls of Initial City to gaze into the distance.

After all, whether the Kingdom's Sky Knight would arrive determined, in their hearts, whether they could withstand the Beastmen's offensive this time. Naturally, they cared deeply.

Moreover, that was a Sky Level expert; they dared not be negligent.

Although Arthur didn't care, he waited with them to fit in.

Just as the sun was about to set, everyone suddenly noticed a streak of light to the south, in the direction of the Kate Kingdom, accompanied by a whistling sound that tore through the air, flying rapidly towards them.

Able to fly in the sky and with such extreme speed, it seemed to be the Kingdom's Sky Knight.

Indeed, when the person flew above Initial City, their speed gradually slowed down and finally stopped.

It appeared to be a golden-haired middle-aged man with a somewhat rugged face.

The Kate Kingdom officially had six Sky Knights; three dukes each held one position, and the other three were experts from the Royal Family.

With such a small number and such great power, one of the essential courses for nobles was to recognize these six experts.

The more than ninety people present were all noble scions; the merchant lords with insufficient background had already departed. After clearly seeing who had arrived, everyone performed a chest-thumping salute to greet him.

“Duke Flynn!”

In the Kate Kingdom, anyone with the strength of a Sky Knight would become an honorary duke, which is why Arthur and the others addressed him as such.

Arthur and the others immediately recognized the newcomer as Flynn Kate, one of the three Royal Family Sky Knights.

Flynn was considered a hawkish faction within the Kingdom. After hearing that the Kingdom planned to send a Sky Knight to the Barren Plains for a period, he volunteered to come himself.

Therefore, Flynn had quite a good impression of Arthur and the other lords who pioneered in the Barren Plains and fought on the front lines against the Beastmen, saying with a faint smile:

“Greetings everyone! I presume you all know my objective in coming here is solely to deal with the Minotaur Chieftain.

Despite this, I still hope that everyone can repel the Beastmen, or even eliminate more Beastmen, and become heroes of the Human Race.”

“We will not fail to meet the Duke's expectations!”

Everyone pledged in unison again.

“Mm!”

Duke Flynn responded, then scanned everyone present, his gaze lingering on Arthur, who was at the front of the group.

Thinking that the King had also asked him to specifically observe this person to see if he could find any clues, he smiled at him and said:

“You must be Baron Arthur! I've heard of you in the Kingdom. To cause such a stir at such a young age, annihilating hundreds of thousands of Gnolls, your future is limitless!

Perhaps the war between us humans and the Beastmen could end in your hands. That would truly be recorded in history! Haha!”

As soon as Flynn said this, not only was Arthur somewhat surprised, but David and the others' eyes widened even more.

They hadn't expected Flynn, this Sky Knight, to regard Arthur so highly, even saying that the Beastmen would end in Arthur's hands.

Flynn's praise was mostly due to his delight in seeing such an excellent junior as Arthur, so he exaggerated a bit.

After all, he hated the Beastmen the most, but he held no hope in his heart that Arthur could truly destroy the Beastman Kingdom.

Arthur dared not directly accept Flynn's words, as that would appear too arrogant. He showed a look of self-abasement:

“The Duke praises me too much. I am still far from annihilating the Beastmen, but I will work hard!”

“Haha, good, I'll wait for you!”

Seeing Arthur's neither humble nor overbearing demeanor, Flynn also burst into laughter.

After a few more words, everyone proceeded to Arthur's castle reception hall to discuss the specific matters of resisting the Beastmen.

“Although Initial City's walls are protected by obsidian, they can only withstand a few attacks from Earth Knights. It would be best to add another layer of magical protection, as the upcoming battles will be extremely fierce.”

“Agreed!”

“Agreed!”

...And while the people of Initial City were discussing specific measures to deal with the Beastmen, the Beastmen also learned that the Human Race had fully retreated into defense.

For a moment, they were somewhat furious, as ambushes were no longer possible!

Inside a huge tent, three Earth-Grade and one Sky Level Beastman experts gathered.

There was one Earth-Grade Boar-people, one Gnoll, and one Minotaur, while the Sky Level expert was the Minotaur Chieftain.

Due to the intelligence leak, the atmosphere inside the tent was somewhat tense.

“That damn Beastman traitor actually leaked our intelligence to the Human Race, allowing them to prepare. Now it will take a lot of effort to take them down!”

The Gnoll, eager for revenge, couldn't help but roar in anger. The other three Beastmen also frowned deeply.

Just as the Gnoll was about to say more, the Minotaur Chieftain spoke:

“Enough, Henke, what's the use of saying that now! We should attack immediately while the Human Race hasn't fully prepared! How much longer until we are fully assembled?!”

“How much longer until we are fully assembled?!”

Among the Boar-people, Gnolls, and Minotaurs, the Gnoll was still the smartest.

So, after calming everyone's emotions, the Chieftain still looked at Henke, asking about the progress of the troop assembly.

Hearing this, Henke also put away the anger on his face and respectfully replied:

“Sir, we will be fully assembled in one more day. After that, a five-hour forced march will bring us to Initial City, where the Human Race is located.”

“Good, then go and prepare quickly!”

“Yes!”
