28: Chapter 28 Top Ten Wonders
Chen Fei looked up and met the resolute killing intent in Zhou Che's eyes; he knew he had no chance of survival.
Without a shred of hesitation, he opened his mouth and spilled his deepest secret.
"Shancheng! Something huge has happened in Shancheng!"
"A top-tier treasure, legendarily ranked within the top ten of the strange object list, is about to descend upon Shancheng!"
As soon as these words were spoken, Zhou Che's gaze instantly sharpened, and his footsteps faltered for a split second.
Top ten of the strange object list? What kind of concept was that?
The heaven and earth in his hands was already heaven-defying, capable of directly creating a closed desert cage, yet it didn't even rank on the list. Just how terrifying must the top ten treasures be?
Chen Fei gasped for breath and continued:
"Right now, all the big and small factions in the surrounding areas are rushing toward Shancheng. Everyone is red-eyed, just waiting for the strange object to descend, ready to risk their lives to snatch it!"
"But that place is also extremely evil; there are too many strange powers. For an ordinary The Convoy, getting close is just courting death!"
"The Convoy was originally rooted in Shancheng. We intended to evacuate early to avoid disaster, but we ran into various factions rushing back. It was only after asking around that we learned about this.
With our meager strength, we didn't even have the qualifications to go and watch the spectacle, so we had to hurry out of the city. We never expected to plunge headfirst into this damned The Desert."
Zhou Che stood where he was, his fingertips rubbing against the pitch-black heaven and earth in his palm. His heart stirred, and he immediately summoned the system in his mind to check the grade of this strange object.
The next second, the system panel directly popped up a line of information: [strange object: heaven and earth, strange object list ranking: 204].
Zhou Che was shocked on the spot, his pupils constricted sharply, and he couldn't help but exclaim internally that it was outrageous!
He had always known this thing was not simple, but he hadn't expected it to rank so high!
That Sequence combat saber in Lin Wan's hands back then was already considered a rare and good item in the apocalypse, yet its strange object list ranking was over ten thousand. Compared to the heaven and earth, it wasn't even worth mentioning!
Comparing it this way, he finally understood completely that he had picked up a truly heaven-defying treasure in The Desert this time!
Coming back to his senses, Zhou Che's thoughts drifted back to the top ten strange objects in Shancheng. His fingertips unconsciously rubbed his chin, and he felt a stirring of temptation in his heart.
If he could snatch one of the top ten strange objects, his strength would definitely be able to jump up several levels!
But upon second thought, he calmed down again.
He had gained an understanding of the major factions from Captain Wu Jue's captain's notebook; those top-tier factions had Sequence Five Transcendents holding the fort!
Although they might not necessarily send a Sequence Five Transcendent to compete for this strange object.
But he still had to be on guard.
And right now, his strongest Sequence was only Sequence 2. Compared to a Sequence Five, the gap in strength was like a chasm; if he really clashed head-on, he wouldn't stand a chance.
However, in an instant, Zhou Che smiled, his eyes full of confidence.
So what if he couldn't beat them?
His entire Dawn Convoy was composed of hovering vehicles. In terms of mobility, looking across the entire apocalypse, one couldn't find a second one!
Even if he couldn't snatch it from those big factions, he could just go over to watch the excitement of the top-tier strange object and broaden his horizons, right?
If he really encountered danger, he could just control The Convoy to take off and run. The sky was unobstructed; who could stop him? Who could catch up?
Thinking of this, Zhou Che completely set his mind at ease. He turned his head to stare at Chen Fei and asked coldly:
"Is there any other news? Tell me everything."
Chen Fei smiled bitterly and shook his head, his face full of dejection:
"There is no more. We are just small characters struggling in the apocalypse; those big factions wouldn't reveal information to us at all. Being able to know this much is already a stroke of luck."
Zhou Che looked at him indifferently, his eyes without a single ripple.
Chen Fei had said everything he needed to say; his last bit of utility value was gone.
"Rest assured, I keep my word. I will take in all the survivors from The Convoy and give them a way to live."
As his voice fell, Zhou Che didn't hesitate in the slightest. He raised his hand, condensed a wisp of blood mist, and instantly finished off Chen Fei.
It was clean and efficient, without any unnecessary delay.
Not far away, the ordinary survivors of the Voyage Convoy watched their last Transcendent die at the hands of Zhou Che and were instantly scared out of their wits.
Those who were originally fighting with the Dawn Convoy over supplies and brawling immediately stopped, let go in unison, and retreated several steps.
One by one, they lowered their heads, not daring to even breathe loudly. Where was the ferocity they had shown earlier while snatching things?
They knew clearly in their hearts that their Transcendents were all dead. Without their backing, just relying on them, these ordinary people...
They were simply no match for the Dawn Convoy. If they dared to cause trouble again, the next one to die would be themselves.
Zhou Che scanned the scene coldly, his gaze sweeping over the two groups of survivors as he quickly counted the numbers.
Having been tormented by the Wraith Black Mist earlier, the Dawn Convoy only had about fifty ordinary survivors left.
On the side of the Voyage Convoy, a batch had died from starvation or brawling while trapped in The Desert, and only about fifty people remained.
With the two groups combined, at most there were about a hundred people.
In this apocalypse, this number wasn't a lot, but it wasn't few either; it was just enough to support a decent The Convoy. Any more, and it would easily attract powerful strange entities; any less, and they would lack labor.
Now that the heaven and earth was in his hands, Zhou Che could remove the strange object's barrier at any time and take The Convoy out of this The Desert.
But he thought again: since they had already set up camp, it would be better to get things done right here.
He could take this opportunity to completely build The Convoy's power structure and set rules, so that in the future, when the team grew larger, there wouldn't be management chaos or people daring to cause trouble wantonly, and it would save him from having to find a special place to deal with it later.
Having made up his mind, Zhou Che turned to look at Lin Wan beside him and gave an order:
"Go, call that history Ph.D. over—the middle-aged man you mentioned who is always clutching a history book."
Lin Wan nodded in agreement, turned, and walked into the crowd of survivors. Her gaze swept quickly, and she soon found Wang Zhiming in a corner.
He was wearing an old shirt with a bruise on his face, evidently injured by mistake during the brawl between the two teams earlier.
He carried the simple honesty of a scholar, along with a faint scholarly aura, making him stand out among the disheveled survivors.
Lin Wan walked straight up to him and spoke indifferently: "Wang Zhiming, Mr. Zhou wants to see you."
Wang Zhiming's heart skipped a beat; he instantly became nervous, and his palms broke out in cold sweat.
He didn't know why this decisive Captain Zhou was looking for him, and his heart was filled with anxiety.
But having witnessed Lin Wan's Transcendent strength, he dared not have any thoughts of resistance and hurriedly stood up, following Lin Wan toward Zhou Che.
Soon, Wang Zhiming stood in front of Zhou Che, head lowered, looking reserved.
Zhou Che glanced at the injury on his face and didn't take it to heart.
This minor injury was nothing; later he would have Ruan Xiaoxiao deal with it, and it would heal in minutes.
Right now, he just wanted to establish the power system as quickly as possible and get the team completely organized so he could head to Shancheng.
Without any extra pleasantries, Zhou Che went straight to the point, even deliberately softening his tone and using an honorific, showing full respect:
"Mr. Wang, I want to build a power structure suitable for the apocalypse and for The Convoy to facilitate managing the team. You are knowledgeable; do you have any suitable methods?"
