434: Chapter 434 They really don't give me any face at all.
The moment the new arena took shape, there was another loud boom.
Boom—!
Three thick pillars of light tore through the crimson sky without warning, crashing down upon three floating thrones directly behind the arena.
A violent wave of air swept across the venue, forcing the players in the front row to retreat repeatedly.
As the light dissipated, three figures were revealed.
On the left throne sat a five-meter-tall giant of a man, sitting imperiously with bulging muscles all over his body, a circular protrusion on his forehead flashing with violent lightning.
Titan God Clan, Berserker, number one on the server's level leaderboard—Salos.
On the center throne, an elf clad in a moon-white robe toyed with a jade-green longbow in her hands, her long, pointed ears twitching slightly and her eyes sharp.
Elf God Clan, Magic Archer, number two on the server's level leaderboard—Arrow of the Moon.
On the right throne was a member of the Roman God Clan with scaly patterns on his jaw. He held a pure white staff, with phantoms of holy scriptures swirling around him.
Roman God Clan, Oracle, number three on the server's level leaderboard—Oro.
The top three players of the entire server had gathered so abruptly in Cangxing City.
The plaza instantly fell dead silent.
The players' hands holding glow sticks froze in midair, their very breathing coming to a halt.
These three were the current ceiling of combat power in the Source Realm, individuals who were normally impossible to meet, yet today they had descended at the same time.
On their thrones, the three were also completely bewildered.
Salos hefted his battleaxe and looked around. "What's the situation? I was in the middle of beating someone up, how did I get forcefully dragged here?"
Arrow of the Moon furrowed her brows, warily scanning the red and blue camps below. "Forced spatial teleportation? A law fluctuation of this level, could it be some world event?"
Oro closed his eyes, seemingly communicating with a deity. A moment later, he snapped his eyes open, an extremely absurd expression appearing on his originally compassionate face.
Ding!
A crisp system notification rang out in the ears of the three, as well as in the minds of everyone present at the same time.
[The Purge Mode judging panel is now in place.]
[Judges confirmed: Salos, Arrow of the Moon, Oro.]
[Judging Rules: Both camps will engage in 1v1 dance battles. After each round, the three judges will cast subjective votes. The side with the most votes wins.]
[The winning side gains one point. When the 30-minute countdown ends, the side lagging in total points will face 'complete purge'.]
"Da... Dancing?" Salos's eyes widened, his voice booming like a great bell.
"I'm a freaking Berserker, and you dragged me here to be a dance judge?!"
Below the arena, Chen You looked up at the three on the thrones, the corners of his eyes twitching madly.
He understood.
The system was intentionally targeting him.
In the previous Voice of Star Source preliminary auditions, these three big shots had also signed up to participate, attempting to take home the massive prize of fifty thousand gold coins.
And the result?
Salos's "Titan War Dance" had been evaluated by Chen You as "like a constipated gorilla, completely lacking in aesthetic appeal," with a score of 0.
Arrow of the Moon's "Solo Dance Under the Moon" had been evaluated by Chen You as "lacking any sense of power, limp as if she hasn't eaten," with a score of 0.
Oro's "Oracle Hymn" had been evaluated by Chen You as "feudal superstition, not in line with modern core values," with a score of 0.
To guarantee Lin Miao's advancement, Chen You had personally rigged the contest and eliminated these three strongest powerhouses on the server.
Now, the system had dragged them back and handed the power of life and death over to them.
That would surely leave him losing even his underpants.
Lin Miao stood beside Chen You, gripping her glow stick tightly with both hands, her palms drenched in cold sweat.
She leaned close to Captain Chen, her voice trembling. "Captain Chen, do these three judges have a bone to pick with you?"
"Have some confidence. Drop the 'do they'." Chen You was expressionless.
He turned his head to look in the direction of the Supreme Tower.
His main body was still there.
If Cangxing City was "completely purged," would the system rule that his main body be wiped out along with it?
He couldn't gamble on this.
He absolutely could not lose.
Chen You patted Lin Miao's shoulder, signaling her to be at ease.
He strode toward the thrones, the gaze of every player in the venue following his movements.
Salos and the other two naturally noticed Chen You, but they deliberately pretended not to see him.
Times had changed.
Even Arrow of the Moon, who had previously considered herself an ally, deliberately acted cold at this moment.
"Long time no see, you three." Chen You stood below the thrones, looking up with a formulaic smile plastered on his face.
"The wind is strong up on this stage, why don't we step aside for a chat?"
The three exchanged glances.
Salos snorted coldly, getting up while carrying his axe.
Arrow of the Moon landed gracefully.
With a flash of white light around him, Oro appeared in front of Chen You.
"What a twist of fate, big shots," Chen You said, cupping his hands. "The system's arrangement is simply ridiculous."
"Everyone is usually so busy killing monsters, leveling up, and farming gear. Who has the time to watch people wiggle their butts here?"
Salos stared with eyes as wide as copper bells. "Brother Chen, speaking of which, you gave my preliminary performance a score of 0. Don't you think you owe me an explanation?"
Chen You didn't bat an eye. "That was for showmanship."
"If I hadn't said that, how could you have been chosen by the system to be a judge? Look, now you're sitting on the throne. It's called building up to a grand reveal."
Salos was stunned.
His muscle-filled brain seemed unable to process this logic quickly.
Arrow of the Moon spoke flatly, "And what about me?"
"The elegance of the elves is something mortals cannot comprehend."
"I did that to protect you from being defiled by the eyes of the mundane world," Chen You lied through his teeth.
Oro gripped his staff and sighed. "Brother Chen You, the gods teach us to follow our hearts."
"That 0 of yours hurt my heart."
Chen You pulled back his smile and said seriously, "Alright, let's not beat around the bush."
"We all happily ran the festival dungeon together before. Surely you can show me a little face for that?"
The air fell silent for a second.
Though phrased politely, his meaning was actually: I was kind enough to carry you through the dungeon back then, now it's time to pay me back.
"One thing has nothing to do with the other." Salos slammed his battleaxe heavily onto the ground.
"We won those blueprints fair and square by rolling for them, and we paid gold coins too."
"It was a business transaction, how does that count as a favor?"
Chen You nodded.
This musclehead's brain was actually working quite fast today.
Arrow of the Moon plucked her bowstring, her tone complex. "Guild Leader Chen, I admire your strength."
"But in today's situation, I'm afraid it's out of our hands."
Oro shook his head, a compassionate smile on his face. "Brother Chen You, I have always followed my heart."
"I will vote for whoever dances better. Absolute fairness."
"The gods are watching us."
Chen You rolled his eyes in his mind.
As expected, not a single one of them was easy to deal with.
In the face of absolute interests, personal favors simply did not exist.
"You all know me."
Chen You's tone was flat. "I don't care about a reward of tens of thousands of gold coins at all. Do you think I said all this to you for my own sake?"
A hint of bewilderment flashed in Salos's eyes. "What do you mean?"
"Nothing much. I'm just reminding you all that some things are not as simple as they appear on the surface."
Chen You said nothing more, turning to walk off the stage.
If they were going to compete, so be it. Who would win or lose was still undecided.
