101: Chapter 101 The Horror of the Human Skin Suit
It finally turned into a mummified corpse.
And that piece of human skin became even fuller and glossier.
After absorbing the vitality, it floated up again and lunged toward the next person.
"Damn it! What kind of ghost thing is this!"
Wang Laowu was so scared he retreated repeatedly, his machete almost falling to the ground.
Two more ordinary survivors were wrapped by the human skin, instantly drained of their vitality, and turned into mummified corpses.
Panic spread instantly.
Everyone was frantically waving their weapons, trying to beat back these drifting human skins.
But it was completely useless.
Machetes hacking at them and whips lashing at them could only leave a cut.
The human skin could still float and could still absorb human vitality.
"Everyone, move aside!"
Zhou Che shouted and rushed up from behind the crowd.
The red light of the blood moon scepter in his hand flared violently.
"Swish! Swish! Swish!"
One crimson beam of light after another shot out, accurately hitting those human skins floating in the air.
Some were pierced with a large hole by the beams, wobbled, but remained floating in the air.
Others were directly crushed into fragments by the red light, turning into wisps of black smoke and dissipating.
"It's working! Mr. Zhou's attacks are working!"
Seeing hope, everyone shouted one after another.
Zhou Che gritted his teeth, continuously charging the blood moon scepter.
One red beam after another shot out.
Human skins were continuously shattered, turning into black smoke.
But there were too many human skins.
Hundreds of human skins kept floating down from the clothes racks.
Like a swarm of black butterflies, they fluttered around the crowd.
Cold sweat seeped from Zhou Che's forehead.
The Sequence power within his body was rapidly depleting.
If this continued, they would be exhausted to death sooner or later.
His gaze turned once again to the two motionless plastic mannequins by the display window.
All the human skins were attacking them.
Only those two mannequins stood there quietly.
Their smooth faces faced them.
As if enjoying this massacre.
Zhou Che's eyes narrowed.
The human skin clothes were still floating.
One after another, they broke free from the clothes racks, opening their empty sleeves.
Lunging at the crowd like leeches that had found a host.
Wang Laowu swung his machete to knock one over, Shen Fei's talisman paper burned through another, and Captain Liu Ruyan's long whip knocked one down.
But these things were completely unreasonable; even after being burned or hacked, they still floated, and once they floated up, they would wrap themselves around people.
"This is fucking endless!"
Wang Laowu hacked his machete into another piece of human skin clothing, the blade embedding halfway in.
When he pulled it out, it brought out a glob of pitch-black mucus, the stench making him wrinkle his nose.
That human skin clothing fell to the ground, twitched twice, and stopped moving.
"Huh?" Wang Laowu paused for a moment. "Why isn't this one moving?"
Luo Xi kicked away a skin that was lunging at her and turned to glance at the one on the ground.
She also looked at the row still hanging on the clothes rack.
The one that had just been hacked to pieces was indeed not moving.
And those on the rack that hadn't been touched weren't swaying as vigorously as before.
"Try a few more."
Luo Xi said in a low voice, sweeping her halberd horizontally, the blade slicing across three pieces of human skin clothing.
With a tearing sound, it ripped a large hole.
Captain Liu Ruyan's long whip followed, snapping onto another one.
The force poured in, directly splitting that skin in two.
The few damaged human skin clothes fell to the ground, like deflated balls, shriveling into a heap, and no longer stirred.
The remaining ones had their swaying range visibly reduced.
Zhou Che shook the black blood off the blood moon scepter, stared at the wilted human skin clothes, and cursed:
"Damn, I thought they were so capable, they only have this much strength?"
"They are being supported by that anomaly."
Wang Zhiming pushed up his glasses, a layer of dust smudged on the lenses.
He didn't bother wiping them, his eyes fixed intently on the pile of tattered skins on the ground.
"These skins probably aren't the anomaly itself, just objects being manipulated.
Now that we've destroyed quite a few, the master outside is probably unable to supply enough power."
As soon as he finished speaking, as if to confirm his words, all the human skin clothes on the rack shook simultaneously.
Then they all fell down with a clatter, piling up on the ground like rags picked from a dump, and never moved again.
Before everyone could catch their breath, Zhou Che's gaze had already turned toward the display window.
The two plastic mannequins were still standing on the display platform, their smooth faces facing them directly.
Their postures were exactly the same as before, even the angle of their fingers hadn't changed.
But everyone felt something was wrong.
That cold, sinister aura, like mud smeared into the crevices of their bones.
Was seeping out from these two mannequins, getting thicker and thicker.
"It's these two things." Zhou Che licked his lips, his eyes fierce.
"From start to finish, it's these two things causing trouble."
He took a step forward, the red light at the tip of the blood moon scepter suddenly brightening.
A crimson beam of light blasted directly toward the mannequin on the left.
At the same time, Luo Xi had already moved, her halberd cleaving toward the mannequin on the right with a whistling sound.
Captain Liu Ruyan's long whip followed closely behind, the tip coiling toward the mannequin's legs.
The three of them's attacks arrived almost simultaneously.
The red beam hit the chest of the mannequin on the left first, exploding into a dazzling burst of red light.
Luo Xi's halberd hacked onto the shoulder of the mannequin on the right, the sound of metal colliding was sharply piercing.
Captain Liu Ruyan's long whip tightly coiled around the mannequin's ankle, pulling hard, trying to drag it down.
The mannequin on the left was knocked into a wobble by the red beam.
The mannequin on the right had a white mark on its shoulder and also wobbled.
It only wobbled once.
The red light dissipated, and there wasn't even a mark left on the chest of the mannequin on the left.
Where Luo Xi's halberd had hacked, there was only a shallow white mark.
She felt the webbing between her thumb and index finger go numb from the shock; this strike felt like hacking into a steel plate.
The rebounding force traveled up her arm to her shoulder, making half her body shake.
"What the hell is this thing?" Wang Laowu's eyelids twitched uncontrollably as he watched.
"Even Mr. Zhou's attacks can't break its defense?"
Zhou Che's face darkened, the blood moon scepter in his hand gripped so tightly it creaked.
Although he hadn't charged up that last shot, it wasn't something an ordinary anomaly could withstand.
This mannequin took it head-on and didn't budge; the defense of this thing was far higher than he had imagined.
Just as he was about to call for everyone to concentrate fire, the two mannequins began to move.
Not walking.
Transforming.
The one on the left changed first.
First, the neck—with a series of crisp cracking sounds, the neck elongated.
It stretched from its original normal length to nearly half a meter.
Then the limbs; the arms extended section by section, and the fingers grew longer.
Nails squeezed out from the fingertips, pitch-black and shiny, curved like iron hooks.
The legs also grew longer, the leg bones rattling and cracking, as if being reassembled from within.
Finally, the entire body, originally around 1.7 meters, was forced to grow to nearly 2.5 meters.
Its head changed along with it.
On the originally smooth face, flesh and skin began to squirm, as if something were crawling beneath the skin.
A pair of indentations were forced out where the eyes should be, and a slit split open where the mouth should be.
From what was originally a normal-sized mouth, it split all the way to the ears, revealing a pitch-black void inside.
The one on the right wasn't slow either.
Its transformation was even more bizarre; its limbs didn't grow longer but instead became shorter and thicker.
