103: Chapter 103 Humans are not an inferior race

Inside the shop, Kara had just moved a crate of potions to the counter when her antennae suddenly twitched toward the backroom.

A-Zu was standing in the shadows of the backroom entrance, beckoning her with a finger.

She pushed the remaining potions to a nearby Wuhu assistant and quietly retreated into the backroom.

In the backroom, A-Zu leaned against the side of a shelf with his arms crossed and asked, "Why did you give that Blue Star kid the real potion?"

Kara replied, "Do you remember when we first came to this mall? It was that boy. Commander Chen Mu took a photo with him and even leaned down to say a few words to him."

"I thought perhaps he might be able to contact Commander Chen Mu; it's always good to build some goodwill."

A-Zu froze for a moment upon hearing Chen Mu's name, then nodded.

Meanwhile, Mary had already finished drinking all one hundred bottles, but her body still hadn't changed at all. She was about to explode with rage.

Mary looked up, her voice finally booming as she shouted at the Wuhu assistant, "Are you selling fake medicine? I've drunk a hundred and ten bottles and haven't awakened, while my friend drank one bottle and did. Tell me, what kind of probability is that?"

"Refund my money!!!"

Her words were like a match thrown into a gasoline barrel, and the complaints in the shop exploded.

The middle-aged man from before, who had bought eight bottles without success, squeezed to the front and held an empty bottle over his head: "I demand a refund too!"

A massive wave of agreement followed from behind.

Suddenly, a person abruptly appeared in front of Mary, as if someone had edited a piece of footage into this space that didn't belong, and the eyes of all the spectators had missed that single frame.

A-Zu stood before her, less than a meter away, looking down at her condescendingly. "What do you want to refund?"

Mary looked at A-Zu in front of her and felt as if she were facing an ancient behemoth. She couldn't help but take two steps back, swallowed hard, and whispered, "There's something wrong with your medicine. I demand a refund."

A-Zu looked at Mary, then at the people in line, and said, "Those who want a refund, please stand behind this lady. Let me see how many there are."

The crowd fell silent; no one moved. The middle-aged man who had just been holding an empty bottle and shouting 'alien scammers' quietly hid his bottle behind his back, not even daring to breathe loudly. Many even moved aside just to get further away from Mary.

Mary stood there alone; there was no one behind her.

A-Zu retracted his gaze and looked back at her face, saying contemptuously, "See, this is the most interesting thing about your planet."

"As long as you're given a chance to be silent, you don't even dare to breathe too loudly."

A-Zu mocked disdainfully, "I really don't know why Commander Chen Mu would take an interest in you low-level races. If this were my planet, you ants wouldn't even be qualified to build my palace."

As soon as these words were spoken, even the usually good-tempered Parker couldn't help but clench his fists, and Gwen also looked at A-Zu with a face full of anger.

Yet the crowd remained silent, as if they had collectively chosen to be deaf.

Looking at Mary, who was trembling with her head bowed, A-Zu snorted coldly, feeling only boredom, and turned to walk toward the backroom.

"Apologize!"

A-Zu stopped in his tracks, rubbed his ear, and turned back to Mary: "What did you say?"

Mary looked up and glared at A-Zu, roaring, "We humans are not a low-level race! You must apologize for your inappropriate remarks!!!"

Every breath in the shop stopped simultaneously as everyone looked at Mary in shock.

A-Zu looked at her and suddenly began to laugh, but this laughter made all the Wuhu Planet people in the shop shiver, because it meant A-Zu was in a state of fury.

"Interesting Blue Star person." He stopped laughing, the light in his eyes slowly deepening from iron-red. "Are you not afraid of death?"

Red light began to appear in his eyes, and everyone started to retreat desperately. Even Kara opened her mouth, but in the end, she didn't speak up to stop him.

Standing before A-Zu, Mary's calves also began to tremble violently, her teeth chattering. Every cell in her body was screaming for her to retreat under the threat of death.

But Mary didn't take a single step back. She forced herself to grit her teeth and stand her ground, feeling an inexplicable force within her body supporting her.

Because she didn't want to lose face for humanity in front of this alien who insulted them.

An image flashed through her mind—of her standing before a folding table in that activity room, announcing that she was the leader of the New Era Youth group.

As the leader, I haven't lost face in front of Parker and Gwen, have I?

"I'm sorry!"

Suddenly, a hand reached out from her side. Parker took half a step past Mary, placing himself between her and A-Zu.

He bowed and said, "It's all our fault!"

His entire voice was shaking violently, but he still forced himself to say, "We've disturbed your business. We are very, very sorry. We'll leave right now."

A-Zu frowned as he looked at Parker, remembering what Kara had said in the backroom: "Commander Chen Mu took a photo with him and leaned down to say a few words to him."

At that thought, the red light in his eyes gradually dissipated, and he waved his hand: "Get lost!"

Gwen grabbed Mary's arm from the other side. Mary's body stiffened the moment she was supported; she wanted to say something more, but her lips moved several times without a sound coming from her throat.

Parker didn't give her the chance to continue. He kept bowing toward A-Zu's back while retreating, using his other hand to push Mary's shoulder as the three of them forced a path through the crowd.

The shop door was bumped open by Mary's back, and the copper bell on the doorframe let out a short shriek.

The silence inside the shop lasted for a moment, then the cash register resumed its work. The person at the front of the line hesitated for a moment before handing their cash to the counter, and the line began to move again.

The cash register dinged as another person spent money and received a bottle of blueberry-flavored transparent liquid.

Everything returned to normal, as if nothing had just happened.

Outside the shop, Parker and Gwen supported Mary on either side as they walked past the busiest section of Fifth Avenue and turned into a narrow alley.

There was no one else in the alley, only two large green trash cans leaning against the wall, with a cigarette butt still smoking on one of the lids.

Beside the trash cans was a faded poster that read: Awaken Your Potential, Wuhu Special Ability Potion, One Thousand Dollars a Bottle.

As soon as they let go, Mary collapsed like a toy with its batteries removed, sliding down the wall and slumping beside the trash cans.

She pressed her palms against the concrete ground, trying to push herself up, but each time she rose less than two inches before her knees buckled and she fell back.

On the third attempt, she didn't even try to push herself up. She just leaned her back against the wall, the back of her head resting against a gum wrapper someone had stuck to the red bricks. She looked incredibly ridiculous.

"Waaaah!" Mary covered her face. "I must look like such a clown right now. Laugh if you want to."
