140: Chapter 140 begins the military parade.

After a month of Zhao Fusu's preparations, the much-anticipated National Day finally arrived.

Before the sun had even risen, a large number of soldiers had already begun their preparations.

The citizens who came to watch the excitement were guided by soldiers maintaining order to designated locations in Xianyang to view the parade.

The venue for reviewing the formations was arranged in front of Xianyang Palace.

The charge of ten thousand black pigs against the three thousand Iron Pagoda heavy cavalry was set to take place at the Great Qin Royal Hunting Ground.

The final highlight, the artillery demonstration, was arranged at a newly built city outside Xianyang.

To allow more citizens of Xianyang to see the majestic bearing of the formations, after passing in front of Xianyang Palace, the various formations would also march through the main streets of Xianyang.

The people of Xianyang could watch the military formations from both sides of the streets.

Whether it was General Wang Jian, Li Si, Feng Quji, or the First Emperor, they were all extremely curious about the parade Zhao Fusu had been tinkering with for so long.

Zhao Fusu arranged the best viewing spots in front of Xianyang Palace for the civil and military officials, as well as the group of nobles who wanted to return to the Six Lands.

Under He Zhi's arrangement, the First Emperor also had a viewing spot with an excellent line of sight.

Xiang Liang, Fan Zeng, and the others were also interested in Zhao Fusu's parade.

They each found suitable viewing spots.

Zhao Fusu woke up early to finalize the preparation work of various departments.

When it reached ten o'clock on the morning of National Day, the military parade officially began.

"Markers, take your positions!"

Under the curious gazes of the Xianyang citizens, they saw Markers marching with resonant steps, forming a single line as they lined up in the square before Xianyang Palace.

The military boots on their feet slammed heavily against the ground, producing a thunderous sound.

The people of Xianyang had never seen such a scene, and they couldn't help but break into a flurry of discussion.

Although they didn't know what these Markers were doing,

seeing their neat movements and powerful appearance, it was clear at a glance that this was something remarkable.

The First Emperor and He Zhi watched with wide eyes, their gazes filled with curiosity.

At this moment, a middle-aged Lieutenant walked up to an amplification device made of several steel pipes.

In the Great Qin Empire, the Lieutenant was primarily responsible for managing the defense of the capital region, Xianyang. This role was equivalent to a modern garrison commander, leading the garrison troops and overseeing Xianyang's military defense, public order, and responses to potential military threats, ensuring the safety and stability of the capital.

"His Majesty the Head of State."

This middle-aged Lieutenant shouted toward Zhao Fusu on the Rostrum with a voice bolstered by his internal energy.

"The lineup is complete, please review!"

In the formation assembly area, the Honor Guard Formation, Infantry Formation, Iron Pagoda formation, revolver formation, and Artillery Phalanx were all ready.

After passing the Rostrum set up in front of Xianyang Palace, they would continue forward through the main streets of Xianyang, allowing more citizens to see them.

"Commander-in-Chief of the Parade, Lieutenant Wang Ben!"

This Lieutenant was none other than Zhao Fusu's father-in-law, Wang Ben, the son of General Wang Jian.

Zhao Fusu stood on a chariot drawn by six warhorses, extending his right hand forward to greet the lined-up soldiers, "Greetings, soldiers!"

Responding to Zhao Fusu, the soldiers shouted in unison, "Greetings, Your Majesty the Paramount Leader!"

"Soldiers, you have worked hard!"

Zhao Fusu shouted again.

"Glory to Great Qin!"

The soldiers responded loudly.

After reviewing the lineup, Wang Ben shouted loudly, "March-past, begin!"

The military band, which had been prepared for a long time, began to play.

"This rebellious son has quite a few tricks up his sleeve. I don't know what instruments those musicians are playing, but they sound quite good,"

the First Emperor couldn't help but comment to He Zhi.

"Indeed!"

He Zhi had never heard such uplifting military music either, and he felt his blood surging with excitement.

Even people like the First Emperor and He Zhi, who had seen much of the world, were captivated by the March of the Steel Torrent, let alone the common people of Xianyang.

They were all listening with looks of total enchantment.

Just as they were immersed in the wonderful music, the Honor Guard Formation began to march.

The soldiers at the very front held high the Great Flag of the Black Bird.

The ancestor of the Qin people was Hua, the daughter of the Youjiao Clan. She swallowed a swallow's egg and gave birth to Bo Yi. Bo Yi was the male ancestor of the Qin people, which is why Qin took the Black Bird as its totem.

The Qin totem consists of three parts: the 'Black Bird dropping the egg,' 'offered by both hands,' and 'seedlings.' It is a composite totem of the 'swallow dropping the egg' and auspicious grain.

"Quick march!"

The soldiers of the Honor Guard Formation came forward, goose-stepping.

Their formation of three hundred and fifty-two people moved as if they were a single person.

They had the same height, the same leg length, and their goose-steps kicked out to the exact same distance.

They marched forward with incomparable neatness.

Their boots struck the ground in perfect unison, producing a thunderous sound.

"This!"

Whether it was the First Emperor or the officials in the viewing stands, all were shocked and appalled.

This Honor Guard Formation, marching with such a domineering gait, was far too imposing.

Furthermore, their alignment was excessively neat!

The visual impact was incredibly strong!

"This rebellious son really knows how to put on a show!"

The First Emperor couldn't help but comment once again.

Looking at this aura and this neat goose-stepping, it was clear at a glance that this was a highly disciplined army, not something a loose mob could compare to.

General Wang Jian narrowed his eyes slightly.

Don't be fooled by the goose-stepping appearing simple; as an old general with great military talent, he could see that performing it well was not easy at all.

For those who lacked coordination, making them goose-step would be a nightmare. And for those tasked with teaching such uncoordinated people to goose-step, it would be no different from taking their lives.

Through goose-stepping, the discipline and obedience of the troops could also be tempered.

Once on the battlefield, the discipline and obedience of a unit were of paramount importance.

If a unit wanted to ensure that orders were strictly followed, it needed a high degree of discipline and obedience.

A military unit does not fight alone; it emphasizes collectivity. Only through mutual cooperation in battle can the full combat effectiveness of the unit be unleashed.

The eyes of both Fan Zeng and Xiang Liang narrowed slightly.

Xiang Liang was a Military Chief of the School of Military Strategy, and Fan Zeng was monstrously brilliant; how could they not know that through a simple goose-step, one could see the caliber of an army?

"The Qin Army truly is a force worthy of having swept the world!"

Fan Zeng lamented.

"Indeed!"

Xiang Liang echoed, "Does Fusu want us to see the discipline and obedience of the Great Qin troops? He has truly gone to great lengths!"

Fan Zeng said, "Since he wants to show us, then let us watch closely."

"As the saying goes, know yourself and know your enemy, and you will be victorious in a hundred battles."

"Brother Fan, we are of the same mind!"

Xiang Liang nodded in response.

Amidst their conversation, the Honor Guard Formation reached the Rostrum located directly in front of Xianyang Palace.

"Eyes right!"

The two leading soldiers shouted loudly.

"One, two!"

The three hundred and fifty-two soldiers behind them shouted in unison.

Their loud voices converged, echoing through the heavens.

Their heads turned in unison toward the Rostrum, awaiting Zhao Fusu's review.
