328: Chapter 328 Six-Fingered Black Knight: Far Ahead!

The entire vessel was streamlined, with a bow shaped like a triangular arrowhead that could easily cut through the water.

In terms of propulsion, it used a foot-pedal system to drive water wheels on both sides of the boat, providing the forward thrust.

"Ingenious!"

The Six-Fingered Black Knight looked at Zhang Liang's design. While his primary profession was that of an assassin, his side businesses included forging weapons, making crossbows, and woodworking; he also knew a thing or two about shipbuilding.

He saw the essence of Zhang Liang's design at a single glance.

The strength in one's legs was far greater than that in one's arms.

The rotation speed of a water wheel pedaled by foot was much faster than the speed of rowing with oars.

The faster the propulsion in the water, the faster the vessel would move forward.

A bright light flickered in the eyes of the Six-Fingered Black Knight.

The boat produced from this design would surely be extremely fast, making it perfect for crossings.

Zhang Liang said, "We need a fast boat so that we can take advantage of the moonlight to secretly cross the river section guarded by the Great Qin Lou Chuan Soldiers without alerting them."

These Louchuan Soldiers of Great Qin were much like modern-day customs officers.

All passing merchant ships were controlled by the Great Qin Lou Chuan Soldiers; one had to go through entry procedures and pay taxes before being allowed in.

If Zhang Liang wanted to smuggle himself across, he had to quickly pass through the river section they guarded while the Great Qin Lou Chuan Soldiers were negligent.

"Mhm."

The Six-Fingered Black Knight also understood Zhang Liang's plan.

Great Qin had destroyed the Mohists, and the Six-Fingered Black Knight felt nothing but deep hatred for Great Qin.

He supported any action that could serve as retaliation against Great Qin with both feet.

The Six-Fingered Black Knight led the Mohist Disciples to begin constructing vessels similar to assault boats according to Zhang Liang's blueprints.

Upon hearing that the Six-Fingered Black Knight had built the boat, Zhang Liang hurried over to conduct an inspection.

"Zhang Liang."

The Six-Fingered Black Knight said to Zhang Liang, "If Great Qin didn't have sealing rings, your boat really couldn't have been built."

The boat Zhang Liang designed had an axle passing through the hull.

The vessel was meant to operate in water, not run on the road.

The waterline of this assault boat was relatively shallow.

Without sealing rings, water would leak in from outside the boat.

"Have you tested it yet?"

Zhang Liang asked, "How is the speed?"

"Far ahead!"

The Six-Fingered Black Knight said with absolute confidence.

"Good!"

Zhang Liang smiled with satisfaction and said, "Let me see."

"Sure."

The Six-Fingered Black Knight said to Zhang Liang, "This assault boat requires at least two people."

"One person at the bow uses an oar to control the direction; another at the stern uses their feet to pedal the water wheel to provide power."

Zhang Liang nodded.

After the Six-Fingered Black Knight gave his instructions, two Mohist Disciples carried the boat to the water's edge and launched it.

They flipped themselves onto the boat.

Hearing that the assault boat was going for a water test, Peng Yue hurried over.

He watched as one Mohist Disciple at the bow used an oar to steer, while the other at the stern vigorously worked the pedals to operate the water wheel.

As the rotation speed of the water wheel grew faster and faster, the assault boat's forward speed also increased.

Compared to a boat rowed by hand, the assault boat was twice as fast!

"Good!"

Peng Yue clapped and shouted.

"Mhm."

Zhang Liang also looked satisfied.

"Zhang Liang."

The Six-Fingered Black Knight's face did not show much joy; instead, he asked Zhang Liang a crucial question.

"How many assault boats do you intend to build?"

The Six-Fingered Black Knight said to Zhang Liang with a serious expression, "These assault boats are not easy to build!"

"Even if you only take a thousand people to Kuaiji Commandery to launch an attack on the steam freight trains within the commandery, that means you'll need at least five hundred assault boats!"

"If a large number of assault boats appear in Kuaiji Commandery, it will be far too conspicuous."

"Furthermore, building so many assault boats will not only take a long time, but it will also consume a vast amount of manpower and materials!"
