102: Chapter 102 [Domain], Mia's?
"Very well." The Original Owner suddenly released his hand, and the [Azure Green Vine] immediately formed a wall of vines that looked very sturdy, blocking the space between Mia and the Original Owner.
The Original Owner turned to Tuaner, who was holding a Coordination Office spiritual power rifle aimed at his brow, "Take care of your beloved little wife, your bestie!"
He threw out a piece of parchment, "Tuaner, next time if you dare to disturb my enjoyment again, or step into my Domain…"
The parchment nailed itself to the ground by Tuaner's feet, revealing a miserable image of Mia being impaled by an iron maiden.
"Then it will be super doubled…"
Ryan suddenly transformed into a werewolf, "You f*cking—"
"Don't move!" He Xi grabbed him, "That cathedral is devouring the 'concept of existence' of the entire street… Look at the streetlights!"
Everyone turned their heads in astonishment—
The streetlights went out one by one, not because of a power outage, but disappearing from history as if they "had never been installed"!
"I'm leaving. Anyone want to follow and fight to the death?" The Original Owner looked back at the crowd with a fierce, predatory gaze.
The stained-glass windows of the Nightmare Cathedral shone brightly, and everyone was forcibly ejected from the street.
The last thing they saw was him grabbing the "soul" of the convenience store wreckage and tying it in a knot as if he were packing up a trash bag.
Boom!
Reality stitched itself back together.
Everyone collapsed in front of the "Sweet Dream Flower Shop," the distance ahead empty—the convenience store, the cathedral, and even the traces of battle were all gone, as if what just happened was just a collective hallucination.
Only the new shackles that appeared on Mia's wrist proved that everything had really happened; chains were wrapped around her left wrist, with a miniature iron maiden connected to the end.
"When she was my plastic bestie, she wasn't this difficult to deal with, right?"
"I think he didn't just suck away your decisiveness and ruthlessness," Tuaner's gaze moved down from Mia's neck a short distance, and she smacked her lips.
"He might have also sucked away your brain, and additionally compensated you with some other useless things…"
Mia soon received a system prompt: a new deceased had been added to the [Nightmare Cathedral] cemetery—[Weird Convenience Store Manager (Fake)].
Acquired skill [Forced Trade: The host can designate one of their own inherent skills, talents, or states (positive or negative effects are both acceptable) to become ineffective during this battle. Simultaneously, designate one of the opponent's known skills, talents, or state bonuses to also become ineffective.]
(The survival maintenance system scoffs at such typical self-defeating behavior! Hehehe!)
Mia turned back to look at her teammates: the terrified and crying Xiaoya (uh, she doesn't count), Sister Loran who was checking Mia up and down, worried about her injuries, the pouting Tuaner, the silent Ryan, and the dumbfounded He Xi (she doesn't count either).
She shook her head; forget it, she'd been busy all day, better to finish up and go home first.
Just as she turned around, He Xi grabbed her, "That man said he shares a body and soul with you, so that [Domain] is yours too?"
"Uh…" Mia thought about it; it seemed there really was a small part of it that was hers in the cathedral. (The altar for suffering, the dining table, the iron maiden, and the cemetery in the backyard where the enemies killed by the Original Owner were buried and where Mia acquired skills.) For a moment, she didn't know how to answer.
He Xi didn't know what she had imagined, but she hurriedly put on her helmet, greeted everyone, and rode her motorcycle away, speeding toward the Coordination Office.
Mia stared at the shackles and gave a wry smile. She had really become prey now, the kind that was being kept in captivity for observation and research…
Ryan seemed to have something on his mind; he lowered his head, greeted everyone, and left on his own.
Sister Loran and her daughter were planning to follow Mia and Tuaner to stay at their place for the night. Her excuse was actually that it was too late, and she was worried about these two beautiful, delicate sisters, fearing they might run into perverts on the road…
"So four beautiful, delicate women standing together is enough to make a pervert back off? Instead of doubling the fun?" Tuaner looked at Sister Loran, who was actually forty but looked in her twenties, and muttered with a bit of a lack of confidence.
Sister Loran pointed at the [Azure Green Vine], "Eliminating harm for the people and destroying the evidence—it's not like it's the first time."
Xiaoya nodded desperately behind her mother to show her agreement.
"Let's forget about destroying the evidence, Sister Loran. If we really encounter bad guys, we can beat them up and then call He Xuan to handle it." Mia felt that Loran seemed to have been provoked by the Original Owner's arrogance.
When the group arrived at Tuaner's doorstep, they found a man squatting on the ground smoking next to the gate, who looked quite familiar.—He Xuan.
He Xuan was squatting under the porch of Tuaner's front gate, the cigarette butt between his fingers flickering. Seeing Mia and the others return, he stood up nimbly and patted the non-existent wrinkles on his pants (caused by squatting).
"It's so late, finally willing to let yourself get off work?" Tuaner was the type who couldn't stop once she started tearing someone down.
He Xuan ignored Tuaner's teasing, his gaze locking directly onto Mia. His eyes were more solemn than usual, as if he were deliberating something.
"Are you actually an Adventurer who possesses a [Domain]?" He Xuan asked seriously, staring into Mia's eyes.
"Yes." Mia responded briefly, raising her wrist to reveal the newly formed shackles; the flame inside the iron maiden pendant hanging from the shackles was still flickering unceasingly.
He Xuan stared at the chains, his expression subtle: "Your [Nightmare Cathedral] has upgraded? The Coordination Office just detected a B-level Weird Domain disappearing instantly, and immediately after, your [Domain] was judged by the detection system to be A+ level."
Sister Loran's lazy and calm voice came, "So?"
He Xuan sighed and took a report from his pocket, throwing it to Mia: "The higher-ups are deliberating."
Mia flipped through the report, which had the following printed on it— [Emergency Plan] Risk Assessment: Mia (Nightmare Cathedral Symbiote) Threat Level Increased, tentatively A+ level (pending observation) Countermeasure: Prioritize win-win cooperation, avoid hostility.
"Does it mean—'Don't provoke her, or you'll be grabbed by that man and fed to the cathedral'?" Tuaner whistled, unceremoniously poking through the truth. "Just like those Clerics who were originally hunting Ryan were allowed to enter?"
He Xuan didn't deny it, instead looking at Mia: "You know the true meaning of a 'Domain', right?"
Mia was silent for a moment, then nodded, and then shook her head.
"That is not ordinary power…" He Xuan lowered his voice, "A [Domain] is essentially a person's 'soul domain.' If the cathedral is your other half, then you can actually interfere with its rules—provided you are strong enough."
Mia clenched her fists, her fingertips digging into her palms.
Could she? Every time she entered the Nightmare Cathedral, she was like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered. Attribute deprivation, the shackle placed on her head, kept her in an absolute disadvantage.
He Xuan seemed to see through her thoughts and suddenly smiled: "Have you forgotten—most of the 'spoils' in the cemetery were your kills?"
Mia was stunned.
"You can try to… turn the tables." After He Xuan finished speaking meaningfully, he took out his car keys, "Alright, I should go. If I stay any longer, I'm afraid Tuaner will stare me to death."
