15: Chapter 15 Paradise on Earth

Zhou Che stroked his chin and pondered. With so many Sequences, how long would it take if he relied solely on his own hard work to cultivate them?

It would be better to pick a few loyal and reliable subordinates, hand out all the extra Sequences, and let them cultivate and level up on his behalf. He could just sit back and reap the profits—effortless and highly lucrative.

Before long, the horizon turned a pale white as the morning light pierced through the clouds, completely illuminating the wilderness.

The ordinary survivors of the two convoys were as busy as usual, lighting fires to cook and organizing supplies. They had absolutely no idea that a fierce battle between Transcendents had broken out last night, let alone that the Transcendents on both sides had already changed, and that Zhou Che now called all the shots in this territory.

Zhou Che leaned against the bed, watching Lin Wan as she busied herself preparing breakfast. Her movements were graceful, radiating a warm, domestic charm.

He smiled heartily, his heart filled with contentment.

Who said the apocalypse had to be a living hell?

With a system in hand, countless Sequences at his disposal, and a beautiful woman by his side, this was, damn it, clearly heaven on earth!

Right after breakfast, Zhou Che leaned back on his 1.8-meter-wide bed and jerked his chin toward the door. "Lin Wan, go gather the people from both convoys."

What he needed to do now was integrate The Convoys. Seeing that things had gone south last night, those two Transcendents from the other side had definitely packed up and fled overnight.

With Lin Wan's current strength, absolutely no one in this camp could stand in her way.

Lin Wan acknowledged the command and turned to gather the people from their own convoy first.

Things went incredibly smoothly on this side. As soon as she stepped out of the Hongguang, the survivors of the Dawn Convoy immediately gathered around, all of them highly respectful, none of them daring to be negligent.

Everyone knew Lin Wan was Zhou Che's person, and no one dared to cross her.

But when Lin Wan turned to go to the other convoy, she met with soft resistance.

The people on the other side didn't know her at all, let alone that she was a Transcendent. They merely took her for Zhou Che's ordinary assistant and didn't take her seriously.

Lin Wan barged straight into the opposite camp and immediately spotted Lin Feng, the Guide's assistant whom she had seen yesterday.

Lin Feng was currently frowning, feeling extremely anxious.

The Transcendents had gone out last night and never returned, with no sign of them even now, leaving him feeling deeply unsettled.

If those lords abandoned ordinary survivors like them and ran, their group wouldn't last a single day in this apocalypse before being devoured by the aberrations until nothing was left.

Seeing Lin Wan come to find him, Lin Feng swept his gaze up and down her, feeling even more displeased.

He had already looked into it and knew this woman was Zhou Che's person, but wasn't Zhou Che overstepping his bounds? Both convoys minded their own business; what right did he have to order them around?

Furthermore, being the captain's assistant himself and managing some miscellaneous chores, he didn't respect Lin Wan, this "beautiful assistant," in the slightest, and immediately put on airs.

Lin Wan coldly told him to gather everyone, but Lin Feng merely curled his lip and waved his hand dismissively. "Got it, got it. What's the rush? I'll go call them now."

Though he agreed verbally, he didn't move a muscle, grumbling inwardly:

So what if she's Zhou Che's person? Do they really think we have no one left on our side? I am the captain's assistant; who is she, a mere woman, to give me orders?

Lin Wan saw right through Lin Feng's superficial compliance, her eyes filled with naked disdain.

She didn't bother beating around the bush with him and directly dropped a bombshell, her tone sharp and biting.

"Stop putting on an act with me. The Transcendents of your convoy are either dead or have fled. They are long gone!"

"And yet you're still putting on airs and thinking so highly of yourself. Don't you find it laughable?"

"Go find out where your masters have gone first before you talk to me, you idiot!"

At first, Lin Feng looked completely dismissive, not believing a word.

The Transcendents on their side were originally stronger; how could they have fallen at Zhou Che's hands?

But seeing the mocking look on Lin Wan's face, and recalling that their own Guide had been nowhere to be found since he woke up this morning, panic instantly seized his heart, and he was completely shaken.

In a fluster, he fumbled for his walkie-talkie and contacted the assistants of the other Transcendents one by one.

After asking around, the answer was exactly the same: every single Transcendent had vanished without a trace, and they were completely unreachable!

Lin Feng's face turned deathly pale. He no longer dared to put on the slightest air and finally believed Lin Wan's words.

Not daring to delay, he hurriedly raised his voice to summon all the survivors of his convoy to gather.

Before long, around a hundred people from both convoys gathered in an orderly fashion on the open ground.

Zhou Che sat leisurely at the very front, his posture casual yet domineering.

Lin Wan and Ruan Xiaoxiao stood straight beside him, one on his left and one on his right.

Zhou Che swept his gaze over the crowd in front of him, muttering inwardly.

He still had too few Transcendents around him. With only two girls, it ultimately didn't look domineering enough to command the scene.

The attitudes of the two groups on the scene were poles apart.

The survivors of his own convoy all kept their heads lowered as they looked at Zhou Che, behaving themselves and not daring to utter a sound, not even daring to breathe too loudly.

But the people from the opposite convoy were whispering among themselves, highly restless, their eyes filled with defiance, not taking Zhou Che seriously at all.

Zhou Che took a sweep of them, and his face instantly darkened.

I, a grand and powerful Transcendent with a bunch of Sequences in my hands, am actually being ignored by a bunch of ordinary people here? They aren't giving me any face at all!

He didn't bother wasting his breath on this crowd and casually gestured to Lin Wan.

Lin Wan immediately leaned down obediently, leaning close to Zhou Che to await his orders.

Zhou Che lowered his voice, his tone bone-chillingly cold. "Go grab a few troublemakers and drag them out to make an example of them, so they learn some rules."

"Yes, Mr. Zhou," Lin Wan replied, her voice still carrying a touch of sweet softness.

But in the next second, she suddenly raised her head. Her pretty face instantly turned frosty, her eyes as sharp as knives, and her entire body exuded a terrifying murderous aura.

Without another word, she strode directly into the crowd of the opposite convoy.

Seeing this, Lin Feng hurriedly stepped forward to block her, trying to say a few polite words to smooth things over.

But Lin Wan didn't give him a chance at all. Her gaze swept over the crowd, and she directly pointed out the three most active and defiant guys.

"You, you, and you—all of you, get the hell out here!"

When pointed out, instead of moving, the three of them stiffened their necks and clamored, their faces full of disdain.

"We aren't people from your convoy. Why should we listen to your orders?"

"Once our Transcendent lords return, you'll get what's coming to you!"

This actually made Lin Wan laugh. She looked down on them with a face full of mockery, her tone extremely cold.

"Transcendents? Those Transcendent lords of yours are either dead or have fled long ago. Are you still daydreaming?"

"I gave you a chance and you didn't take it, so don't regret it!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Lin Wan exerted force under her feet, her figure suddenly leaping forward.

A crimson glow of the blood moon flashed around her body. Without the slightest hesitation, she threw a fierce punch at the man who had clamored first.

Bang!

With a dull thud, the man's head was directly smashed like a rotten watermelon, killing him on the spot.

The remaining two were scared out of their wits. Their faces turned deathly pale, their legs went weak, and they were just about to open their mouths to beg for mercy.

But Lin Wan didn't give them any chance at all. Striking swiftly, accurately, and ruthlessly, she threw two consecutive punches, cleanly slaying the two of them on the spot.
