8: Chapter 8 A 1.8-meter-long bed

Before the fish soup from this morning had even fully digested, Captain Wu Jue brought Luo Xi, Zhang Xiuqi, and several other Transcendents straight to Zhou Che.

Polite smiles were plastered on their faces, and they were followed by subordinates carrying supplies, keeping their attitude extremely humble.

“Brother Zhou, sorry to trouble you, but could you help us repair our vehicles?” Captain Wu Jue got straight to the point.

“We are willing to pay in supplies. Name your price, and we won't haggle at all.”

Zhou Che glanced at their damaged vehicles and didn't waste any words, agreeing immediately: “Sure, I'll fix yours first.”

The first vehicle pushed forward was Captain Wu Jue's ride—a modified heavy-duty off-road vehicle.

The vehicle looked tough; its body was welded with steel plates, its chassis was raised high, and there were several clear, blackened scorch marks from lightning on its front grille.

Zhou Che recognized at a glance that several of the lightning bolts that had struck in the canyon had landed precisely on this vehicle. Yet, it hadn't broken down and had still charged forward like crazy.

Zhou Che couldn't help but feel suspicious.

The apocalypse had come so suddenly; who could have prepared such a lightning-resistant and durable modified off-road vehicle in advance?

Could it be that this old fellow Captain Wu Jue knew the apocalypse was coming long ago?

However, he didn't point it out. He leaned over, popped the hood, and as soon as his fingertips touched the engine, he detected the problem.

The core components of the engine had been deformed by the lightning burns, and the fuel lines were clogged. No wonder it couldn't pick up speed and kept stalling. If they kept driving like this, it would break down on the road sooner or later.

Zhou Che didn't waste time and immediately channeled the power of his Mechanic Sequence.

A pale blue energy surged from his fingertips into the engine. The deformed metal slowly restored its shape, the clogged fuel lines were instantly cleared, and the damaged parts were firmly welded together.

The entire process was smooth and seamless, leaving Captain Wu Jue and his men completely dumbfounded.

Zhou Che stood up and brushed the dust off his hands. “It's fixed. Step on the gas and give it a try.”

Half-skeptical, Captain Wu Jue sat in the driver's seat and turned the key. The engine instantly let out a deep, powerful roar.

He stepped on the gas, and the off-road vehicle surged forward with rapid acceleration, no longer stalling or stuttering as before, handling incredibly smoothly.

Shock instantly washed over Captain Wu Jue's face, and when he turned to look at Zhou Che, his gaze held a genuine sense of wariness.

The capabilities of this Mechanic Sequence were truly absurd!

After repairing Captain Wu Jue's off-road vehicle, Zhou Che walked over to Luo Xi's car next.

What met his eyes was a domineering G-Wagon. The materials used for its body were solid, and even after being battered by hail and lightning, it still looked grand and imposing.

Without a doubt, this woman was definitely someone who didn't lack money before the apocalypse.

A cute little lolita was sitting inside the car. Seeing Zhou Che approach, she didn't show the slightest politeness and immediately started shouting.

“Hey, mechanic, get over here! This driver's seat is uncomfortable. Modify it to fit me; it's not convenient for me to drive at all.”

The moment those words came out, Zhou Che's face turned completely dark.

I am a dignified Transcendent who awakened the orthodox Mechanic Sequence. Even if you, a little lolita, have some unique charm...

Am I someone you can just order around at your beck and call?

Yet, I got casually called a mere mechanic by a little brat?

Anger flared up inside him, and Zhou Che immediately felt like turning around and leaving. Whoever wanted to do this job could do it.

Just as he was about to take a step, Luo Xi slowly walked over from the side.

Dressed in a sharp, form-fitting outfit that outlined her golden-ratio figure, her long, slender, straight legs were exceptionally eye-catching, and her aura was both cold and powerful.

She stepped forward quickly and immediately tried to smooth things over.

“Brother Zhou Che, she's just a child and doesn't know any better. She's just playing around, so please don't take it to heart.”

“I will pay you double the supplies as compensation. I'll have to trouble you to put some effort into modifying the vehicle.”

As she spoke, she turned and glared fiercely at the little lolita inside the car, Ruan Xiaoxiao.

This little girl was her only cousin and her sole remaining relative in the apocalypse. Usually, Luo Xi was extremely indulgent and pampered her.

Intimidated by her older cousin, Ruan Xiaoxiao immediately pursed her lips and obediently shut her mouth, speaking no further.

Zhou Che's gaze fell upon Luo Xi's dazzling long legs, his Adam's apple bobbing unconsciously as he secretly swallowed his saliva.

Combined with the temptation of double the supplies, the anger in his heart was forcibly suppressed.

He waved his hand, his tone softening considerably: “No need to call me Brother Zhou Che. We are all Transcendents of The Convoy. Just call me Zhou Che. There's no need to be so formal.”

With that, he stopped wasting time and leaned down to inspect the damage of this G-Wagon.

While repairing the faults accumulated along the journey, he also readjusted and modified the driver's seat layout as requested, optimizing the dimensions and angles to fit perfectly.

Relying on the power of his Mechanic Sequence, the modification process was completed in one go, leaving the entire vehicle in a brand-new state.

After everything was finished, Zhou Che stole another couple of glances at Luo Xi, gave a brief greeting, and then turned to leave, preparing to repair the next vehicle.

By the time he finished repairing the vehicles of all the Transcendents in The Convoy, the sun had already tilted to the west, and in the blink of an eye, it was afternoon.

After tossing and turning for most of the day, Zhou Che felt exhausted all over and walked straight back into his wuling hongguang.

Slumping onto the seat, he turned and shouted outside: “Lin Wan, go collect all the repair supplies they gave us.”

After giving the order, Zhou Che looked around the car, and the more he looked, the more uncomfortable he felt.

The exterior of this car was repaired to be sturdy and durable, but the interior space was simply too cramped and crowded.

During previous rests on the road, he had always curled up on the seat to make do. He would wake up with his whole body aching, without even a place to stretch out.

Furthermore, regarding last night's battle, although it was highly enjoyable, the knowledge unlocked was still too little.

It wasn't exciting enough!

Thinking back to Captain Wu Jue's modified off-road vehicle, the interior space was spacious and orderly, making it incredibly comfortable to live in.

By comparison, Zhou Che immediately had an idea in mind and began to ponder modification methods.

He planned to first remove all the rear seats, directly connecting the back seat area with the trunk to completely merge the fragmented spaces.

Then, he would find a thick mattress to lay down, creating a 1.8-meter bed. From then on, he could sleep lying flat and would never have to suffer from curling up again. Having a comfortable big bed in the apocalypse would instantly maximize his sense of happiness.

As for what that big bed could be used for, well, you shouldn't ask too many questions.

As for the remaining space behind the big bed, he would build a whole row of shelves specifically for storing supplies.

Right now, the supplies were piled up in a mess, making inventory and organization a hassle every time. With dedicated shelves to categorize and store everything, it would save time and effort.

At this thought, the corners of Zhou Che's mouth couldn't help but curl up. The more he thought about it, the more brilliant he found the idea.

“Just thinking about it won't do. Let's get to work!”

Slapping his thigh, he stood up immediately without any delay, ready to start modifying his beloved car.

Lin Wan, who went to collect the supplies, arrived beside Luo Xi's G-Wagon to retrieve the payment for the repairs.

Luo Xi didn't say much, directly taking out the prepared supplies from the car and handing them over to Lin Wan.

During the exchange, Luo Xi's gaze calmly swept over Lin Wan, sizing her up.

With this look, her heart suddenly skipped a beat.

Lin Wan actually exuded a faint aura of a Transcendent, the exact same kind of aura as the overbearing Wang Ba from before!

As Lin Wan carried the supplies and turned to leave, Luo Xi stood by the car, secretly wondering: 'Could this girl have actually awakened?'

She wasn't sure, so she didn't step forward to ask.

But as soon as she thought of her cousin Ruan Xiaoxiao, Luo Xi's eyes instantly dimmed.
