8: Chapter 8 The Ferocious Bull Shark

[Support successful. Difficulty: White Grade 3.]

[china, support contribution: 100%. Rewards: Gold Coins +8, Mineral Water +10, Crispy Noodles +10, Wooden Planks +10, bamboo +10.]

[Demon, request for aid successful. Reward: Gold Coins +1.]

[Fangs Vessel, support contribution: 0%. Reward: Gold Coins +1.]

After a series of reward notifications flooded the screen, everyone noticed something was off.

"Fangs, you brat, you just hid and watched the whole time, yet you still managed to snag a reward?"

"Holy crap, does this mean as long as the support is successful, you can earn back the money spent on the scroll?"

"Doesn't that mean if you just put in a little effort, you can get extra rewards?"

"Likely so. The rewards china received were all +10. If Fangs had put in some effort, he could have gotten at least 1 more of everything."

"Holy crap, crap, crap! I'm going to start providing support!"

"Hold on, you have to make sure the support is successful first, otherwise you'll lose both your wife and your soldiers."

"True. Let's study this first."

With the support over, the field of vision for the Fangs Vessel was closed. Everyone went off to study the support system.

Xiao Hudie let out a long sigh of relief. Looking at the sea surface stained red with blood, she hurriedly rowed her Demon away.

After moving a certain distance away, she opened the trading interface and transferred the gold coins she earned to Chen Fan.

"Huaxia Big Shot, thank you for your support. Please take these gold coins."

However, Chen Fan was in no mood to pay attention to her.

He watched the dorsal fin that was catching up in silence.

After a long while, Chen Fan breathed a sigh of relief.

Judging by the size of the dorsal fin, the shark following them wasn't very large.

Since there was no longer any major danger, he couldn't help but start planning his own little scheme.

He had also seen the notification of the rewards for the Fangs Vessel, and he agreed with everyone's guesses.

After all, since there was a support system and it cost 1 gold coin each time...

...then the returns should at least break even.

Otherwise, no matter how high a player's skill level, their gold coins would only decrease with continuous support, which didn't fit the logic of survival.

He made his decision instantly and accepted the gold coins.

[Obtained: Gold Coins +100.]

Immediately after, he bought five Support Scrolls and five Crude Wooden Bows worth 1 gold coin each from the shop.

After trading them one by one, he sent out a targeted request for support.

Instantly, The Five Women received a system message at the same time.

[Player: china, has requested support.]

[Support Level: Yellow Grade 4. Support Limit: 100 people.]

"Don't ask questions. Accept the support, then choose 'Combat Support'."

Having said that, he directly recalled the 200 fish, released them into the surrounding sea, and took back the Sharpshooter's bow and arrows.

He had already guessed the system's settings.

The total reward should be linked to the number of people providing support.

The previous White Grade 3 support had a limit of 10 people, so the gold reward was 10.

This time, for Yellow Grade 4, the reward limit was 100 gold coins. It would be distributed to all participants based on their contribution percentage.

In that case, Chen Fan wanted to minimize his own contribution as much as possible so that The Five Women could get more gold coins.

After all, when they traded the gold coins back to him, he would get a Hundredfold Cash Back!

Thinking of this, the corners of Chen Fan's mouth curled up.

Among the women, the one with the fastest reaction was the Samo.

Clever as she was, she instantly understood Chen Fan's intention and immediately agreed to support.

The other four were half a step slower, but they all agreed as well.

Suddenly...

...five black whirlpools appeared on the sea surface.

Chen Fan started a small group chat and explained directly:

"A small shark is following us. I'll have my Crew Members restrain it. You guys try to deal as much damage as possible."

The Five Women understood immediately and nodded one after another.

Seeing the dorsal fin gradually approaching, Chen Fan cautiously slung his Compound Bow over his back.

Just in case the shark broke through, he could kill it himself.

Everything was ready, and The Five Women indicated in the group chat that the channels had been established.

At that moment...

...the shark dived into the formation of 200 fish like a dragon entering the abyss.

With one snap of its jaws, dozens of fish were devoured in an instant.

From this, Chen Fan could see its species clearly.

As expected, it was a Bull Shark about three meters long.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Chen Fan barked, "Fire!"

Hearing the command, The Five Women drew their bows and fired.

Wooden arrows shot out from the five different whirlpools, heading straight for the sea surface in front of them.

Since it was their first time using bows—even the lowest-draw-weight Crude Wooden Bows—they weren't very good at it.

Some arrows even directly hit the fish Chen Fan was controlling.

Fortunately, as Crew Members, the fish could be resurrected infinitely.

Sending in another batch of newly resurrected fish, Chen Fan gave the Sharpshooter an order.

"Get in the water and restrain it!"

If the Crew Member had a mind of his own, the Sharpshooter would have given Chen Fan a piece of his mind.

Asking a person to go into the water and use their body to restrain a shark?

That was simply inhumane!

However, the Sharpshooter carried out the order meticulously.

While the Bull Shark was devouring the Groupers, he leaped onto its back and wrapped his arms around it tightly.

"Now, shoot!"

At the command, The Five Women drew their bows repeatedly.

Quite a few arrows hit the Bull Shark square on.

Chen Fan nodded in satisfaction and continued to direct The Five Women.

However, the Bull Shark, stung by the arrows, began to thrash wildly.

It instantly bucked the Sharpshooter off.

Then it opened its bloody maw and bit down hard.

The Sharpshooter's head burst like a watermelon.

Brain matter and blood sprayed everywhere.

"Ah!!"

Seeing this bloody scene, The Five Women screamed in unison.

"Focus! Keep shooting!"

Chen Fan growled, summoning the Sharpshooter once again.

After several rounds, The Five Women gradually adapted to the gore and got into the groove.

The Bull Shark was covered in wooden arrows, and blood was leaking everywhere.

After biting off the Sharpshooter's head again, it turned around, its eyes blood-red, and charged toward Chen Fan.

"Here it comes!"

Chen Fan's expression hardened. He instantly summoned the Sharpshooter and handed him the Compound Bow.

In this critical moment, he couldn't care less about the rewards.

The Sharpshooter adjusted slightly, aimed, and fired.

The draw weight of the Compound Bow was far beyond what the Crude Wooden Bows could compare to.

The shark was already heavily wounded and on its last legs.

The Sharpshooter's arrow pierced right through it.

After struggling and wailing for a moment, the Bull Shark let out a roar. Its three-meter-long body slammed violently into the raft.

"Holy crap! A suicide attack?"

Chen Fan cried out. Without time to think, he could only leap aside.

The Sharpshooter reacted quickly too, leaping toward the other end.

[Ding!]

[china has taken damage. Damage level: 40%! Please repair immediately!]

The mechanical voice rang out repeatedly.

Chen Fan was a bit dizzy from the impact. He scanned his surroundings with sluggish eyes.

Suddenly, his eyes froze.

A dorsal fin appeared ahead.

Closing in rapidly, the Bull Shark opened its maw and roared as it bit down.

Chen Fan dodged with a roll.

But a section of the already dilapidated raft was bitten off. The resulting wave knocked him into the water.

"Watch out!!!"

Seeing this, the women cried out in alarm.

Their arrow fire also faltered.

*Splash*... "Cough, cough! Damn it! Kill it!"

Chen Fan choked on a large mouthful of water. Seeing the raft about to fall apart, he immediately repaired it.

[Consumed: Wood x100, rope x5. Repair complete.]

Five wooden arrows and one steel arrow were fired simultaneously.

They flew straight into the Bull Shark's mouth.

The steel arrow even pierced right through!

The Bull Shark shuddered, wailed, and crashed onto the sea surface.

After twitching for a moment, it finally went still.

At the same time, the system voice rang out.
