138: Chapter 138 Sin City

Chen Fan vaguely remembered that when he achieved an SSS-rank evaluation for the Newbie Village BOSS, he was rewarded with a gold key.

At the time, he didn't know what it was for, but he hadn't expected it would come in handy now.

Pulling out the three-meter-long gold key and gesturing with it a few times, Chen Fan froze in place.

There wasn't even a keyhole on this Gold Great Gate!

Could it be that it's not meant for this door?

Chen Fan scratched his head, feeling somewhat uncertain.

"Stick it in! Just stick it in!"

Seeing Chen Fan holding the key without moving, Leviathan shook its head anxiously, nearly knocking the key out of his hands.

"How am I supposed to stick it in? There's no keyhole. Do I just force it?"

"Mm-hmm..."

Leviathan nodded again.

Chen Fan glanced at the Gold Great Gate and hesitantly thrust the key toward it.

The moment the key touched the gate, a suction force emanated from within the golden door, swallowing the key whole.

[Identity: Player.]

[Name: china.]

[Sacred Key activated, identity bound.]

[Upon opening the Sacred Gate, the player will be teleported to a random location. Open it?]

Chen Fan was stunned for a moment.

So this Sacred Gate is actually a portal?

And it's not a targeted teleportation; it's random.

If he ended up in some remote corner or right next to an ultimate BOSS, wouldn't he be finished?

Reason told Chen Fan not to open it.

But driven by curiosity, he didn't want to pass up such an interesting opportunity.

"Damn it, I can return to the main storyline anyway. If I die, I die."

"Open!"

[Opening successful, randomly selecting teleportation location.]

[Selection successful, teleporting.]

The next moment, golden light shot out from the door, enveloping Chen Fan and Leviathan.

Just as Leviathan's body was beginning to fade into nothingness, the golden light suddenly retracted, pushing its massive body back several meters.

As the golden light dissipated, Chen Fan, who had been sitting on its head, had vanished.

The eye on the tentacle looked at its own body and then at its empty head, revealing a human-like expression of confusion.

Wrapped in the golden light, Chen Fan felt his body constantly falling.

After several consecutive 360-degree spins and leaps, Chen Fan kept his eyes tightly shut, feeling as if he were in a dream.

After an unknown amount of time, he felt his body drop onto the ground.

Chen Fan instantly jolted awake from the dream, warily climbing to his feet to observe his surroundings.

However, it was pitch black all around; he couldn't see a thing.

Chen Fan narrowed his eyes and activated Exploration.

With the SSS-rank Exploration buff, his vision cleared up slightly.

Beside him, a two-meter-high black vortex was gradually shrinking.

[Teleportation complete, portal is about to close.]

[The companion cannot be teleported due to a special bloodline.]

[The player can choose to teleport back to the original location or stay here.]

[Ding!]

[Congratulations to the player for discovering a new continent: City of Sin.]

[New sea chart has been unlocked.]

[Title upgraded.]

[Counter-Attacker (Blue) Lv7: Sailing speed increased by 60%.]

[Fleet Leader (White) Lv3: Can control one additional capital ship; additional capital ship attack and defense increased by 15%.]

Chen Fan skillfully narrowed his Exploration to 10 degrees and spun in a circle, lighting up an additional 1,000 kilometers of the sea chart.

Just as he breathed a sigh of relief and intended to observe his surroundings, an inexplicable sense of suffocation washed over him.

His breathing stalled for a moment, and Chen Fan instinctively lunged toward the vortex that was about to disappear.

The next moment, he and the vortex vanished from the spot together.

The familiar sensation returned.

The difference was that this time, Chen Fan felt his body constantly rising.

After a long while, the speed of ascent gradually slowed, and he was finally enveloped by salty, bitter seawater.

"Cough, cough, cough..."

Chen Fan choked and opened his eyes as a sharp cry rang out.

"Ya! Daddy's back!"

Leviathan happily lifted Chen Fan out of the water with its head, which it kept shaking.

"Stop shaking, I'm going to throw up if you keep shaking."

Looking at the familiar scene, Chen Fan breathed a sigh of relief.

Opening the system interface, he prepared to look at the newly acquired sea chart.

However, the sea chart named 'City of Sin' had actually turned gray and could not be viewed.

"Do I have to be inside the City of Sin to view the sea chart?"

Chen Fan was somewhat puzzled and casually clicked on the main storyline sea chart.

[Special area, cannot be viewed.]

"Fine, all that work for nothing. I just don't know if this key is a one-time use."

Thinking of this, Chen Fan turned around and reached out to touch the Gold Great Gate again.

[Upon opening the Sacred Gate, the player will be teleported to the City of Sin. Open it?]

"No!"

Chen Fan directly refused and withdrew his hand.

Fortunately, it wasn't a one-time use.

Moreover, it had actually bound directly to the City of Sin and would no longer teleport him to other places.

Presumably, this was also a system setting to prevent a person from constantly refreshing for new maps.

After a moment of contemplation, Chen Fan decided to return to the Superpower Metropolis first and handle the matters there before considering coming back.

After all, Leviathan had said that the Sacred Gate had been sitting here unmoved for many years.

As long as he wanted to, he could come back at any time.

"Let's go back and handle the matters in the city."

Chen Fan patted Leviathan's head and smiled.

However, Leviathan shook its head, looking aggrieved:

"Hungry—"

"Tsk, didn't I just feed you?"

"Swam so far, ya! Hungry!"

Chen Fan rolled his eyes. "You're going to be the death of me with your laziness."

Helplessly, he pulled out a bottle and tossed it out.

"Only 100 points, that's all there is."

"Mm-hmm—"

Leviathan chuckled, swallowed the bottle, and began the return journey.

Since they weren't in a hurry, Leviathan was much more leisurely than when they came, slowly swimming back the way they had come.

From time to time, it would even wiggle its body in a zigzag pattern.

Looking at the silly-looking giant beast, Chen Fan stroked his chin.

"Let me give you a name. Do you have a name you like?"

The tentacles on Leviathan's head swayed for a moment, followed by a low-pitched roar.

Even with his Spirit Control Talent, Chen Fan couldn't understand the meaning of that sentence.

The sharp yet low-pitched mixed sound rang out again:

[Reaper.]

"Reaper? Is that your species?"

"Yes, ya!"

"Alright then, I'll call you Reaper."

Chen Fan nodded slightly and opened the surveillance footage of The Five Women.

At this time, the war over in the city was entering its final stages.

The Commander-in-Chief had been captured, several core elders had fled, and the military district instantly lost its command power.

Initially, Army General Lin Hui had wanted to consolidate the army and wipe out the Crew Members.

However, seeing the military camp blocked, the long-suffering residents in the city spontaneously formed militias and began to resist Lin Hui.

This infuriated Lin Hui to no end, and he led his elite troops on a massacre.

And he had the corpses of the civilians transported to the sinkhole by the truckload.

At this moment, he still didn't know that Leviathan had already defected.

In the past, transporting civilians was done in secret, and the transport trucks were all sealed.

At this very moment, Lin Hui's personal guards could no longer care about such things and were tossing corpses onto the trucks right in the middle of the street.

The militias hiding in the shadows finally reached their breaking point.

With teeth gritted, they rushed out:

"Brothers, let's fuck them up!"

"Charge! Kill these animals!"
