288: Chapter 288 The Capitalist's Blessing

Chen You left Loader Xier with a simple "Shift's over" before directly exiting the trial space.

Returning to the Supreme Tower, he once again opened the attribute panels for the three God Stones.

【Destiny God Stone · Divine Might Like Hell】

【Quality: Mythic】

【Effect: When your area-of-effect attacks hit a target, there is a 3% chance to trigger the 'Divine Might' effect. This attack's range is expanded by 1000%, up to a maximum of 1000 meters.】

【Destiny God Stone · Undying Body】

【Quality: Mythic】

【Effect: When receiving fatal damage, health is forcibly maintained at 1 point, and an invincibility shield lasting 3 seconds is granted. Cooldown: 24 hours.】

【Destiny God Stone · Spiritual Power Source】

【Quality: Mythic】

【Effect: Maximum Spiritual Power increased by 100%. While out of combat, recovers 5% of maximum Spiritual Power per second; while in combat, skill consumption is reduced by 30%.】

As Chen You equipped and used the three God Stones, he immediately felt an unprecedented surge of majestic power coursing through his body.

"Sorted. Let's leave it at that for now."

Only then did he look toward Xier.

Behind the counter, Xier—the senior customer service representative who usually maintained a perfect professional smile and was always elegant and proper—was currently facing away from him.

In her hand was a snow-white velvet cloth, and she was frantically wiping a glass countertop that was already polished to a mirror shine.

The frequency of her wiping was extremely high, to the point where a "creak-creak" friction sound could be heard.

Her long hair looked somewhat disheveled, and her originally silky long dress seemed to have a few wrinkles.

Most importantly, around those eyes that were usually full of life, there was a faint layer of dark circles that wouldn't fade.

Chen You walked forward and lightly tapped twice on the glass countertop with his knuckles.

Knock, knock.

Xier's whole body gave a violent shudder, and the cloth in her hand nearly fell to the floor.

She turned around stiffly, her face squeezing out a smile that looked more painful than crying.

"Hon... Honorable supreme member, may I ask if there is anything else you need service with?"

Her voice was wavering, even carrying a hint of a tremble.

"It's nothing." Chen You leaned both hands on the counter, leaning forward to look at her with a beaming smile.

"I just saw how hard you're working. As a supreme member, I'm very gratified."

"But you know, for young people, enduring a bit of hardship is a good thing. This is all valuable wealth for your career—a blessing. Do you understand?"

The corners of Xier's eyes twitched violently twice.

A blessing?

Over ten consecutive hours of high-intensity exercise!

In that damned coastal defense fortress, she had hauled tens of thousands of heavy magic-guided crossbow bolts!

Her arms were still habitually cramping right now!

But as an NPC, what could she do?

Looking at Xier's murderous gaze, Chen You gave a faint smile.

"Speaking of which, this is a bug in your system. Logically, shouldn't the values reset every time a trial starts? Your programmers haven't noticed this?"

"Yes... you are right." Xier took a deep breath. "In that case, if you have no other instructions, I will go attend to other..."

"What's the rush?" Chen You waved his hand, interrupting her. "I haven't done my supreme lucky draw for today yet."

Xier's movements paused, and she immediately called up a virtual panel. "Very well, I will open the Supreme Wheel for you immediately. I wish you good luck."

Chen You looked at the massive golden wheel emerging before him, his heart not feeling the slightest ripple.

He didn't hold much hope today either; it was purely a matter of routine, and incidentally, to enjoy Xier's aggrieved look of being furious but not daring to speak out.

"Spin it." Chen You casually tapped the start button in the center of the wheel.

The massive golden wheel began to spin rapidly, the pointer sweeping across various zones.

White, green, and blue lights alternated continuously.

Chen You let out a yawn, his gaze still sizing up Xier's messy hair.

The speed of the wheel gradually slowed down.

The pointer slowly slid past a purple 'Earth Grade' zone and continued to move forward.

Chen You raised an eyebrow. Oh, luck is pretty good today. Could I actually snag an Earth Grade reward?

However, the pointer did not stop; with an extremely weak yet abnormally persistent force, it crossed the purple boundary.

It came to a steady halt within a zone emitting a piercing golden light.

Buzz—!

The entire lobby of the Supreme Tower was instantly illuminated by golden light, to the point where even the magic crystal chandeliers overhead paled in comparison to this glow.

The system notification sounded like a thunderclap in Chen You's ear.

【Ding! Congratulations, you have obtained a Heaven Grade reward in the Supreme Lucky Draw!】

【Ding! You have obtained a special item: Broken Astral Pathfinding Compass!】

Chen You was stunned.

Xier was also stunned.

The two of them stared at each other, then at the dark-gold compass slowly floating down in mid-air, emitting an ancient and profound aura.

Chen You reached out and took the compass; it was icy to the touch and covered in dense, unknown runes.

The pointer was a broken black crystal, trembling slightly and pointing toward a certain direction in the void.

He immediately opened the item attributes.

【Broken Astral Pathfinding Compass】

【Quality: Legendary (Damaged)】

【Type: Quest Item】

【Description: An astral compass said to belong to a certain fallen deity. It once guided the way to the lost divine kingdom of 'Abyssal Sea'. Due to its age and severe damage, it can currently only provide a vague direction.】

【Effect: Carrying this item can trigger the Legendary chain quest 【Stars Sinking into the Great Sea】.】

【Note: Completing this quest chain has a very small probability of obtaining a Mythic-grade exclusive reward.】

A Legendary quest?

And it can even drop a Mythic reward?

Chen You couldn't help but suck in a breath of cold air.

Why does it feel like Mythic rewards are everywhere now?

The probability of this should be lower than getting hit by a meteorite the moment you step outside, right?

Chen You weighed the compass in his hand and slowly looked up, casting a strange gaze at Xier behind the counter.

Xier felt her skin crawl under his gaze and subconsciously took a step back. "What... what are you looking at me for? Congratulations on obtaining a Heaven Grade reward..."

"Xier." Chen You rubbed his chin, his tone eerie.

"Yes... I'm here."

"This broken wheel has been giving out nothing but trash for the past few days." Chen You stared into her eyes.

"Today, right after I exploited... no, right after I finished guiding your work, it turns around and gives me a Heaven Grade."

Xier swallowed hard. "This... this shows that your fortune is flourishing, and you are destined by heaven."

"Bullshit." Chen You sneered and suddenly slapped the table. "Do you take me for a three-year-old?"

Xier jumped in fright and didn't dare to speak.

"Confess!" Chen You pointed at Xier's nose and said with a look of pained disappointment.

"Did you deliberately use internal permissions to rig the draw and shove this big prize to me just so I would hurry up and get lost, so I wouldn't stay in the Supreme Tower and continue to torture you?!"

Xier's eyes widened as if she had heard some absurd fairy tale.

Her lips trembled as she pointed at Chen You, her eyes instantly turning red—out of pure rage.

"You... you're making false accusations!" Xier finally snapped, her image as a cold and elegant customer service representative completely shattering.

"I'm just a receptionist! Where would I get the authority to modify the drop rates of the Supreme Wheel! That's controlled by the system's main brain!"

"If I had that authority, the first thing I would do is change your draw probability to a negative number! I'd make you draw trash for a lifetime!"

The more Xier spoke, the more aggrieved she felt, tears welling up in her eyes.

Was it easy for her?

She had been ordered around like slave labor for most of the day, exhausted to within an inch of her life. Finally, this plague of a man had drawn a big prize and was ready to leave, but he actually turned around and bit her, slandering her for rigging the draw?

"It really wasn't you?" Chen You looked at the nearly crying Xier and suspiciously withdrew his hand.

"Get out! Take your compass and get out!" Xier pointed at the door, her voice cracking.

"Tsk, young people these days have such poor stress tolerance." Chen You shook his head and stuffed the compass into his backpack.

"Fine, fine, I'll leave. Remember to clean the lobby properly. I'll come back to inspect tomorrow."

With that, Chen You ignored the sound of teeth grinding behind him and strode out of the Supreme Tower.

Stepping out of the main gate, the sunlight of Thousand Light City spilled over him, and Chen You took a long, deep stretch.

He thought for a moment and headed toward the City Lord's Mansion first.

This Legendary quest would likely require traveling quite far. He should go hand in the main quest first; maybe the next steps would be on the way!
