59: Chapter 59 One Against a Thousand!
Standing there, waiting for the cavalry charge, Ryan Nephalem calmly pulled out a crumpled little piece of paper he had tucked into his arm guard.
It read: Goblin Slayer said:
"Ambush them. They like to ambush humans but aren't used to being ambushed by us. (Impossible, completely impossible.)"
"When attacking, aim for their lower body, specifically the fan-shaped area around their feet. (Hmm, this is promising. Hammers and shields can be swung lower.)"
"Goblins are small and agile, but their agility isn't particularly high. (Just sweep them away.)"
"They will definitely use human shields. First, cast a hypnosis spell, then try your best to save people. (Looks like the Dwarf brother and the Witch are handling this, that's good.)"
"Don't cast offensive spells; save your spell slots for other spells. (This part was crossed out. Mia and Tuaner don't need to worry about their mana, let alone me?)"
"Try to kill enemies with cold weapons. (Ryan Nephalem looked at the gleaming, sharp wolf claws under his gauntlets...)"
"First, defeat the spellcasters. Don't let them get behind you. (Ryan Nephalem looked at the army formation in front of him, all cavalry...)"
"Always keep moving, make small weapon swings. Maintain your stamina. (Ryan Nephalem swung his [grief] like a windmill three times. He felt he could kill at least a hundred Goblins...)"
"Hmph, they laughed at me when I took notes (though it feels useless to me now), but this time, watch me save them!" Ryan Nephalem lowered his visor, cast [Bloody Frenzy], his body expanding threefold, then slapped a [Knight's Blessing] on himself, drawing a [Piety Aura] that increased his armor by 15%. A bright white phantom shield merged into his body.
Looking at himself, now tougher, Ryan Nephalem suddenly felt a slight sense of pride. He gazed at the twin moons, "Last time I had no teammates; this time is a rehearsal for a national war. Just watch me."
"Awoo—" A loud wolf howl pierced the clouds, and the entire battlefield paused. Then, the entire wolf cavalry stopped, all the Wargs crouching in place, trembling. While the Goblin Cavalry Commander was still confused, a huge black shadow was already rushing towards him. He suddenly looked up, only to be struck by a shield and sent flying. The last thing he saw was a pair of crimson wolf eyes...
If one were to look down upon the entire battlefield from the sky right now, they would see an incredibly strange sight: a giant wolf in Paladin armor, with crimson eyes, charging on all fours towards nearly a hundred Goblin Wolf Riders, successfully piercing through their cavalry formation. As he advanced, his path was littered with Goblin limbs and severed body parts. Ryan Nephalem, one against a thousand!
Ryan Nephalem was like a massive ship crashing into waves, using the high-level deterrence of his own race to halt the entire Wolf Rider troop's charge, then plunging into the Goblins, who were slightly dazed on their Wargs.
The effect of [grief] was a nightmare for the Goblins; the dead ones, with their broken limbs, stuck to the hammer, while those who miraculously survived were terrified by the deterrent effect and fled in disarray.
Shield bash, bite, slash...
Ryan Nephalem mechanically repeated the muscle memory actions, head down, until the surroundings seemed much emptier. In a small patch of grass nearby, stained red with Goblin blood, only he, the somewhat dazed Werewolf, remained.
He looked up to see that the Goblin Wolf Riders had been completely routed, the survivors scattering and fleeing. His Adventurer companions had deployed a large number of archers to support him as he broke through the enemy lines.
Cheers erupted from the Adventurer formation. Although Ryan Nephalem's combat style was brutally unreasonable and reckless, it genuinely boosted the Adventurers' sagging morale. In an instant, the battlefield situation, which had been extremely unfavorable, gradually turned into a back-and-forth struggle.
Even a few low-level Adventurers, working together, could temporarily hold off a Goblin Warrior. Everyone encouraged each other until another red figure slowly emerged from the pasture gate, rapidly accelerating and charging into the dense enemy formation of Goblin Warriors...
Mia was swiftly running across the jagged front lines of battle, her phantom silk stockings releasing many poisonous pollens.
The Adventurers had been pre-issued anti-toxin potions from the Temple of the Earth Mother Goddess, so there were no major issues. Some strange Adventurers even hoped to inhale more of Mia's 'gifts'...
The Goblin ranks began to show frequent coughing and red rashes. Their already low combat effectiveness was further weakened by her.
Her mastery of [My Style - Street Fighting] and Capoeira had greatly improved, thanks to the Sword Maiden, complementing Mia's Dancer talent. Slaughter and elegance had finally become a pair of modifiers that could be placed together.
Each time she kicked out with her almost perfect jade-like feet, influenced by her succubus race, she would take a Goblin's life. The magic recovery bonus from her phantom silk stockings made her moves fluid and continuous.
Her elegant, dance-like dodges helped her evade almost all fatal attacks.
With each kick, the vine tentacles beneath the skirt of her [Blood Rose Monk Robe] would simultaneously injure the surrounding Goblins. After Ryan Nephalem, another "Goblin meat grinder" was activated on the battlefield.
By the time she reached the Goblin Warrior formation, a large field of roses had bloomed on the corpses of the Goblin foot soldiers behind her. Powerful, eerie, beautiful, and mysterious had now become Mia's epithets.
Thanks to the Adventurers' efforts, about half of the Goblins had been permanently left around this pasture, becoming fertilizer for the pasture's grass and nourishment for the Blood Roses.
The Goblin King was wavering. But he still had cards to play; he still had a large number of Goblin Warriors. With a wave of his hand, the Goblin Warriors pressed forward across the entire front, nearly twenty Goblin Warriors charging into the chaotic battlefield with their various weapons... He himself turned and hastily disappeared into the night.
"Save me..."
A faint cry for help came from nearby. Three injured Adventurers were surrounded by five Goblin Warriors, in grave danger.
"May the Earth Mother Goddess protect you..." Mia raised her hand, and the sealed divine spell on the back of her glove lit up, summoning a holy light that struck the injured Adventurers. However, what descended was not only [Healing Spell] but also carried the power of [Painful Sacrament]. Blood Rose vines began to grow wildly along the ground, releasing a pink mist when they wrapped around the Goblin Warriors' calves.
The rescued female Adventurer's beautiful eyes suddenly widened. Those seemingly sacred light particles landed on her wounds, indeed stopping the bleeding and restoring her flesh, but waves of burning pleasure also assailed her...
And the Goblins who inhaled the pink mist began to stare blankly, their bodies developing rose-colored patterns, and green shoots sprouted from inconspicuous parts of their bodies.
