150: Chapter 150 I'm not taking the blame for this! This is a creature from tens of thousands of years ago!

"Beep—"

The Carbon-14 detector emitted a long buzz, like the final gavel strike in a courtroom.

Academician Chen Shuyin stared at the dizzyingly long string of numbers on the screen, her fingers trembling slightly as she pushed up her glasses. She checked it three times, even suspecting the machine was broken, before finally having to accept this absurd reality.

"How is it?"

Jiang Chen stretched his neck, like a defendant waiting for a verdict, his face full of anxiety. "Is she biologically mine? Can I be cleared of suspicion now?"

Academician Chen Shuyin took a deep breath, turned around, and looked at Jiang Chen with a complicated expression.

In her eyes, the murderous aura from just a moment ago was gone, replaced by a strange look, as if she were viewing an "antique," along with a hint of undisguisable embarrassment.

"Jiang Chen, congratulations."

She slapped the test report onto the table and pointed at the dating data on it:

"Your suspicion has been cleared."

"Based on the Carbon-14 decay cycle of the bone samples and the wear on the cellular telomeres, this little girl's biological age…"

Academician Chen Shuyin paused, her voice sounding a bit dry:

"Is at least over fifty thousand years."

"Fi…fifty thousand years?!"

Jiang Chen nearly slid off his chair. He widened his eyes, looking at the silver-haired loli who was hugging his thigh and innocently calling him "Daddy," feeling as though his worldview had shattered.

Good grief.

This wasn't some illegitimate daughter at all.

This was a living fossil! This was an ancestor worthy of being a museum's prized exhibit!

"Did you hear that? Did you hear that!"

Jiang Chen instantly straightened his back, pointing at Academician Chen Shuyin with full confidence, spittle flying:

"Fifty thousand years old! I'm only twenty-one this year! If I could father a fifty-thousand-year-old daughter, what would that make me? Pangu? Or a Peking Man?"

"I'm not taking the blame for this! Absolutely not!"

The more he spoke, the more aggrieved he felt, pointing at his own face:

"Look at this face full of collagen; do I look like an old monster that's lived for tens of thousands of years? Just a moment ago you wanted to test DNA and make me take responsibility; that's practically an insult to modern biology!"

Facing Jiang Chen's frantic outburst, Academician Chen Shuyin blushed for once.

Indeed, this whole affair had turned into a huge misunderstanding.

Who could have imagined that a little girl who looked seven or eight years old and could speak Mandarin would actually be an "old monster" from a prehistoric civilization?

"Ahem, well… I was rash."

Academician Chen Shuyin turned her head away somewhat unnaturally, attempting to cover her embarrassment with a professional academic attitude:

"However, this also proves another of my hypotheses."

"She is not a human. Or rather, she is not a human from Nature's evolution."

Academician Chen Shuyin's gaze changed instantly.

The jealousy and envy belonging to a woman vanished without a trace, replaced by a greed and fanaticism belonging to a mad scientist that made Jiang Chen's skin crawl.

She put her gloves back on and approached the little loli hiding behind Jiang Chen step by step, just like a collector who had spotted a peerless treasure.

"A biological weapon from fifty thousand years ago… and one that could remain dormant in a vacuum until now…"

"How does her cellular structure maintain its activity? What is her energy source? Why is her skin bulletproof? How can even her teeth bite through titanium alloy?"

Academician Chen Shuyin became increasingly excited as she spoke, holding the sampling swab she hadn't had time to put away, her eyes gleaming with a green light:

"This is simply a gift left to us by God!"

"If we can figure out her physiological structure, we could unlock the secret of eternal life! We could even create a true super soldier!"

"Little sister, be good, don't be afraid."

Academician Chen Shuyin displayed a smile she thought was kind and amiable, but in Hill's eyes was more terrifying than a demon, and she waved the swab:

"Big sister won't hurt you, I just want to… slice off a little bit for research, just a tiny bit of tissue, okay?"

Hill's fur stood entirely on end.

As a biological weapon created specifically for slaughter, although her intelligence wasn't high, her perception of danger was top-tier.

The female human in front of her was emitting an extremely dangerous aura.

It was the aura of someone who wanted to take her apart!

"Wooo—!"

Hill emitted a low, beast-like whimper.

She gripped Jiang Chen's pant leg tightly, shrinking her entire body behind him, revealing only half of her head.

In those originally clear, large purple eyes, her pupils were now vertical, turned into dangerous needle-like slits. She bared her set of fine, white teeth—which could easily crush metal—at Academician Chen Shuyin, letting out a threatening low growl from her throat. It was as if she were saying: If you come any closer, I'll bite you to death!

"Hey, hey, hey! Old Chen, restrain yourself!"

Jiang Chen hurriedly blocked Hill behind him like a mother hen protecting her chicks, looking at Academician Chen Shuyin with a wary expression:

"Pull back that look in your eyes! You're about to drool!"

"This is a living being! A conscious one! Not a lab rat in your laboratory!"

"Just a moment ago you were saying you'd be her stepmother and give her the best education, how come you want to slice her up in the blink of an eye? Women's words are deceptive ghosts!"

Academician Chen Shuyin was stunned by the retort and withdrew her hand somewhat sheepishly.

"I'm just doing this for science…"

She pushed up her glasses; although she didn't dare to force it, her eyes were still scanning Hill like a radar, clearly not having given up.

Just at this tense and bizarre moment,

"Gurgle—"

A thunderous sound suddenly came from behind Jiang Chen.

The sound was so loud it even drowned out the hum of the nearby instruments.

Jiang Chen was stunned for a moment and looked down.

He saw Hill clutching her flat little belly, her previously fierce expression instantly collapsing into a pitiful look.

She looked up at Jiang Chen, tears welling up in her eyes:

"Daddy…"

"Hungry…"

"Really hungry…"

The voice was soft, glutinous, and weak, enough to break anyone's heart.

Jiang Chen's heart softened, and he hurriedly pulled a compressed biscuit from his pocket—this was military rations he had specially brought up, high-calorie and filling.

"Here, here, here, eat up."

He tore open the packaging and held it to Hill's mouth, "This is good stuff, chocolate flavored."

However.

Hill just leaned in and sniffed it, then turned her head away in disgust.

"Not eating."

She pouted, looking aggrieved, "This… no kick."

"No kick?"

Jiang Chen was dumbfounded, "This is high-energy compressed rations! One piece is worth a whole meal! And you don't like it?"

"Then what do you want to eat? Hot pot? That's raw!"

Hill didn't speak.

Her nose twitched in the air twice, and those purple eyes suddenly lit up, as if she had discovered some peerless delicacy.

She didn't look at the pile of food.

Instead, she looked past Jiang Chen's shoulder, locking straight onto… the precision instrument behind Academician Chen Shuyin, worth tens of millions, which had just been transported up to analyze spectral data.

To be precise.

She was eyeing the instrument's casing—an aerospace-grade, high-purity aluminum alloy plate.

"Hungry…"

Hill licked her lips, a green light appearing in her eyes.

It was the kind of look… one would have when seeing braised pork belly.

Jiang Chen followed her gaze, and a feeling of extreme foreboding suddenly rose in his heart.

"Wait a minute…"

"Daughter, don't tell me you're thinking of…"

Before he could finish his sentence,

"Whoosh!"

A white shadow flashed.

Hill had already pounced, opened her mouth, and bit down hard on that expensive instrument.

"Crunch!"
