126: Chapter 126 Interstellar Police Station Report

Inside the villa, before Parker could finish his sentence, Mary had already turned and stumbled over to the coffee table, picking up the half-bottle of vodka to pour into a glass.

The liquor splashed onto the coffee table, soaking the corner of an unfinished study abroad application on the table.

She lifted the glass, took a gulp, leaned back against the sofa, and looked up at the ceiling. "I've just realized a few things. Why should I burden myself with such a pointless sense of responsibility?"

She held the glass up to her eyes, looking through the amber liquid at the ornate crystal chandelier on the ceiling. "My sister is the Ball Chief's secretary. Even if the Blue Star Civilization is destroyed, I'll be among the last to die."

"What do I have to worry about? A-Zu wants to rule all of humanity, the Human Renaissance Alliance wants to nuke the area around New York, and the President wants to organize a counterattack. Let them fight it out."

"I'm just a seventeen-year-old high school girl. What could I possibly do?"

She set the glass down and looked down at the study abroad application on the coffee table. "I'm going to study at Dongda next month. The paperwork is already done. My sister is right; some things aren't for us to worry about."

Parker stepped forward, grabbed Mary by the shoulders, and shook her forcefully. The glass in Mary's hand wobbled, spilling liquor onto her shirt cuff.

"Team Leader! What's wrong with you! Snap out of it! You once said: 'There has never been any savior; if we want to avoid being bullied, we must rely on our own strength to become powerful'!"

"How long has it been? A Sima Bei and a few comments cursing you have turned you into this?"

Mary brushed Parker's hands off her shoulders. She stood up, placed the bottle on the coffee table, turned to face Parker, crossed her arms over her chest, and wore a cold sneer on her lips.

"This boring game of house is over, Mr. Parker. Standing before you now is a running dog of capitalism, the reactionary Mary."

"The New Era Youth was just a high school girl who watched too many movies and made up a bedtime story for herself under the covers. The story is over now."

She tossed the study abroad application to Parker. "I'm going to report to Dongda next month. I advise you and Gwen to stop meddling in these matters too."

"After all, you don't have a sister who is the Ball Chief's secretary. You will truly get depressed from cyberbullying and end up in trouble because of A-Zu's retaliation."

"You wouldn't want to see the things Uncle Thompson went through happen to you and Gwen, would you?"

"Team Leader..."

"Go back, Mr. Parker." Mary turned and walked up the stairs.

She walked to the bedroom door on the second floor and pushed it open. "Send a message if you have anything in the future; no need to come in person."

Parker stood in the living room, looking at the coffee table surrounded by liquor bottles and the study abroad application in his hand, without saying another word.

He turned, pushed open the French doors to the backyard, and walked into the grey, misty morning of New York.

In the distance, the roar of the parade on Fifth Avenue surged in waves. The crowd supporting A-Zu was shouting slogans, which mixed with the whistles of the riot police, like a pot that was boiling over.

At eight in the morning, Thompson stood in front of the Interstellar Police Department headquarters building. The morning light stung his eyes.

He remembered clearly that one week ago, this place had been an abandoned mental hospital in Brooklyn.

It was said that in the month before the Ball Chief's arrival, this place was often haunted, and even homeless people were unwilling to go near it.

Now, that eerie building had completely disappeared, replaced by a very grand and solemn building.

Floating above the main entrance was a huge three-dimensional logo: a blue planet being held up by two penguin palms. It was the logo Chen Mu had designed for the Interstellar Police Department.

Two figures stood in the sentry box at the entrance. One was a human, wearing a new type of dark blue uniform, standing with a standard posture and a vigilant gaze.

The other was a standard "Penguin Soldier," but unlike the C-class collectors on the streets, when its pair of inorganic red electronic eyes scanned Thompson, it made him feel a distinct sense of oppression, as if he had been checked from head to toe by some invisible force.

Thompson subconsciously tugged at the same dark blue uniform he was wearing and lifted his foot to walk toward the main entrance.

The automatic doors slid open silently as he approached, and a cool breeze rushed toward him.

Inside the hall, a dozen or so human police officers stood together in twos and threes, some looking at electronic panels in their hands, others whispering to each other.

They wore the same dark blue uniform as him, and their movements still carried the unique street vibe of the New York Police Department; it was clear they were all veteran officers who had been in the industry for many years.

Thompson bypassed the crowd, walked straight to the front desk, and handed his identification to a white female officer at the counter.

The female officer took the identification and tapped her fingers continuously on the keyboard. "Vincent Thompson, badge number NY-0017, former New York Police Department detective, dismissed from public office due to the 'Abuse of the Ball Chief case'..."

She paused after reading this and looked up at Thompson.

Thompson's face twitched, but he didn't speak.

"But subsequently, through special approval from the Ball Chief's office, your law enforcement qualifications were restored, and you were transferred to the Interstellar Police Department."

After reading, the female officer returned the metal card to him. "Welcome to the Interstellar Police Department, Officer Thompson."

"Thank you." Thompson took back the card and rubbed his fingers over its surface.

The female officer continued, "Since the Interstellar Police Department has just been established, there are currently only Guga Planet people and human police officers, so Lord Tuanzang has decided to have humans and Guga Planet people temporarily form pairs."

"The Guga Planet people will teach the humans how to use alien weapons, while the humans will teach the Guga Planet people how to handle cases in New York and help them deal with some daily life issues."

Her blue eyes stared directly into Thompson's. "This is a temporary arrangement and will be adjusted in the future based on evaluations. Do you have any questions, Officer Thompson?"

Thompson shook his head and gave a standard police salute. "No questions. I will comply with the arrangements."

The female officer nodded, took a room card from under the counter, and handed it to him.

"Your partner is waiting for you in Conference Room 302."

Thompson took the room card, thanked her, and turned to walk into the depths of the hall.

Chen Mu observed all of this through the Time Mirror. These so-called Guga Planet police officers had also had their own memories and personalities fabricated by Chen Mu.

After all, the establishment of the Interstellar Police Department was something Chen Mu had planned long ago, so Chen Mu had added two hundred more Guga soldiers.

And having gone through the events caused by A-Zu and his group, Chen Mu's fear value had finally broken through the 500 million mark. To celebrate this milestone, Chen Mu specifically designed a character for her to be Thompson's partner.

At the same time, he also spent 100 million in fear value to create an S-class persona for himself—none other than A-Zu's father!
