227: Chapter 228 The Whole Family Opposes: You're Harming the Child!

Jiang Chen slapped the A4 paper with the names written on it onto the coffee table, a smug expression of "I'm the greatest in the world" plastered on his face.

"Dad, Mom, look, aren't these names domineering?"

"The boy will be called Jiang Aotian, and the girl will be Jiang Bawang! Just hearing these names means they've already won at the starting line; no one will dare bully them in kindergarten!"

In the outer room of the spacious VIP ward, the air suddenly turned eerily quiet.

Jiang Jianguo, having just taken a sip of goji berry tea, immediately spat it all out with a "pfft" sound onto the potted plant opposite him.

His mother-in-law, Su Yumei, felt her hand shake violently, nearly peeling off half the apple, flesh and all.

Several pairs of eyes stared fixedly at Jiang Chen as if he were a lunatic.

"Jiang Aotian? Jiang Bawang?"

Jiang Jianguo slapped his thigh hard, causing the cups on the coffee table to clatter.

"You little brat, have you read too many web novels and got water in your brain? Are you naming children or giving nicknames to mountain bandits!"

"Exactly, Chenchen, these names are just too ridiculous."

Su Yumei cast a tender look at her daughter and grandchild sleeping in the inner room, then lowered her voice to rebuke him angrily.

"Our family is a scholarly one; if you use these two names, the teachers will burst out laughing during roll call when the kids go to school!"

Jiang Chen scratched his head, feeling a bit wronged.

"How is this ridiculous? Isn't this 'dominant CEO' style popular right now? It's so recognizable."

"Recognizable, my foot!"

Jiang Jianguo was so angry he looked around for a broom, but finding none, he simply took off his leather shoe and threw it at Jiang Chen.

"I'm going to sacrifice my own kin for the sake of justice today! You're sabotaging the kids! Purely sabotaging them!"

"Hey, hey, hey! Dad, calm down! A gentleman uses his words, not his hands!"

Jiang Chen agilely dodged the flying shoe and quickly raised his hands in surrender.

"I just wanted to give the kids some catchy names. If you're not satisfied, we can discuss it further."

"Discuss, my ass! Your gene for being hopeless at naming is definitely mutated!"

Jiang Jianguo angrily put his shoe back on, pointed at Jiang Chen's nose, and issued an ultimatum.

"I'm warning you, if you dare register these two awful names, I'll disown you!"

His mother-in-law nodded repeatedly from the side, her attitude as firm as a wall of bronze and iron.

"That's right! There's absolutely no room for negotiation on this! Our Shuyin risked half her life to give birth to these precious babies; they absolutely cannot be ruined by these terrible names of yours!"

Facing the combined assault from the whole family, Jiang Chen completely gave in.

He sighed and slumped onto the sofa like a defeated rooster.

"Fine, fine, you're the elders, you have the final say. Then what do you suggest?"

Jiang Jianguo cleared his throat and pulled a crumpled piece of red paper from his pocket.

"I specifically went to find Li Banxian in the south of the city yesterday to calculate it; the children are lacking wood in their Five Elements. The boy should be named Jiang Jianlin, and the girl should be Jiang Cuihua."

This time, it was Jiang Chen's turn to spit out water.

"Cough, cough! Dad, these names are even worse than mine! What era is this to still be using Jianlin and Cuihua? Do you think we're filming 'Rural Love Story'?"

"What do you know! This is called being grounded! It makes them easy to raise!"

Seeing that the father and son were about to bicker again, Su Yumei quickly stepped in to smooth things over.

"Alright, alright, you two are six of one and half a dozen of the other, neither of you should look down on the other."

She pulled a thick "Cihai" dictionary from her bag and slammed it onto the coffee table.

"For something as important as naming, you have to consult a dictionary. We'll look through it right here today; no one eats until we find a good name!"

Looking at the dictionary that was thicker than a brick, Jiang Chen only felt a headache coming on.

Reading books was the thing he feared most in his life, and now he actually had to cram at the last minute.

"Mom, I don't even recognize all the characters in this dictionary. Aren't you making things difficult for me?"

"Less nonsense! If you don't recognize them, look up the pinyin!" Su Yumei did not back down.

Seeing the murderous look in his father and mother-in-law's eyes, he had no choice but to obediently pick up the dictionary.

"Looking through the dictionary is too slow. I have a better idea."

Jiang Chen rolled his eyes, immediately pulled out his phone, and opened the browser.

"The ancients said: 'Classic of Poetry' for girls, 'Songs of Chu' for boys. Let's look directly in the 'Classic of Poetry'; it's absolutely high-end, elegant, and classy!"

His fingers swiped rapidly across the screen, while he muttered to himself.

"Got it! In the 'Classic of Poetry · Greater Odes', there's a line: 'King Wen ascends and descends, at the side of God'."

"How about we name the boy Jiang Zhijiang? It sounds so ethereal and celestial!"

Jiang Jianguo frowned and pondered for a moment, his face full of disdain.

"Zhijiang? You're the idiot! Do you want all his classmates to mock my grandson for being a fool?"

Jiang Chen's mouth twitched, and he quickly changed to another one.

"Then how about this? From the 'Classic of Poetry · Lesser Odes': 'When I left, the willows were swaying'."

"Let's name the girl Jiang Yiyi, this should be fine, right? Gentle and lovely, so poetic!"

Su Yumei shook her head, looking completely disapproving.

"The name Yiyi is too common. The streets are full of people named Yiyi; the rate of duplicate names is too high. Our Shuyin's daughter must be unique."

Jiang Chen was going crazy. He threw his phone onto the sofa, feeling completely defeated.

"This won't do, that won't do. Why is naming a child harder than negotiating a contract worth hundreds of millions!"

He pulled at his hair in frustration, feeling as if his brain cells had completely died.

Just as the argument in the outer room was reaching a fever pitch, a soft sound suddenly came from the door of the inner room.

Shuyin, wearing a loose hospital gown, looked a bit pale, but her spirits had recovered quite a bit.

She leaned against the doorframe, watching the chaotic scene outside, and couldn't help but chuckle.

"What are you arguing about? I could hear your voices all the way inside."

Seeing his wife awake, Jiang Chen immediately pounced over like a wronged golden retriever.

"Wife, you're finally awake! Please handle Mom and Dad; they've teamed up to bully me!"

Jiang Chen helped Shuyin sit down on the sofa and casually poured her a glass of warm water.

"I kindly came up with two peerless names for the kids, but they insist on saying I'm sabotaging them!"

Shuyin took a sip of water and looked at him with some curiosity.

"What names did you come up with?"

"Jiang Aotian and Jiang Bawang! So domineering!" Jiang Chen wore an expression begging for praise.

Shuyin almost choked on the water in her throat.

She gave Jiang Chen a cross-eyed glare and reached out to pinch his waist hard.

"Do you think these names are really cool?"

"Mom and Dad are right, you are purely sabotaging the kids! Who would name a girl Bawang?"

"When our daughter grows up, if she finds out you were the one who picked that name, she'll definitely pull the plug on your oxygen!"

Jiang Chen winced in pain but didn't dare to resist, only able to rub his waist pitifully.

"Then what do you suggest? I spent half the day flipping through the 'Classic of Poetry', and they weren't satisfied with any of them."

Shuyin leaned on Jiang Chen's shoulder, her eyes becoming incredibly gentle.

She looked towards the direction of the crib in the inner room, a tranquil smile curling at the corners of her mouth.

"Actually, I've been lying in bed these past few days, and I've had an idea in my heart."

"We've been through so many storms to get to where we are today; I only hope that the children can be safe and happy in the future."

"They don't need to have any earth-shattering achievements; as long as they can be happy like normal people, that's enough."

Jiang Chen held her slightly cool hand, his eyes also becoming soft.

"Wife is right, safety and happiness are the most important."

Shuyin looked up, met Jiang Chen's eyes, and said softly.

"How about we name the boy Jiang Zhiye and the girl Jiang Wanzhou? What do you think?"

"Zhiye? Wanzhou?"

Jiang Chen savored the two names, his eyes gradually brightening.

"Zhiye, learned and reasonable, with a heart as vast as the wilderness. Wanzhou, fishing boats singing in the evening, peaceful years."

"Wife, your cultural depth is simply ten streets ahead of mine! These names are perfect!"

Jiang Jianguo and Su Yumei listened from the side, nodding repeatedly, their faces full of appreciation.

"Shuyin is the educated one; these names sound so comfortable, ten thousand times better than that Aotian and Bawang stuff!"

"Exactly, Zhiye and Wanzhou, how poetic these names are; the kids will definitely like them in the future."

Seeing the whole family praising the two names endlessly, the little bit of gloom in Jiang Chen's heart instantly vanished.

He pulled Shuyin into his arms and planted a heavy kiss on her forehead.

"Wife, you really are my savior! If it weren't for you, I would have been eaten alive by Mom and Dad today."

Shuyin blushed, pushed him away, and gave him a coquettish glare.

"We're in front of Mom and Dad, be serious."

Jiang Chen chuckled, turned to look at Jiang Jianguo and Su Yumei, and waved his hand grandly.

"Dad, Mom, you have no objections now, right?"

"No objections, no objections, the names Shuyin picked are just great!" The old couple answered in unison.

Jiang Chen let out a long sigh of relief, feeling even more relaxed than after closing a ten-billion-dollar deal.

He picked up the A4 paper from the table with "Jiang Aotian" and "Jiang Bawang" written on it.

In front of the whole family, he crumpled it into a ball without hesitation.

It traced a beautiful parabola in the air and landed precisely in the trash can.

Those immature fantasies were simply no match for his wife's gentleness.

As long as his wife is happy, anything goes.

Jiang Chen stood up, walked to the window, and looked at the bright sunshine outside.

The sunlight spilled onto his face, gilding him with a golden halo.

He turned around, looking at his family sitting on the sofa, chatting and laughing, his heart filled with an unprecedented sense of satisfaction.

This was the life he wanted.

To have a wife who loves him, cute children, and parents who nag but care about him.

All of this was more precious than any wealth or power.

Jiang Chen took a deep breath, and an incredibly radiant smile bloomed on his face.

He walked over to Shuyin, held her hand tightly, his eyes full of doting and compromise.

"Alright, then we'll listen to Shuyin."
