137: Chapter 137 The Holy Gate
"Damn it, if you don't take me to the surface, you won't get anything to eat from now on."
"Hiss—ha!"
Upon hearing about "no food," the young Leviathan immediately began to ascend.
It wasn't until Chen Fan was almost out of breath that it finally surfaced.
"Cough, cough, cough... Damn you, are you trying to suffocate me?"
Chen Fan slammed his abdomen, a wave of nausea rushing to his head.
"Ugh—"
After vomiting a liter of seawater, and even coming close to throwing up bile, Chen Fan still felt his stomach churning.
"Damn, I didn't swallow a fish whole, did I?"
After a long while, his complexion gradually improved.
Chen Fan looked up; before him lay the vast ocean surface, completely empty.
"Weren't we going to the canal? Why are we still here?"
The Leviathan hissed, "I can't get into the canal; that ahead is the end of the canal."
Chen Fan nodded, looking at the Leviathan with surprise.
Those key figures trying to escape must have fled from the canal to the ocean.
Intercepting them at the end was undoubtedly the best choice.
Who would have thought that this behemoth, while appearing not very intelligent in communication, was actually quite reliable in action.
Patting its forehead, Chen Fan looked around.
Its massive head was as stable as if it were equipped with shock absorbers.
The protruding horn was enormous.
Chen Fan's arms couldn't even wrap around a tenth of its circumference.
Fortunately, there were some uneven, shallow pits on it for him to hold onto.
With the endless ocean surface and no reference points, Chen Fan couldn't judge its speed, but the seawater splashing several meters high proved it wasn't slow.
After a while, a small island appeared in the vast sea ahead.
The roar of an engine came from the middle of the island.
Chen Fan gazed into the distance, watching the exit in the middle of the island getting closer.
Suddenly, a speeding boat darted out from the gap.
"Running away? Do you think you can escape?"
Chen Fan's lips curled slightly as he gave the Leviathan the order to close in.
The movement here was quickly noticed by the people on the boat.
"The Divine Beast? Great, the Divine Beast has followed us."
"Thank heavens, we're finally safe."
The old man with gold-rimmed glasses was the first to spot the Leviathan.
But his excitement lasted only a moment before he saw Chen Fan's head poking out beside the horn.
"Not good, run!"
The old man exclaimed, startling everyone.
The other old men looked over in confusion.
Although the captain didn't understand the situation, his years of loyalty made him immediately start accelerating.
The boat pushed to full throttle, speeding frantically in a certain direction.
"Quite cautious, aren't you? Chase them!"
Chen Fan snorted coldly and ordered the Leviathan to speed up.
Upon receiving the order, the Leviathan began to dive, its head submerging beneath the surface.
It wasn't until his legs felt wet that Chen Fan realized something was wrong.
"Hey, that's not right, accelerating doesn't mean diving!"
"Hiss—"
"If I don't dive, how am I supposed to accelerate?"
A tentacle reached out, and its massive eyeball stared at Chen Fan in confusion.
With its limited brain capacity, acceleration was tied to diving.
It could only move at full speed by diving into the sea.
"Fine, just chase them like this, no need to accelerate."
Looking at its "wise" gaze, Chen Fan shook his head, losing interest in teaching it.
That brain was clearly so smart, better let it figure it out on its own...
After thinking for a moment, Chen Fan shook his head, dismissing the idea of summoning any Crew Member.
It would be useless if ordinary Crew Members came.
None of the sentient ones, except for Aurell, had flight capabilities; if they fell into the sea, it would be very difficult to rely on the "wise" Leviathan for rescue.
As for Aurell, better let him rest for a while, Chen Fan sighed.
Fortunately, the Leviathan's speed, even without accelerating, was still faster than the boat.
Given the speed difference between the two, it wouldn't take long to catch up.
On the boat, the old man with gold-rimmed glasses tried to communicate with the Leviathan several times, but after receiving no reply, his face darkened.
"The enemy has taken control of our Divine Beast."
"How is that possible?!"
"It's been so many years, the Divine Beast has always been under control, why would it suddenly go out of control?"
"Didn't the Divine Beast agree to fight for us before? Why did it suddenly turn against us?"
"You ask me, who do I ask?" The old man gritted his teeth, "We can't go back; at the Divine Beast's speed, it will catch up soon."
"Then what should we do? Elder Jin, think of something."
Hearing this, everyone panicked.
Elder Jin looked behind him and gritted his teeth, "Go to the Holy Gate."
"What?!"
"Elder Jin, we can't go there, who knows where we'll be transported to after passing through the Holy Gate."
"That's right, Elder Jin, think of another way, I don't want to be transported to some bizarre place."
"Enough!"
Elder Jin snorted coldly, his cloudy eyes flashing with a cold glint.
"Living in luxury for so long, have your brains rotted? The Divine Beast is right behind us; if we don't go to the Holy Gate, do you think you'll survive?"
"This..."
The few old men looked behind them and couldn't help but swallow hard.
They looked at each other for a moment, then gritted their teeth and said nothing more.
Seeing this, Elder Jin turned his head away, a trace of coldness flashing in his eyes.
As for the captain, the moment Elder Jin gave the order, he turned and steered in another direction.
There, a mist seemed to shroud the sea, isolating a small area.
After discovering their actions, Chen Fan frowned slightly.
"Do you know what that place is?"
The Leviathan squeaked, "I know, that's the Holy Gate."
"Holy Gate? What is that?"
"I don't know."
"..."
Chen Fan rolled his eyes, once again classifying the young Leviathan as one of the "wise" ones.
After Tracking for two kilometers, the boat, now within reach, plunged into the mist and disappeared.
The Leviathan took Chen Fan and plunged into the mist as well.
Darkness instantly enveloped the man and the beast, with visibility limited to just over ten meters ahead.
Chen Fan squinted, carefully observing what was ahead.
He didn't know how long they had been traveling.
Suddenly, a golden light pierced through the mist, illuminating the sea before them.
Chen Fan was forced to cover his eyes, observing through the gaps between his fingers.
A massive golden gate, hundreds of meters high and a hundred meters wide, stood in the middle of the sea.
The golden light was emanating from the golden gate.
"This is... the Holy Gate?"
Chen Fan muttered to himself.
He had never seen such a large gate.
Elder Jin on the boat turned his head and sneered, reaching into his inner pocket and rummaging around.
The next moment, the boat entered the range of the golden gate.
Even more dazzling golden light shone out, and the boat that entered the range of the golden gate was completely enveloped by the golden light.
Immediately, the boat's hull began to fade.
The Leviathan was one step too slow; by the time it arrived at the foot of the golden gate, the boat had already disappeared.
However, no golden light rose.
The man and the beast looked at each other.
"Hey, the key, the key!"
"Key? Where would I get a key... wait."
Chen Fan's expression shifted.
"Key? He actually seemed to have one."
