104: Chapter 104 Appeals to the Interstellar Court

Hearing Mary's words, no one laughed.

Mary lowered her hands and saw Peter Parker squatting in front of her.

"Team Leader Mary," Peter Parker's voice was still trembling with excitement, "You are the bravest person I have ever met in my life. Really, I'm not just comforting you. When you stood in front of him, I was standing right behind you."

"I was too scared to even move just by looking into his eyes, but you stood there all by yourself and made him apologize to humanity."

He said earnestly, "You are the real superhero. I am proud to have joined the New Era Youth."

Mary's eyes were slightly red. She subconsciously puffed out her chest, trying to make herself look taller, but her whole body was as soft as a noodle, and she couldn't move at all.

This was the aftereffect of an adrenaline rush. The only reason she managed to stand before A-Zu without collapsing was that the adrenaline had been holding her up.

Gwen also crouched beside her, reached out to pat the dust off Mary, and said worriedly, "You really scared me to death just now."

"I won't lie to you. My legs went soft when I was in the shop too, and I had to use all my strength just to walk when I was supporting you."

She lowered her head and wiped her eyes with her school uniform sleeve, "If something had actually happened to you, how would I explain it to your sister?!"

Hearing Gwen mention Maya, Mary grabbed a small pebble from her side and threw it at the Superpower Serum poster on the wall opposite.

She cursed angrily, "Didn't you hear? He actually called humans an inferior race."

"Who does he think he is! A creature with two antennae on its head and dressed like a rag come to life, saying we are an inferior race?!"

"Even Ball Chief has never said that!"

Gwen leaned against the wall, waited for her to finish venting, and then said softly, "Alright, it's good that you've let it out."

"It's not good!" Mary shouted suddenly, "This isn't over! I'm going to report them."

Peter Parker stood up and said cautiously, "But they are aliens. The United States government courts don't seem to be able to handle them. We can only go to the Interstellar Court established by Ball Chief."

Mary punched her own palm with a crisp smack, which scared Peter Parker so much he almost dropped his camera.

"That's right! The Interstellar Court!" She turned to Peter Parker and Gwen, her eyes flashing with anger, "Let's go! We're going to the United Nations Building!"

Peter Parker's face paled, and he subconsciously scratched the back of his head, "The Interstellar Court? That's the Interstellar Court! They handle major affairs concerning humanity there; will they care about a small matter like this?"

Mary finally stood up, patted his shoulder, and wore an expression that said "Don't worry, I've got this," "Don't worry, I have connections."

Meanwhile, Gwen was already standing by the roadside, raising her hand at a yellow taxi.

The taxi pulled over. Gwen opened the door and turned back to say to Peter Parker, who was still standing there in a daze, "Get in."

Peter Parker then helped Mary carefully climb into the back seat.

"Who is she talking about?" Peter Parker closed the door, his body squeezed to one side by Mary's shoulder.

Gwen turned from the passenger seat to introduce, "Her sister is Ball Chief's personal assistant, Maya Rodriguez."

Peter Parker swallowed, "Team Leader, you have such big connections? Ball Chief's secretary is your own sister! You're way too low-key at school."

Mary leaned her head against the car window. Hearing Peter Parker's words, she waved her hand, "There's nothing to brag about. She is herself, and I am me. Her position is something she worked hard for, not capital for me to show off."

"If others look up to me only because I am Maya's sister, that's not respecting me, that's insulting me."

She moved her head away from the glass and turned to look at Peter Parker, "Think about it, if a person can only gain respect by being 'someone's sister,' doesn't that mean she herself lacks substance?"

She relaxed her body slightly, "I don't want to be that kind of person."

Listening to this, Peter Parker slowly sat up straight. He immediately gave Mary a thumbs up and pushed it upward forcefully.

"It would be great if Ryan could hear you say that. That guy, relying on his dad being some small-time district councilor, walks around the school like he owns the place every day."

"Just last week, because I didn't give way to him, he threw my entire day's notes into the fountain."

Speaking of this, he gripped the camera strap tightly. It seemed that wasn't the first time that notebook had been thrown into the fountain.

Gwen turned back from the passenger seat to comfort him, "Then you don't have to be afraid of him anymore."

She tilted her chin towards Mary, "With Mary as your backer, from now on you..."

"Wrong."

Mary interrupted Gwen. Gwen turned her head and saw that Mary had straightened up from her slumped position against the window.

"There has never been any savior, Peter Parker." Mary looked at Peter Parker seriously, "If you want to avoid being bullied, everything depends on our own strength to fight."

She looked straight into Peter Parker's eyes, "If you think you can walk around school relying on my sister's reputation, then how are you any different from Ryan?"

She leaned back, but her back remained straight, "There is an old saying at Eastern University: 'As heaven maintains vigor through movement, a gentleman should unremittingly practice self-improvement!'"

"So don't think about who can be your backer, Peter Parker. What you should be thinking about is that one day, you should become someone else's backer."

Peter Parker slowly lowered his hand, no longer giving a thumbs up, but looked down at his wrist that had just shot out Spider Silk.

A moment later, he raised his head, met Mary's gaze, and nodded, "Don't worry, Team Leader. Now that I am an Esper too, even though I can only shoot some Spider Silk for now, I will work hard."

"One day, I will protect you all!"

Gwen turned around, reached her hand out of the passenger window, and signaled to the side of the road.

The taxi pulled over, its tires crushing a patch of fallen plane tree leaves.

The United Nations Headquarters building was right across the street. The glass curtain wall reflected a sheet of golden light in the afternoon sun, and the flags at the top of the building lined up, snapping in the wind.

On the flag at the far right, a chibi-style Gugu Gaga was squinting and smiling, looking naive and adorable, as if it were staring at these three hot-blooded youths who didn't know the immensity of heaven and earth.

After Gwen paid the fare, the three of them headed straight for the United Nations gate.

In front of the security checkpoint, the hall dome was so high that Peter Parker instinctively tilted his head up by fifteen degrees. Chandeliers hung from very high up, and the light spread a thin layer of gold across the waxed floor.

Mary strode to the front desk and placed her hands on the counter.

The female receptionist behind the desk was wearing a crisp suit, with a United Nations ID card hanging around her neck, and was drinking a cup of steaming black tea.

She looked at the aggressive Mary, "Hello, how can I help you?"

"I want to appeal to the Interstellar Court," Mary shouted, her voice echoing in the hall, "to sue those Planet Wuhu people for fraud and insulting humanity."
