550: Chapter 550 Fan Zeng's Advice

"What!"

When Xiang Yu spoke those words, the expressions on Xiang Liang and Fan Zeng's faces instantly became incredibly dramatic. They widened their eyes, staring at Xiang Yu in disbelief as if a complete stranger were standing before them.

In their minds, Gedrosia was a key city in the southern part of the Mauryan Empire, with towering, thick walls and strict defenses; even deploying eight thousand Jiangdong Youths would by no means be an easy task to capture it.

Yet, Xiang Yu had actually claimed so arrogantly that he only needed one hundred cavalrymen!

This was far too arrogant!

"Yuer, are you serious!"

Xiang Liang could not help but step forward, his gaze filled with worry and shock, staring fixedly at Xiang Yu.

"Yuer, stop joking."

Fan Zeng gently shook his head, helplessness and disbelief revealing themselves in his eyes; he truly could not imagine that Xiang Yu could capture the impregnable city of Gedrosia with only one hundred cavalrymen.

In his view, this was simply a fantasy—too absurd.

However, Xiang Yu wore a serious and earnest expression, with not even a hint of joking.

He dropped to one knee with a "thud," his eyes burning with a fiery intensity, and said firmly: "I beg Uncle and Father Fan to give me one hundred cavalrymen, and I will surely take the city of Gedrosia!"

His voice rang out like a great bell, echoing through the camp tent and revealing a determination to burn his bridges behind him.

"Yuer, this is too risky!"

Xiang Liang furrowed his brows and shook his head repeatedly, his face filled with anxiety.

With Xiang Yu taking so few people, not only would there be no logistical support or reinforcements, but he was also unfamiliar with the local roads and terrain. To penetrate so deep into enemy territory was fraught with danger, and he truly does not believe Xiang Yu could succeed.

Just then, the deep-in-thought Fan Zeng slowly spoke up: "We can first find a place that is easy to defend and difficult to attack, and establish a camp to serve as our stronghold and base."

As he spoke, he gestured on the map with his finger.

"Next, we can dispatch five thousand cavalrymen south, focusing on mobility. Relying on the speed advantage of the cavalry, we can quickly reach the gates of Gedrosia. Let Yuer lead the one hundred cavalrymen he selected as the vanguard to scout ahead, while our main army holds the rear."

Fan Zeng paused, looked at Xiang Yu with a deep gaze, and continued: "If Yuer can truly use his bravery and strategy to take the city gate, then we can take advantage of the momentum to move our main army up and capture the city of Gedrosia in one fell swoop."

"If Yuer is unable to take the city gate, that is fine too; we can withdraw in time to preserve our strength and discuss a long-term plan."

After finishing, Fan Zeng looked at Xiang Liang, waiting for his response.

Hearing Fan Zeng's detailed and comprehensive plan, Xiang Liang nodded thoughtfully.

He knew well that Fan Zeng's method was indeed more reliable.

It could both give the ambitious, battle-ready Xiang Yu a chance to perform and satisfy his desire to prove himself, while also ensuring that their main army remained in an invincible position, not falling into a desperate situation due to Xiang Yu's rash actions.

"That will do."

Xiang Liang nodded slightly, his gaze firm as he said: "We shall proceed as Brother Fan has suggested."

Subsequently, he turned his gaze to Xiang Yu and asked with concern: "Yuer, what do you think?"

Xiang Yu lifted his chin, a glow of confidence flashing in his eyes, and answered loudly without hesitation: "Good."

This single, short, and powerful word displayed his immense self-confidence.
