449: Chapter 449 You Don't Understand Me
"Six eights?"
Chen You tightened his grip on the yuhuang sword, the tip barely three inches from the other's brow.
He did not lower his guard just because the other had answered the password correctly.
In this Source Realm where one could cultivate immortality, deducing such things was nothing.
"Palace jade liquid wine?" Chen You stared at the eyes that were identical to his own and blurted out the phrase.
The Chen You under the mountain rolled his eyes, his only movable right hand impatiently scratching at the dirt on the ground: "One hundred eighty a cup."
"Can you come up with something harder? How many years old are these stale memes!"
Chen You remained unmoved, his speaking pace quickening: "Which excavator technical school is the best?"
"Find Lanxiang in Shandong, China."
"Odd change, even stay?"
"Sign depends on the quadrant." The fake Chen You squirmed violently in the pit, causing a dull sound of grinding stones, his tone growing increasingly impatient.
"Love you walking alone in the dark alley, love your unyielding posture. The great river flows east, the stars in the sky join the Big Dipper."
"Are you f***ing done yet? Hurry up and get me out of here; this damn mountain is pressing down so hard my lumbar disc is about to herniate!"
Chen You fell silent.
The wind blew across the rocky beach beneath Five Finger Mountain, making a wailing sound.
To be able to answer such stale memes, which were engraved in the DNA of every Chinese person, so fluently—even preemptively—was incredible.
This was definitely not something ordinary mind-reading could achieve.
Mind-reading could only access surface thoughts, whereas these stale memes were reflex arcs buried deep in the subconscious.
The other possessed his complete memories.
Chen You did not put away his sword; instead, he took half a step back, opening up a safe attack distance.
His mind raced.
The expert group had previously warned him that the Yuanjie System might already have begun targeting him at the rule level.
The system had its underlying logical limitations and could not simply strike down a reasonable and legitimate player like him with a bolt of heavenly lightning for no reason.
Since it could not directly obliterate him, it would use magic to defeat magic.
The system had copied him.
A perfect replica possessing all his memories, personality, and perhaps even an identical skill panel.
"Are you going to save me or not?" Seeing that Chen You was hesitant to act, the fake Chen You's temper flared.
"I don't know how long I've been pressed here; I've been eating, drinking, and shitting in this half-square-meter space."
"If you don't split this damn mountain open, we'll both end up as wild men in this desolate wilderness!"
Chen You ignored his clamoring.
He narrowed his eyes, his gaze sweeping over the top of the fake Chen You's head.
No health bar.
No name.
And certainly no red name tag representing a hostile target.
The rules of the Source Realm were very rigid; as long as it was a monster or hostile NPC, it would definitely show a red name.
Even the city lord who had tried to scam him earlier had changed color the moment the hostile judgment was triggered.
But this replica before him did not.
Friendly unit.
"So that's how it is." A possibility occurred to Chen You.
He understood.
The system did indeed want to kill him, but it dared not act directly, nor did it dare to label this replica as a "monster."
Because once judged as a monster, Chen You could justifiably blast him to smithereens using various items and skills.
The system wanted to use this replica to extract more of his secrets.
It might even want this replica to replace him at a critical moment and become the Source Realm's "undercover agent" on Earth.
"What are you laughing at?" The fake Chen You felt unnerved by his laughter and slammed his right hand against the ground, "I'm warning you, we're now grasshoppers on the same rope."
"This Five Finger Mountain is a hidden dungeon; if you don't let me out, you can't leave here!"
"Is that so?"
Chen You flipped his wrist, the yuhuang sword performing a graceful sword flourish in the air before "clanging" into the rock beside him.
Instead of splitting the mountain, he sat down on a stone in front of the fake Chen You.
"What are you doing?" The fake Chen You widened his eyes.
"Nothing much." Chen You leisurely pulled a handful of melon seeds from his backpack, cracked one, and said, "I suddenly feel that the scenery of Five Finger Mountain is quite nice, perfect for moon-viewing."
"Are you f***ing crazy?" The fake Chen You roared, "There's not even a ghost in this damn place, what moon are you viewing! Hurry up and split the mountain!"
Chen You spat out the seed shell and clapped his hands.
"Do you think I'm stupid?" Chen You leaned forward, staring at the face in the pit that was identical to his own.
"Since you possess my memories, you should know what kind of person I am."
The fake Chen You didn't speak, his eyes flickering.
"I am someone who fears death and is driven solely by profit. When I encounter trouble, my first reaction is to call for backup; when I encounter danger, my first reaction is to throw money at it."
Chen You pointed to his own nose, "Since you are me, why aren't you throwing money at the problem now that you're pinned under the mountain?"
The fake Chen You gritted his teeth: "My backpack is sealed! This damn mountain has a magic-suppression barrier!"
"Oh, magic-suppression."
Chen You nodded, looking as if he had just realized something.
He stood up, walked to the edge of the pit, and looked down at the fake Chen You.
"Since you are me, you should know what we should be doing right now," Chen You said leisurely.
The Chen You under the mountain didn't hesitate: "Nonsense! Obviously, it's to overturn this damn mountain and let me out."
"Then we merge, and we can hack anyone we see! Looking across the entire Source Realm, it will all be ours!"
Chen You laughed.
He laughed craftily, even with a hint of mockery.
"You've given yourself away." Chen You dusted off his hands and turned around, facing away from the other.
"You possess my memories, perfectly replicated my appearance, and even my tone of voice is exactly the same."
Chen You turned his head back.
"But you, you don't understand me at all."
The Chen You under the mountain froze, the impatience on his face instantly solidified: "What kind of nonsense are you spouting?"
"If I were truly pressed here, with no one to call for help," Chen You pointed to his nose, his tone righteous, "my first reaction would absolutely not be to go out and hack people."
"I would immediately force a logout and shout, 'Director, help! I'm not playing this damn game anymore! This matter isn't over without a billion or eight hundred million in workers' compensation!'"
Chen You spread his hands.
"Hack people? That's something a brute would do."
"I'm a life-cherishing corporate slave, and I have the backing of the state. Why should I risk my life myself?"
The expression of the Chen You under the mountain froze completely.
On that identical face, a trace of extremely stiff stuttering appeared.
"The system sent you, didn't it?" Chen You exposed him, his voice turning cold.
"Trying to use my face to trick me into talking? Or wanting to use my hand to trigger some destructive rule?"
As soon as he finished speaking.
"Hum——"
An extremely piercing buzzing sound suddenly exploded throughout Five Finger Mountain.
The rocky beach beneath his feet shook violently.
Boom!
Those five dark cyan mountain peaks suddenly swayed, and the obscure runes on the surface of the mountains instantly shattered, turning into golden specks of light filling the sky.
A fierce wind suddenly rose, sending sand and stones flying.
