296: Chapter 296 Discovered

After a few flashes, the ghost ship came to a stop at the entrance of the church.

Watching the endless stream of ships, Jiu Jiu couldn't help but exclaim:

"It seems this church is the core building of the City of the Demon Dragon."

Chen Fan nodded slightly. Just as he was about to speak, he saw a strangely shaped ship sailing out from inside the church.

At the stern of this ship, there was a thick, tube-like object that looked like some kind of transport pipeline.

The ships passing by all carefully steered clear of this vessel.

Chen Fan's eyes flashed as a certain hypothesis formed in his mind.

He steered the ghost ship to the side, his gaze locked onto the strange vessel.

After a long while, the ship sailed into the port building.

Under the surveillance of his Domain, a black-clad Crew Member aimed the tube-like object at the stern toward a furnace inside the room that was glowing with a pale blue light.

"Are they transferring energy?"

Death's eyes lit up, and he looked at Chen Fan with burning intensity.

"It should be. Don't be impatient."

Chen Fan shook his head with a smile. "Once we figure out the source, we'll have an endless supply of energy."

"Mm-hmm." Death nodded repeatedly.

"So what do we do now? Go straight in?"

"Let's go in and take a look; this church is a bit strange."

Chen Fan rubbed his chin.

He had just scanned the church area using his Domain.

But strangely, there was a building in the center of the church that his Domain couldn't penetrate.

After pondering for a moment, Chen Fan put away the ghost ship and teleported with the two of them to the berth.

It was already packed with ships.

Carefully avoiding the people walking along the way, the three of them headed straight toward the central building.

The flow of people inside the church was immense.

Besides those who came to pray, there were many Middle-aged Men holding their sick children, seeking treatment from church staff.

When passing by the relief area, Chen Fan stopped and looked over with a frown.

Jiu Jiu and the other person also stopped. After taking a few looks, they couldn't help but show expressions of anger.

It was called relief, but in reality, it was a business of trading life essence and organs for energy.

Impoverished people who couldn't survive would walk into the relief area, only to have their life essence drained, leaving them even paler, just like the mother and child they had encountered earlier.

Some elderly people would even let them cut out their own organs in exchange for a small amount of energy.

"These animals."

Jiu Jiu was so angry that her breathing stalled, and she cursed through gritted teeth.

Beside her, Death was also frowning deeply at the sight.

Although he wasn't human, such behavior of persecuting fellow beings also filled him with disdain.

Chen Fan took a deep breath, looked around, and whispered:

"Let's go. Let's start the Exploration of the central building first."

The three continued forward, but after seeing that scene, no one was in the mood to talk.

With a mix of teleporting and walking, they reached the entrance of the central building ten minutes later.

The golden, magnificent gate stood in stark contrast to the desolate scene outside.

At the entrance, many people wearing vibrant robes walked into the building with gentle smiles on their faces.

The three followed quietly.

Even though they were at the door and could see the scene inside with their own eyes, their Domain perception still couldn't penetrate inside.

Chen Fan narrowed his eyes and glanced at the outer wall of the building.

After sensing carefully for a moment, he discovered that there was a thin layer of energy membrane around the building, and it was this membrane that was blocking their perception.

"Stop!" Chen Fan whispered sharply.

The two were just about to enter the room, but upon hearing Chen Fan's voice, they froze with their legs raised in mid-air.

"What's wrong?"

Chen Fan shook his head slightly. "You wait here; I'll go in and take a look."

With that, he gently stepped forward with his right foot.

Just as his right leg crossed the threshold, a piercing sound rang out.

"Warning, intruder detected."

"Warning, intruder detected."

Chen Fan was stunned for only a moment before he pulled his leg back and grabbed the other two, one in each hand.

"Go!"

With a sharp shout, the three instantly vanished from the spot and reappeared a kilometer away.

As soon as they landed, Chen Fan looked back.

At this moment, the building gates were tightly shut, and a vast number of black-clad men surrounded the building with firearms in hand.

Looking closely, many dust particles were floating in the air within a range of dozens of meters around the building.

"Could it be that those dust particles are used for revealing presence?"

Chen Fan's eyes flashed as he thought of the Gang Yao Metropolis.

So far, he had only encountered two things capable of revealing his presence.

The first was the defense turret placed in Huaxia City.

The second was the light shield worn by the commanders in the Gang Yao Metropolis.

Before him, there might be two more. Whether it was inside the building or the dust floating outside.

"Brother, were you discovered even while invisible?" Jiu Jiu asked, somewhat surprised.

"Yes." Chen Fan frowned slightly.

"What now?" Death also felt that it was tricky.

"Wait and see what they want to do."

Jumping onto the ghost ship, Chen Fan crossed his arms and locked his gaze onto the central building.

Over there, after a long time of commotion, they still hadn't found the intruder.

Consequently, a small squad of black-clad men pushed the door open and ran into the building.

A moment later, Chen Fan's eyelids twitched.

Because he discovered that the huge tower on the roof of the central building had actually started to glow.

A pale blue light gradually flickered, illuminating the dark city slightly.

After a while, the pale blue light stopped flickering and transformed into a screen of light.

From within the light screen, a beam of strong light was projected, shining onto the location where the ghost ship was.

At the same time, the image of the ghost ship was projected onto the light screen.

Chen Fan's eyes widened, and he instinctively activated teleportation, reappearing a kilometer away.

However, the beam didn't let them go; it instantly turned and locked onto the ghost ship again.

"Leave the city."

Chen Fan shouted lowly, and he used teleportation repeatedly.

After several consecutive uses, the ghost ship appeared outside the city.

The strong light projected by the screen searched for a moment, failed to find the target, and then dissipated.

The light screen then turned black.

"What on earth is that thing?"

Jiu Jiu patted her chest, looking lingeringly fearful.

"I don't know, but with that thing around, our infiltration plan is useless."

Death said, feeling somewhat depressed.

Chen Fan watched the gradually chaotic city, and after a long while, he smiled:

"It doesn't matter; this makes things a bit more interesting."

"You can still laugh." Jiu Jiu rolled her eyes at Chen Fan.

"Of course I can. Don't you think that tower is amazing?"

"Amazing, amazing to the point where we can't even infiltrate it."

Jiu Jiu blinked, then suddenly realized: "Are you planning to take it back?"

"Yeah, the more powerful it is, the more useful it will be to us. Let's think of a way."

Chen Fan pinched her pretty face, his brain racing.
