102: Chapter 102 Models Appear
Its entire body crouched down, looking like a giant toad.
But its back bulged, tearing through its clothes and revealing the grayish-white skin underneath.
The skin was densely covered with tiny holes, each oozing black slime.
Two completely different, eerie auras erupted from these two Mannequins.
The aura on the left was cold and sharp, like razor blades scraping against skin.
The aura on the right was thick and heavy, like having one's nose and mouth plastered with mud.
Everyone was backing away.
Shen Fei's calves were trembling, and the talisman paper in his hand nearly fell to the ground.
Wang Laowu held his machete in front of his chest, the blade shaking.
It wasn't out of fear, but because his muscles were so tense that he couldn't stop them from shaking.
"Damn it... these two things have been watching us the whole time."
Shen Fei's voice trembled,
"They were standing right there, watching us fight for our lives against the human skin suit.
Watching us get scared out of our wits, from start to finish."
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone felt a chill down their spines.
Thinking about it, that was indeed the case.
From the moment they entered the shop, these two Mannequins had been standing there.
No matter how they ran, slashed, or vomited, the Mannequins just watched, motionless.
They were watching a show.
Zhou Che felt a fire surge up from his chest, parching his throat.
He had always been the one suppressing the weird entities; when had he ever been played for a fool by them?
Just as he was about to curse, the Mannequin on the left moved.
It flicked its arm, and that claw, which reached down to its knees, traced a circle in the air.
The movement was light and airy, as if it were shooing away a fly.
Then, several screams came from behind Zhou Che.
"No!"
The voices of seven or eight survivors erupted in their throats simultaneously, and then cut off just as abruptly.
It wasn't that they were interrupted; they were simply erased, just like that.
Their bodies started to turn transparent, beginning from their feet, bit by bit.
It was as if something was erasing them from this world, stroke by stroke.
First the feet, then the legs, then the waist, and finally, not even their heads remained.
Zhou Che whipped his head around, only to see that the spot where those seven or eight people had been was now completely empty.
There were a few pairs of shoes on the ground, along with a scarf.
The scarf still held the shape of being wrapped around someone's neck, but its owner was no longer in this world.
"Ah!! Damn it! It's happening again!"
Someone screamed like a madman, then shoved the person next to them and tried to run toward the shop entrance.
But the shop entrance was no longer in its original position; they ran a dozen steps, but they were still inside the shop.
"Everyone, stay the hell still!"
Zhou Che roared at the top of his lungs, his voice so loud that it made the nearby clothing racks shake,
"Why are you moving! Who has something dirty on them? Did the ones from just now not get cleaned up properly?"
Everyone started tugging at their own clothes or checking each other's shoe soles.
Wang Zhiming, having a sharp eye, pointed at the shoes on the ground:
"Mr. Zhou! Those people from just now stepped on the fragments of the human skin suit, and their shoe soles were stained with black blood!"
Everyone's gaze snapped toward the ground.
When they were hacking at the human skin suit earlier, a lot of black blood and slime had splattered on the ground, and several survivors had indeed stepped in it.
They hadn't noticed, walking around with that filth on their soles.
Now they were gone.
"Damn," Zhou Che squeezed out from between his teeth.
"These damn rules."
The two Mannequins just stood there, their deformed bodies casting twisted shadows under the dim light.
They were in no rush to attack, just watching.
Zhou Che gripped the blood moon scepter tightly.
He understood now; these two things weren't incapable of moving, they just disdained to move.
Within their domain, the rules were the sharpest blades.
They didn't need to strike personally; they could grind everyone to death one by one just by relying on the rules.
What they wanted was never a quick victory, but to play slowly.
Enjoying the despair of their prey, scurrying around within the rules until they finally broke down.
"You sure know how to enjoy yourself."
Zhou Che stared at those two mouths split all the way to the ears, the fire in his eyes burning brighter and brighter.
He kept his voice extremely low, low enough that only Luo Xi beside him could hear.
"Fine, if you want to play, I'll play with you.
Luo Xi, Wang Laowu, Captain Liu Ruyan, Ruan Xiaoxiao, you four, focus fire on the one on the left.
Wang Zhiming, you take the others and keep an eye on the one on the right; if it moves, hold it back with your lives."
He paused, then said, enunciating every word: "Three seconds. Give me three seconds."
Luo Xi glanced at him.
She saw the roiling red light in the depths of Zhou Che's eyes, and the bulging veins on the hand holding the blood moon scepter.
She didn't ask anything; she just slammed her halberd into the ground, picked up her strange object dagger, and walked to the front of the group.
"Everyone, listen up!"
Luo Xi's voice wasn't loud, but it was clear and powerful, cutting through the fear and chaos filling the room.
"Focus fire on the Mannequin on the left, and hold it down for me for three seconds!"
Captain Liu Ruyan's long whip was the first to lash out.
The tip of the whip swirled in the air, precisely wrapping around the left Mannequin's claw.
She leaned back with her whole body, her feet digging two deep grooves into the floor.
Putting her entire center of gravity onto the whip, she managed to force that claw, which was just about to be raised, to tilt to one side.
Ruan Xiaoxiao's slingshot followed closely behind.
"Bang, bang, bang!" Three steel balls flew out in a triangular formation, all three striking the Mannequin's crotch with absolute precision.
Wang Laowu's machete arrived.
He leaped up, gripping the blade with both hands, and slashed down from the air.
The blade whistled through the air and slammed solidly onto the Mannequin's shoulder.
Sparks flew from the strike, and the blade chipped, but the Mannequin's shoulder was forced to sink downward.
Luo Xi's dagger struck at the same time.
She chose the Mannequin's ankle, the spot where Captain Liu Ruyan's whip had wrapped around, where a faint mark still remained on the skin.
The strange object dagger pierced in along that faint mark, the tip sinking in half an inch, and then she flipped her wrist and pressed the blade downward.
The Mannequin's left foot was nailed to the display stand.
The Mannequin on the left let out a hoarse, low growl, its body leaning forward, trying to break free.
But Captain Liu Ruyan's whip was wrapped around its hand, and Wang Laowu's machete was pressing down on its shoulder.
Luo Xi's dagger was pinning its foot, and Ruan Xiaoxiao's steel balls kept pelting its joints.
Three seconds.
The moment everyone made their move, Zhou Che had already held the blood moon scepter horizontally in front of his chest.
He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and then snapped them open.
The red light in the depths of his eyes erupted.
Extraordinary power surged from within his body like floodwater from an opened dam, pouring along his arm into the blood moon scepter.
The blood moon gemstone at the top of the scepter lit up.
First dark red, then crimson, then a blinding scarlet.
Inside the gemstone, it looked as if blood was churning, rotating in circles.
It spun faster and faster, and the wind it generated blew Zhou Che's hair up.
The surrounding air was sucked dry.
Wang Zhiming, standing next to him, felt difficulty breathing, as if a stone were pressing on his chest.
Ordinary people collapsed onto the floor, unable to get up, suppressed by this force.
The red light at the top of the scepter grew brighter and brighter, so bright that everyone nearby couldn't help but turn their heads away.
The scarlet light coalesced on the surface of the gemstone into a ball of light the size of a fist.
Electric arcs danced on the surface of the light ball, emitting a piercing buzzing sound.
"Die, you bastard!"
Zhou Che roared, and thrust the scepter forward violently.
The scarlet ball of light broke away from the scepter, transforming into a beam of light as thick as an arm.
With a shriek that tore through the air, it shot straight toward the chest of the left Mannequin.
The instant the light beam struck the Mannequin's chest, the lights in the entire clothing store went out simultaneously.
All that remained before everyone's eyes was a sea of scarlet.
