295: Chapter 295 Operation

Chen Fan shook the bottle in his hand and tossed it toward the woman.

The woman shuddered, instinctively caught the bottle, and immediately exclaimed:

'One hundred points?'

Hearing this number, the youth, who resembled a leopard, relaxed for a moment before tensing up again.

'Is one hundred points enough for you to live on for a lifetime?'

Chen Fan crossed his arms and looked at the youth before him with amusement.

He could tell that the two of them held great hostility toward him as an outsider. However, after seeing the 100 energy, the woman was clearly moved.

Shaking his head, Chen Fan smiled and said, 'Is this question hard to answer? Let me ask another one: why are you so hostile toward me? Answer it, and this one hundred points of energy will be yours.'

Upon hearing this, the woman's breathing became rapid again.

Even the youth, whose eyes were full of hostility, looked dazed for a moment.

After a long while, the woman spoke with difficulty, 'Sir, you aren't lying to us, are you?'

'Heh.'

Chen Fan scoffed, 'Is there anything about you worth me lying for?'

The expressions of both darkened, and then the woman took a deep breath:

'Because outsiders are all evil and want to destroy our city.'

Chen Fan raised an eyebrow slightly, 'Why? Have there been outsiders before?'

'No,' the woman shook her head.

'Then why say that?'

As soon as these words were spoken, the woman was stunned.

She raised her head, hesitated for a long time before speaking, 'Rumors.'

'In other words, no outsider has ever destroyed your city?'

'Mm...'

Chen Fan shook his head with amusement, 'Just because of an unconfirmed rumor, you want to attack me? You should know, if not for my food, you might not live for a few more days.'

Suddenly, the mother and child looked at each other, a trace of shame flashing in their eyes.

'S... Sir.'

'I ask, you answer. If you answer, you can get energy, understand?'

Chen Fan waved his hand, and another bottle flew toward the woman.

'Two hundred energy, is that enough for you to live on for a lifetime?'

'No... it's enough. If we are frugal, it's about enough.'

The woman looked at the energy and took a deep breath, as if she had made a decision.

'That means it's not enough.'

Chen Fan tossed another one out.

'Is three hundred enough?'

The woman trembled all over, her cloudy eyes gradually brightening, 'It's enough, Sir, completely enough.'

Chen Fan shook his head, 'It seems it's still not enough. Three hundred is only enough for one person, right?'

'No... yes, that's right, Sir.'

The woman lowered her head.

Chen Fan waved his hand again, 'Is five hundred enough?'

The woman caught the bottle, took a deep breath, and looked at Chen Fan with determined eyes:

'Sir, it's completely enough. Whatever you want to know, I will tell you.'

A glass bottle flew over again.

'Where does this energy come from?'

'Sir, there is a church in the center of the city, and the energy is exchanged within that church.'

'What is it exchanged with? What is this energy used for?'

'With essence blood, bone marrow, or... organs.'

The woman's voice was a bit hoarse, 'As for its use, I'm not too sure, but it seems it can be used for cultivation.'

Looking at the gaunt woman, Chen Fan understood in his heart.

'Is there any other currency in the city?'

'Yes, Sir. You can also use gold coins to exchange for food, but it takes one thousand gold coins to exchange for one point of energy.'

'Gold coins?'

Chen Fan raised an eyebrow slightly, took out a gold coin, and asked, 'Is it this?'

'Yes, Sir.'

Chen Fan nodded, 'One last question. What is the military strength like in the city?'

Upon hearing this, the two immediately looked up, staring at Chen Fan in disbelief.

'You...'

Chen Fan was not surprised by their reaction. With a wave of his hand, a huge chest appeared in the room.

'There are one million gold coins inside. Answer the question, and these will be yours.'

The youth's eyelids twitched, and he instinctively walked over to lift the lid of the chest.

The golden light made the two of them hold their breath.

The woman said tremblingly, 'Son, quickly close the lid, or someone will discover it.'

Hearing this, the youth shuddered, leaped forward and threw himself onto the chest, securing the lid.

'Sir, no one knows exactly how many there are. But what I do know is that there is a strange tower on top of the church. Anyone who dares to destroy the city will be instantly killed by the Guardian Tower. No one can withstand a single attack.'

The woman paused here, her mouth beginning to tremble, 'Also, the Guardian Tower has a surveillance function. It can capture everything that happens in the city.'

The youth also began to tremble, 'Oh no, it must know our every move.'

Chen Fan nodded slightly, activating his domain power to scan the top of the church.

A strange-shaped tower, three hundred meters high, stood at the top.

'This city is nearly five hundred kilometers in diameter. Is the entire area within the tower's attack range?'

'If I could take it back, defending the city would be a breeze.'

Chen Fan's eyes flickered, and he turned his head to look at the invisible Jiu Jiu.

A trace of excitement also flashed in her eyes.

'Rest assured, my domain covers your house. No one else will know what happens in here.'

Hearing this, the woman nodded, but then shook her head repeatedly, 'It seems it hasn't discovered us for now. But that's only because the Guardian Tower hasn't been activated.'

The youth also chimed in, 'If the Guardian Tower were activated, no concealment method could escape its scan.'

After speaking, the woman looked at the bottle in her hand and then at the chest on the floor, hesitating, 'Sir, you should take these things back.'

'Sir, you should take these things back.'

Chen Fan shook his head, 'They are gifts for you, so keep them. What happens next has nothing to do with you. Live well.'

After saying this, Chen Fan's figure disappeared from the spot.

Seeing this, the mother and child were so scared they trembled all over.

A moment later, the youth looked at the open door, gritted his teeth, rushed over, and closed it.

Immediately, he returned to the room, pushed the huge chest to the innermost part of the house, and completely covered it with ragged clothes.

After doing this, he climbed onto the heated brick bed, and the mother and child trembled, feeling anxious.

I am taking a day off today, but because this chapter is a bit of filler and I had to write it, I posted it anyway.

This book was originally planned to be over 1.5 million words.

The outline had a total of eight volumes, each about 200,000 words. With some filler, writing to 2 million words would have been possible.

However, the performance is really too poor, and I really can't continue writing. So I cut four volumes from the outline and went straight to the final volume.

Presumably, readers who have been following along can feel that the final part of the plot is a bit rushed, even the conclusion of Qiushui was very hasty, and the interactions with other women are also few.

Because before this volume, there was originally 600,000 to 700,000 words of plot...

For this book, except for earning a little money during the debut and book test, the daily income for the rest of the time has been terrifyingly low...

This is the first book I have written seriously. If the performance hadn't been so bad, I would have planned to write it to a million words.

Thank you to the readers who have been following, and to those big readers who urged for updates and sent 'power for love'. Thank you for your support.

From the time this book was signed until now, I haven't taken a single day off and have been updating constantly.

But Tomato is like this; readers who follow the updates only contribute a cent or two per person per day. Only new readers are valuable. If Tomato doesn't give traffic, then there's absolutely no way.

The final volume has about tens of thousands to one hundred thousand words left, and I will strive to finish it next month.

After all, as it's my first book, I must have a beginning and an end, which can be considered an explanation to the readers who have been following.

As for the new book, I am already conceiving and writing the beginning, which might be released before this one ends. So this book will likely only have two updates per day next month.

I have actually read the suggestions everyone gave me. Every comment, as long as I see it, I basically reply to it.

But when you make suggestions, the plot has already moved very far, and it's too late to go back and change it, so I can only correct it in the next book.

With such poor performance, I still intend to write until the end. That counts as having good character and a verifiable record, right? So after the new book comes out, will you come to support it?

Thank you for your support all along.
