297: Chapter 297 Preparing for Action
Regaining his composure, Jiu Jiu's mood remained difficult to calm.
The scene she had just witnessed had too great an impact on her.
"Perhaps, we can figure it out once we enter the interior of that building," Chen Fan said thoughtfully.
The Death God looked at Jiu Jiu, then turned to look at Chen Fan, scratching his head: "Then how should we get in?"
"Wait."
"Wait?"
"Yes, wait."
Chen Fan nodded slightly, using his Domain of God to continuously monitor the movements within the city.
The entire city seemed to have suddenly come alive; almost all the residents boarded their own ships and sailed toward the outside of the city.
At the port, the distribution of energy had already stopped.
Those pirate ships seemed to have received orders; after sailing out of the port, they lined up and swept toward Chen Fan's direction.
"Quite clever, but do you think you can hit me with this?" Chen Fan shook his head with disdain.
The leader of this city didn't seem very intelligent.
Just now, under the monitoring of the light screen, he had teleported away, yet the opponent could actually come up with such a stupid method?
Shaking his head, seeing the first batch of pirate ships about to approach, Chen Fan teleported directly to a hundred meters behind them.
Soon, the second batch of pirates approached, and Chen Fan teleported again.
Before long, he had sent away more than ten batches of pirate ships.
Although these pirate ships were out of range of the Domain of God, they were still within Chen Fan's Exploration range.
They were sweeping aimlessly in the nearby waters, attempting to "bump into" Chen Fan through this stupid method.
"Really stupid." The Death God covered his mouth and chuckled softly.
"They are quite stupid, indeed."
After a while, Jiu Jiu's mood recovered slightly.
Chen Fan watched the pirate ship closest to them sail away and withdrew his gaze.
"The stupider they are, the more it benefits us."
Jiu Jiu nodded. "Then how do we get in?"
"Wait a little longer."
Chen Fan rubbed his aching head.
Whether it was the domain or Exploration, the information brought in was massive.
Continuously processing this information left Chen Fan exhausted.
After resting for a while, he turned on his domain perception again and scanned back and forth within the city.
Suddenly, he raised an eyebrow.
An unexpected figure appeared.
"It's that boy!" Jiu Jiu whispered.
In the edge area of the city, the boy Chen Fan had met once before was sitting in his own "wooden bucket," struggling to row toward the outside of the city.
"What does he want to do? Could he be trying to report us?" The Death God tilted his head, feeling it was somewhat funny.
Chen Fan shook his head. "Probably not. His direction is coming out of the city. If he wanted to report us, he should be going to the church."
Hearing this, the two nodded slightly, their eyes locked on the boy.
When passing the port, he even drew some ridicule.
However, the boy's face was livid; he ignored those people and stubbornly rowed toward the outside of the city.
After moving away from the crowd, he cautiously scanned the surroundings.
After confirming no one was around, his mouth kept opening and closing.
Chen Fan's eyes narrowed slightly.
The Domain of God could only cover water and land; the boy's voice was transmitted through the air, and Chen Fan could not hear it.
After thinking for a moment, he waved his hand, and the ghost ship teleported again.
The landing point was just a few meters away from the boy.
"You aren't staying at home, why did you come out?"
Hearing the voice, the boy was shocked: "Sir, is that you?"
"Go back. This is not a place for you to be," Chen Fan reprimanded.
However, the boy shook his head stubbornly.
"Sir, you want to deal with the Pope and the others, right? I can help you."
Chen Fan raised his eyebrows slightly. "Aren't you afraid I'm a bad person?"
"No, no!" The boy shook his head again. "Sir is good, they are bad."
This conversation amused Jiu Jiu, who covered her mouth and giggled.
The Death God also chuckled.
Chen Fan shook his head helplessly. "What can you help me with?"
"Sir triggered the alarm when you snuck into the church, right? Only people from the city can go in there; outsiders will trigger the alarm. I can go in for you and gather intelligence."
"Great, so I'm a country bumpkin." Chen Fan curled his lips.
"In your current state, you can't get into the so-called church either, right?"
The boy grinned. "That will depend on you, sir. As long as you help me get a decent set of clothes and a good ship, I can get in."
"That's no problem."
Chen Fan nodded, his eyes sweeping toward the tower at the highest point of the city.
"That thing is monitoring me, and I can't get in for the time being."
"It's okay, sir. The guardian tower can only be activated for two hours at a time, and then it needs to be recharged. Sir can wait until it turns off before going in."
"One last question: where can I get you a ship without being suspected?"
A flash of hatred crossed the boy's eyes, and he whispered: "Near our house, there is a rich family. He is very annoying, and no one wants to associate with him. After you kill him, no one will know."
Chen Fan nodded. "Okay. When you go back, turn and look toward me at his doorstep, and I will know."
"Yes, sir!"
Although he couldn't see Chen Fan, the boy still bowed ninety degrees toward the front, then turned around.
"By the way, sir, my name is A Xin."
Watching A Xin leave, Chen Fan rubbed his chin.
"Is he reliable?" The Death God leaned over.
"Should be fine. But even if he's not reliable, it's just a matter of escaping again." Chen Fan shrugged.
After waiting for a long time, A Xin finally slowed down leisurely.
After passing a house, he stopped, turned around, and kept blinking toward Chen Fan.
As if worried that Chen Fan hadn't seen him, when he turned to leave, he turned back and blinked for a while.
The three of them couldn't help but laugh.
An hour passed.
The pirate ships that had left the city returned one by one, finally stopping at the port, waiting to receive energy to go out to sea.
After a while, the light on the guardian tower at the top of the church gradually dimmed.
Finally, it turned into darkness.
Chen Fan knew its energy was exhausted.
"Let's go."
Chen Fan snapped his fingers.
After continuous flickering, the ghost ship stopped at the spot marked by A Xin.
Chen Fan silently recited the command, thickening the domain energy nearby significantly.
Then, he invaded the house alone.
Inside the house, there was only one huge fat man, who was lying on the bed resting.
Chen Fan's eyes flickered, and he made an attempt.
"Recruit."
[Dark Creatures, cannot Recruit.]
"Recruit."
"Spirit Control."
[Intimacy value has not reached the standard, cannot Recruit.]
"Hmm?" Chen Fan's eyes lit up.
Doesn't this prompt mean that as long as the intimacy value is high enough, he can Recruit the indigenous people here?
The image of A Xin flashed through his mind.
Chen Fan smiled and raised his hand, silently ending the fat man's life.
After cleaning up the corpse, Chen Fan arrived at A Xin's house again.
"Resolved. There are plenty of clothes in his house; you can go pick some."
Appearing, Chen Fan looked at the woman who was about to get up and shook his head: "Don't get up, rest well."
"Yes, Mom. You should rest well; I'm going to help Sir with some business."
A Xin's eyes flashed with excitement.
The woman wanted to say something but stopped.
After a moment, she sighed: "A Xin, you... be careful."
