82: Chapter 82 Superpower Out of Control
United Nations Building, Maya's temporary office.
Maya held her phone, her expression looking as if she had swallowed a live frog: "Thompson,"
Maya took a deep breath, "I was advising you to be flexible, but you've become flexible a bit too quickly, haven't you? It's only been two hours!"
Two hours ago, this guy was still holding forth passionately at the pizza shop: "Saying he had a worthless life and didn't care about anything!"
Two hours later, the same mouth said, "I am willing to take a position at the Interstellar Police Department."
Maya even suspected that Thompson had been swapped by aliens.
On the other end of the line, Thompson's voice was full of energy, as if he had just won the lottery: "Hahaha, Maya, you're right! A person has to eat, after all! Working as a police officer for anyone is still working!"
"Rest assured," Maya rubbed her temples, "I haven't had the chance to report that 'you aren't going' yet. Just report for duty as normal in a week."
"Maya!"
At that moment, Chen Mu's voice came from inside the room; Maya knew that the Ball Chief was about to give orders again.
"Alright, I have to go, Chen Mu is calling me." Maya hung up the phone quickly, thinking: Thompson has really figured it out; perhaps he'll be even better suited to work for aliens than I am in the future.
Maya pushed the door open and went in, seeing Chen Mu sitting cross-legged in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, at the highest point in New York, admiring the night view below.
"Maya," Chen Mu said without turning his head, "Notify the United States government that the first batch of interstellar visitors will arrive tomorrow, and have them prepare to welcome them."
"What?!" Maya almost threw her phone, "So soon? The interstellar mall hasn't even been built yet! There isn't even a shelf set up right now!"
"Of course," Chen Mu turned his head and smiled, "The Blue Planet is an uncultivated wasteland, and many civilizations are scrambling to come here."
"Alright, I'll go notify them now." Maya silently took out her phone, thinking that the President would probably be posting twenty tweets overnight.
Soon, Chen Mu stood alone in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, listening to the twelve o'clock bell echoing over New York.
The sound of the bell reminded him of a month ago, when he was still a penniless vagrant, but now, he had become the new sun of the Blue Planet.
[Ding!]
[Alien Invasion theme has ended.]
[New theme for the month refreshed, current theme: Superpower Out of Control.]
Chen Mu's eyes lit up, and he hurriedly brought up the mall to check.
Inside the mall, except for the few items he had purchased permanently, everything else had been refreshed.
Fire control, water control, electromagnetism, super strength...
"Isn't this just a superpower supermarket?" Chen Mu couldn't help but mutter.
He scrolled to the very bottom.
[Superpower Development Potion]
[F-Rank]
[Associated theme: Superpower Out of Control]
[Basic effect: 100% development of an F-rank superpower compatible with oneself.]
[Price: 1000 fear value]
Chen Mu stroked his chin, and an idea occurred to him instantly.
He performed an image makeover on the 20 Guga soldiers, changing their appearance to be similar to humans, except that their skin was slightly green, and they had two snail-like antennae growing on their foreheads.
With the image adjustments mostly done, Chen Mu began to bestow superpowers upon them.
He first selected a leader, A-Zu, and bestowed upon him B-rank superpowers such as super strength, super speed, laser eyes, flight, and a body of steel.
This made his strength infinitely close to A-rank, costing Chen Mu a total of five million fear value.
Afterward, he bought two more B-rank superpowers—fire control and hallucination creation—for the man and woman beside him to serve as deputies.
The rest were randomly assigned some C-rank superpowers, costing a total of 3.7 million fear value.
Finally, Chen Mu spent another million to buy 1,000 Superpower Development Potions to serve as the goods they would sell upon arriving at the Blue Planet.
He also input the alien civilization settings he had been thinking about for the past few days into their memories and bestowed upon them independent personalities.
However, they still belonged to Chen Mu as his creations, and Chen Mu could take away everything they had at any time.
Chen Mu looked at the new civilization he had created; now it just needed a name.
Got it, let's call it the Wuhu Civilization!

The next morning, the runway at John F. Kennedy International Airport had been cleared. Outside the cordon, hundreds of military police were maintaining order, and the silhouettes of snipers were vaguely visible on the tall buildings in the distance.
The President stood at the end of the red carpet, with the Secretary of State, the Mayor of New York City, and a group of White House staff behind him.
Chen Mu and Maya stood in a position next to them, watching the azure sky.
The next moment, a blinding white light suddenly lit up the sky.
A small, silver-gray aircraft pierced through the atmosphere at a speed the naked eye could barely catch; there was no sonic boom, no exhaust plume, and it was as quiet as a falling leaf.
It hovered over the runway for two seconds, then descended gently; the moment the landing gear touched the ground, it didn't make a sound.
The cabin door slid open silently, and Danzo Shimura was the first to step out. He scanned the welcoming crowd and stood behind Chen Mu with an expressionless face.
Following him were twenty green-skinned aliens. They were similar in height to humans, with light green skin and two snail-like antennae growing on their foreheads, which were currently swaying slowly, as if detecting the scent in the air.
What was most striking was that they were wearing coarse linen clothes, with cross-collars and right-lapels, cloth belts tied around their waists, and cloth shoes on their feet, as if they were farmers from some ancient village, creating an absurd contrast with the high-tech aircraft behind them.
A-Zu, the leader, had the thickest antennae and was half a head taller than his companions. He strode down the gangway, his gaze carrying undisguised arrogance.
The President immediately stepped forward, extended his right hand, and wore a standard diplomatic smile on his face: "Welcome to the Blue Planet."
A-Zu glanced down at the extended hand but did not shake it. Instead, he looked at the crowd and shouted: "Where is the strongest person of your civilization? Why haven't they come to see me? Is this your way of treating guests?"
The President's hand froze in mid-air, and his smile stiffened for a moment. But he quickly regained his composure and explained: "I am the highest leader of this country."
Only then did A-Zu truly examine the President's face. His eyes glowed slightly red, as if performing some kind of detailed biological scan.
A few seconds later, he sneered and said in a contemptuous tone: "Just you? Your current body has severe skeletal calcification, muscle fiber atrophy, multiple blockages in your cardiovascular system, and hormone secretion levels that are less than 30% of your prime."
"A body like this wouldn't survive the winter in any tribe on our Planet Wuhu. That your civilization would let a half-broken shell sit in the highest position—is it because you really couldn't find a healthier candidate?"
The words landed on the empty tarmac like a stone thrown into stagnant water.
The President's complexion turned from ruddy to livid; the staff behind him looked at each other in dismay, the Secretary of Defense clenched his fists, and the Secretary of State looked down, pretending to adjust his cuffs.
No one dared to speak, and even the accompanying reporters stopped filming, their fingers hovering over the shutters, not knowing whether they should press them.
After all, once this footage was broadcast, it would not only be a disgrace to the President personally, but also a disgrace to the entire country or the entire human civilization.
The President's lips moved, as if he wanted to retort, but he found he had no way to argue.
What the other party said was a fact; he knew his own medical report.
Just as the atmosphere reached its breaking point, Chen Mu walked out.
