89: Chapter 89: Loot Display: A Bunch of Alien Slaves?

The light of the holographic projection flickered faintly in the study, projecting the grim, murderous atmosphere of the ruined battlefield in its entirety before Jiang Chen.

Jiang Chen leaned in closer, even reaching out his hand as if to poke the "freak" kneeling at the very front of the image from a distance.

Too ugly.

Really too ugly.

That grayish-white skin looked just like a moldy concrete block that had been left out for too long, rough and covered in cracks. It had no nose, only two pitch-black holes that opened and closed with each breath, puffing out murky white gas.

The most absurd part was those two arms.

They were excessively long, hanging down low enough to touch its heels, covered in muscles knotted like tree roots. Just one look was enough to feel the terrifying, monstrous strength contained within that could twist steel bars into pretzels.

"This thing... is it really a carbon-based organism?"

Jiang Chen frowned, feeling a bit nauseous yet curious.

Just then, the system, which had always lacked much presence, suddenly and very considerately popped up a pale blue identification box above his head.

[Species identification complete.]

[Name: Low-level Engineer Organism (Commonly known as: Starry Coolie).]

[Origin: A biochemical tool specially created by a certain advanced civilization using gene-editing technology for interstellar colonial development.]

[Attributes: Strength S, Endurance S, IQ E- (Approximately equivalent to an obedient Border Collie).]

[Characteristics: Tireless, dull pain perception. Extremely strong digestive system, can consume any organic matter (including expired food, tree bark, and even some minerals) and convert it into kinetic energy.]

[Evaluation: Aside from eating a bit much, this is the most perfect "beast of burden" in the universe.]

After reading this line of description, Jiang Chen's eyes instantly widened.

That ugly face which previously made him feel nauseous, now suddenly appeared pleasing to the eye in his sight.

Strength S? Endurance S?

Can survive by eating trash?

Also tireless and has dull pain perception?

How is this a monster?

This is clearly the top-tier labor force that capitalists dream of, without any impurities!

Think about the massive engineering project at the West Suburb Base that needs to hollow out the mountain.

Then think about those human engineering teams who, despite receiving high wages, still need to eat and sleep, work in shifts, and constantly get complained about due to noise.

Jiang Chen felt as if he had opened a door to a new world.

However.

Jiang Wanqiu on the other side of the screen clearly did not have this "capitalist" realization.

In her eyes, these ugly freaks were just a group of waste-producing machines that only knew how to waste food.

"Father God, have you finished looking?"

Jiang Wanqiu covered her nose in disgust and took a step back, as if the sour stench of these guys was wafting through the air:

"These things eat too much!"

"Just now while cleaning up the battlefield, I saw with my own eyes that they gnawed through all the moldy synthetic food in the Brotherhood of Steel warehouse! They didn't even spit out the packaging!"

She pointed at the more than one thousand figures kneeling on the ground, her tone full of murderous intent:

"Keeping them will only drag down the logistics of Dawn City."

"And their brains don't work well; they don't even know how to fire a gun. If they went to the battlefield, they would just be cannon fodder."

Jiang Wanqiu raised her hand, made a sharp downward cutting gesture, and ordered Grand Commander Lei Zhen behind her:

"The President!"

"Here!" Grand Commander Lei Zhen had already set up his machine gun, looking eager to try.

"Take them to the edge of the pit and dispose of them all!"

Jiang Wanqiu said coldly, "To save ammunition, just bury them directly. It just so happens that this ruin needs reconstruction; use them as fertilizer, and next year's mutant potatoes might grow a bit bigger."

"Yes!"

Grand Commander Lei Zhen roared, pulled the bolt, and walked menacingly towards the group of shivering "Starry Coolies".

Those coolies seemed to have a premonition that their death was imminent.

They did not resist, nor did they run away, only emitting low, mournful whimpers like beasts.

A few timid ones were even so scared that they buried their heads in the dirt, their whole bodies trembling like a sieve.

"Stop!!!"

A shrill, angry roar suddenly exploded from above the holographic projection.

Jiang Chen was so anxious that he jumped straight up from his chair, wishing he could crawl through the network cable to stop the finger Grand Commander Lei Zhen had on the trigger.

"Stop! Everyone, stop!"

"Whoever dares to fire, I will deduct their ham sausage!"

This shout had an immediate effect.

Grand Commander Lei Zhen, who was originally brimming with murderous intent, shuddered upon hearing the words "deduct ham sausage". His finger instantly froze, and the muzzle of his gun jerked up three inches.

Are you kidding!

That is a ham sausage! It is a sacred object of the God Realm!

Killing a thousand prisoners isn't worth a single sausage!

Jiang Wanqiu was also startled. She hurriedly waved her hand to signal Grand Commander Lei Zhen to stand down, then looked at Jiang Chen with a confused and terrified expression:

"Father God, calm your anger!"

"Wanqiu... did Wanqiu do something wrong?"

She pointed at the group of ugly freaks with some grievance, "But... these things are really useless. Keeping them will only consume the precious food you bestowed..."

"Who said they are useless?!"

Jiang Chen breathed heavily, sat back down in his chair, and looked at that group of "top-tier beasts of burden" that had almost turned into fertilizer, feeling a lingering fear.

What a waste!

This is simply squandering heaven's gifts!

"Wanqiu, your perspective is too small."

Jiang Chen took a deep breath, trying hard to make his tone sound inscrutable, like a god laying out a chessboard:

"In your eyes, they are gluttons."

"But in the God Realm, in this world of ours... ahem, which is currently undergoing massive construction."

"They are more precious than gold—"

Jiang Chen paused, wanting to find a high-sounding word, but in the end, he decided to tell the truth:

"Brick-Moving Holy Bodies!"

"Moving bricks?"

Jiang Wanqiu blinked her beautiful red eyes, clearly not understanding the deep meaning behind this term, "Does Father God's God Realm... also need to move bricks? Isn't it possible to conjure houses directly with magic?"

"Ahem, magic also has a cooldown."

Jiang Chen bluffed with a straight face, "Besides, the God Realm has a big project recently."

He pointed in the direction outside the window, and although Jiang Wanqiu couldn't see, the light in his eyes was terrifyingly bright:

"I want to build a... Great Wall."

"No, that's not it, it's to build a huge underground palace that can hide that battleship!"

"How can we let the citizens of our God Realm do this kind of rough, tiring work? That would be a blasphemy against the God's people!"

"So..."

Jiang Chen pointed at the more than one thousand grayish-white figures, the corners of his mouth curling into a "Zhou Bapi"-style benevolent smile:

"These guys are simply a gift bestowed upon me by heaven."

"Enduring hardship, not picky eaters, and no unions to cause trouble."

"Wanqiu, listen to me."

"Don't kill them."

"Pack them up, along with that battleship..."

"Send them all over to me!"
