355: Chapter 355 It's not easy to put together a team.
At the entrance of the [Snowy Lava] dungeon, the pungent smell of sulfur swirled in the cold wind.
The Titan Temple Berserker, who had been acting all high and mighty just a moment ago, now had the flesh on his face twitching violently.
The greatsword in his hand hit the obsidian ground with a "clang."
The blade grazed the top of his foot, drawing a streak of bright red, yet he didn't even dare to let out a whimper.
"God... God You?"
The Berserker swallowed hard, his tall frame involuntarily shrinking by half.
"You just said you wanted me to roll down from here?" Chen You stood on a giant boulder, looking down at him from above.
"No, no, no!" The Berserker shook his head vigorously, his hands waving frantically in front of his chest.
"I said I'll roll! I'll roll right now! God You, please stand firm; the wind is strong up there!"
As he spoke, he respectfully retreated to the side, fearing that staying a second longer would incur the dissatisfaction of this great god.
The surrounding players finally snapped out of their shock.
Someone was the first to shout, "Holy crap! It really is God You! Level 45!"
"Wasn't he level 36 yesterday? How did he level up so fast?!"
The crowd instantly erupted.
The originally loose small groups frantically swarmed toward the boulder where Chen You was.
"God You! Pick me! I have high defense and thick health; I can tank the mobs!"
"Pick me! I'm the server's only Agility Mage; my positioning is incredibly slick!"
"God You, take me with you! I can break stones on my chest, and I'm as steady as an old dog when it comes to stepping on traps!"
"I can do the splits! I can step on two traps five meters apart at the same time!"
An Elf Thief wearing tight leather armor performed a split on the spot, the sound of tearing ligaments clearly audible.
Chen You rubbed his temples.
What kind of freaks were these?
He raised his hand and pressed down.
"Stop." Chen You's voice wasn't loud, but it was exceptionally clear.
The clamor came to an abrupt halt.
He scanned the hundreds of eager players below.
His gaze lingered for half a second on the Berserker who had put all his points into Intelligence and the mage using fireballs to hit fire monsters.
"Given the tactical literacy you've just displayed, I must conduct a simple screening."
Chen You pointed to the area below the boulder. "Those who want to join the group, line up. I'll ask questions; those who answer correctly get in, and those who answer incorrectly get lost."
The crowd was stunned for a moment, then immediately sprang into action.
In less than half a minute, hundreds of people formed a long line, each one rubbing their hands in anticipation.
Chen You cleared his throat and looked at the "Smartypants" who was first in line.
"First question, listen carefully," Chen You said at a moderate pace.
"If the BOSS is about to release a full-screen instant-kill ultimate move..."
"To your left is an absolutely invincible protective shield, and to your right is a Berserk BUFF that increases attack power by nine hundred percent. Where do you run?"
Smartypants dithered for a moment, then a light of confidence burst from his eyes.
"To the right!" he roared.
"Reason."
"The best defense is a good offense! As long as I get that Berserk BUFF and max out my output, I can kill the BOSS before his instant-kill skill lands!"
Smartypants clenched his fists, his whole body trembling. "This is called an ultimate one-for-one! A man's romance!"
A burst of admiring whispers erupted from the crowd.
"That makes sense!"
"As expected of Smartypants!"
Chen You looked at him expressionlessly.
"Get lost."
Smartypants's smile froze on his face. "Huh? Why?"
"Because you're too smart." Chen You pointed to the side. "Next."
"Aw, man!"
Smartypants sighed heavily, wearing an expression that said "blame me for being too excellent," and then retreated to the side looking like he'd lost his parents.
The second one up was the Berserker who had put all his points into Intelligence.
He held his head high, his eyes gleaming with "wisdom."
"Your turn." Chen You looked at him. "There are three circles on the ground. The red circle drains health every second, the green circle restores health every second, and the blue circle increases movement speed."
"Now the BOSS has targeted you, and lightning will strike from the sky in three seconds. Where do you run?"
The Berserker sneered as if he had seen through everything. "Too easy! This question tests reverse thinking!"
He held up a finger and pointed to the sky. "I just calculated it; the falling speed of the lightning is related to the air humidity. I choose to stand in the blue circle!"
"Why?" Chen You raised an eyebrow.
"Because the blue circle adds movement speed! As long as I run fast enough, the lightning won't be able to hit me!" the Berserker said triumphantly.
Chen You took a deep breath, suppressing the urge to pull out the yuhuang sword.
"The lightning is locked onto you; it will hit you even if you run to the ends of the earth."
"Then stand in the red circle!" a Fire Mage shouted from the back.
"Use the electric element of the lightning to electrolyze the poison element of the red circle! It's called a chemical reaction!"
Chen You felt like he was about to have a brain hemorrhage.
He pointed to a timid Priest at the very back of the crowd. "You, the one with the wooden stick, you tell me."
The Priest was startled and stammered, "I... I'd run away from the crowd to an empty spot... so I don't hit my teammates with the lightning..."
Chen You snapped his fingers. "Pass. Stand to my left."
The Priest looked incredulous and ran to Chen You's left in ecstasy.
Regretful sighs immediately erupted from the crowd.
"Next question." Chen You picked up the pace.
The screening process was long and torturous.
Chen You witnessed the diversity of species.
When faced with the question "What should you do when the BOSS summons mobs?", someone answered, "Reason with the mobs and persuade them to leave the darkness for the light."
When faced with the question "What should you do if the healer is out of mana?", someone answered, "Drain your own blood for the healer to drink."
Chen You felt his patience being drained bit by bit.
He even began to suspect if the Source Realm had recruited these people to conduct some kind of test on the lower limit of intelligence.
It took a full half-hour before Chen You barely managed to scrape together thirty-nine people.
"Alright, that's enough of you." Chen You jumped down from the boulder and brushed the dust off his clothes.
The players who weren't chosen sighed and looked longingly at the team.
"God You, really won't consider me again? My intelligence is very high!" That Berserker was still making a final struggle.
Chen You ignored him and turned to walk toward the massive obsidian arch.
The thirty-nine "lucky ones" followed closely behind him, like a brood of chicks afraid of losing their mother hen.
[Raid Channel]
Chen You (Leader): Listen up.
Chen You (Leader): Once we're in the dungeon, everyone follows my commands.
Chen You (Leader): If I don't tell you to move, stay exactly where you are like wooden statues.
Chen You (Leader): Run wherever I tell you to run; even if there's a cliff ahead, you jump.
Chen You (Leader): Don't touch anything that looks like a switch, and don't talk to any NPCs.
Chen You (Leader): All drops will be ROLLED for by class.
Chen You (Leader): Type 1 if you understand, 2 if you have questions.
A neat string of "1"s scrolled through the raid channel.
"Very good."
Under the gaze of hundreds of eyes, Chen You was the first to step through the gate.
The thirty-nine tools followed closely behind, not even daring to breathe loudly.
