585: Chapter 585 The Devil?

Amidst the chaotic routed army, a Gulma with a slightly disheveled figure slowly squeezed his way out of the crowd.

His armor was full of holes and stains, his hair was disheveled across his forehead, and his eyes revealed endless exhaustion and fear.

In the military system of the Mauryan Empire, the basic combat unit is the Patti, roughly equivalent to a platoon-level combat unit in today's armies.

Three Pattis form a Senamuka, which is a company-level combat unit.

And the Gulma before them commanded a battalion-level combat unit composed of three Senamukas—the Gulma.

He raised his right hand, trembling, placed it against his chest, and bowed deeply to Ravi Kumar. With a voice tinged with hoarseness and exhaustion, after greeting him, a bitter smile appeared at the corner of his mouth as he slowly said, "We fled from the city of Derosia."

"The city of Derosia has been breached by a devil!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the figure of Xiang Yu, appearing like a demon god, uncontrollably surfaced in his mind.

That figure was incredibly tall, exuding a chilling aura, and every step he took seemed to make the earth tremble.

At the mere thought of this, his body immediately had a stress reaction, trembling violently uncontrollably, as if his heart were being tightly gripped by an invisible force.

It was not just him; the soldiers following behind him, upon hearing mention of that devil, also turned pale. Thinking of Xiang Yu's terrifying appearance, they all involuntarily shivered, as if trapped in an inescapable nightmare.

"A devil?"

Upon hearing this, Ravi Kumar frowned tightly, forming a deep furrow on his brow.

He looked the Gulma up and down, inwardly feeling that something might be wrong with this man's mind.

Perhaps the enemy's offensive was too fierce, leaving him physically and mentally exhausted and on the verge of collapse, which is why he would say such absurd things.

However, Ravi Kumar did not dwell too much on the mention of a devil; he knew his task was to quickly find out exactly what had happened.

Thus, he quickly reached out and urged him impatiently, "Speak quickly, what exactly happened!"

The Gulma's face was full of terror, his eyes filled with despair, as if he had returned to that nightmarish scene.

He said with a trembling voice, "It was a devil! That devil jumped directly in from outside the city wall and, in an instant, slaughtered our brothers defending the city. As he swung the weapon in his hand, blood sprayed everywhere; our brothers had no time to react and fell into pools of blood one by one."

"The devil leader was tall, his entire body exuding black mist, and wherever he went, no one could stop him."

"After the devil opened the city gates, thousands of devils poured into the city like a tidal wave."

"They had hideous faces, killed anyone they saw, and their methods were extremely cruel. When they encountered wealth, they snatched it frantically, and the entire city of Derosia was instantly plunged into a sea of blood and chaos."

"We resisted with all our might, but we simply could not stop their frantic invasion, and the brothers beside us fell one by one."

"With no other choice, we took advantage of the chaos, fled from the city gate, and escaped in a panic all the way here!"

Listening to the Gulma's account, Ravi Kumar's expression grew increasingly grim.

He slowly narrowed his eyes, a trace of gravity and worry revealing itself in his gaze.
