95: Chapter 95 Spying in the Dark

Their footsteps staggered as they precisely assumed the tactical formation they had practiced that morning.

Luo Xi stood at the very front, sinking her center of gravity and clenching her fists;

Captain Liu Ruyan stood in the middle, her long whip raised, ready to strike;

Zhou Che stood at the back, a faint red light glowing at the tip of his blood moon scepter.

The Perceiver Sequence firmly locked onto the three targets inside the warehouse.

Their auras were not strong; they were just ordinary anomalies.

Zhou Che was confident and did not call for the people outside to come in.

It was the perfect opportunity to set an example for those behind them.

"Clang!"

The warehouse's wooden door was violently kicked open.

Three anomalies roared as they charged out.

The one in front was covered in rotting flesh, its arms hanging limp, revealing stark white bones;

The one in the middle had a humanoid outline, but its face was smooth, lacking any features save for a split mouth that stretched all the way to its earlobes;

The last one crawled on the ground on all fours like a mad dog, its claws long enough to gouge into concrete.

They caught the scent of living humans, their eyes glowing red as they lunged straight for Luo Xi, who was closest.

"Attack!"

Luo Xi let out a low shout and met them head-on.

She did not take the rotting anomaly's claw head-on; instead, she slid her feet and dodged to the side.

At the same time, she exerted force from her waist and abdomen, delivering a fierce whip kick to the rotting anomaly's knee.

A crisp cracking sound rang out.

The rotting anomaly's leg snapped, and it fell to its knees with a thud, letting out a painful shriek.

Just then, Captain Liu Ruyan's long whip arrived.

With a crisp "snap."

The whip darted out like a viper, tightly coiling around the faceless monster's neck.

Captain Liu Ruyan leaned back, pouring all her strength into her arm.

With a squelch.

The faceless anomaly's head was severed, black blood spraying across the ground as it rolled far away.

The third anomaly, the mad dog, seized the opportunity to flank them and pounced at Captain Liu Ruyan's undefended back.

Zhou Che had been prepared.

The blood moon scepter in his hand flashed with red light.

A crimson beam shot out, precisely piercing through the mad dog anomaly's head.

The mad dog anomaly swayed, collapsed to the ground, twitched twice, and then went still.

The entire process took less than ten seconds.

It was clean and efficient, without a hint of hesitation.

"Nice!"

Wang Laowu, outside, couldn't help but shout, clapping vigorously.

The other survivors were stunned.

They had seen Transcendents fight anomalies before, usually locked in grueling battles and covered in blood.

They had never seen it done so easily.

The three of them coordinated as if they were one person, every move and gesture perfectly executed.

So, anomalies weren't that terrifying after all.

It turned out that as long as they coordinated well, they could deal with them this easily.

The tension and fear in everyone's eyes dissipated by more than half in an instant.

In its place was excitement and confidence.

"Did you see that? Just keep this rhythm."

Zhou Che wiped the black blood off his scepter and said to the people outside.

"Work in groups of three: main attack to distract, long-range to output damage, and side support to finish them off. These ordinary anomalies are no match for us."

"Remember, don't panic, don't lose focus, and trust your teammates."

Everyone nodded in succession, gripping their weapons tightly.

The panic from before was gone from their eyes, replaced by a touch of determination.

"Let's go, to Hongfan Plaza."

Zhou Che waved his hand, and everyone got back into their vehicles.

The Convoy slowly drove into the county town, heading along the main street toward Hongfan Plaza.

Both sides of the street were filled with abandoned vehicles and collapsed buildings, with rotting corpses visible from time to time.

The atmosphere became tense once again.

Just as they turned a street corner, an anomaly darted out from behind a trash can.

It was covered in green fur, its mouth wide open, roaring as it lunged at Shen Fei, who was in the second vehicle at the front.

"Watch out!"

Wang Laowu shouted, pushed open the car door, and jumped out.

Shen Fei trembled in fear, nearly dropping the steel pipe in his hand.

He gritted his teeth and jumped out after him.

The two of them stood in the formation they had practiced that morning.

Wang Laowu stood in the front to lead the attack, while Shen Fei provided cover on the flank.

The green-furred anomaly lunged straight at Wang Laowu.

Wang Laowu swung his machete at it.

However, his hand shook, and he missed, striking the anomaly on the shoulder instead.

The machete became embedded in the bone, and he couldn't pull it out.

The green-furred anomaly felt the pain, roared, and turned to pounce on Wang Laowu.

"Shen Fei!" Wang Laowu shouted, clutching the anomaly's waist tightly.

Shen Fei reacted, swung the steel pipe, and smashed it down onto the anomaly's head.

"Thud!" A muffled sound rang out.

He had hit it, but he didn't have enough strength; the anomaly only swayed and struggled even more frantically.

Wang Laowu was pinned to the ground, his face turning beet red.

"Quick! Smash it again!"

Shen Fei gritted his teeth and struck a dozen more times.

Only when the anomaly's head was smashed to a pulp did it finally stop moving.

The two of them collapsed on the ground, gasping for air.

They were covered in black blood and dust, looking utterly disheveled.

They had almost been caught by the anomaly several times just now, and thinking about it still made them fearful.

But more than that, they felt excitement and a sense of achievement.

They had killed an anomaly with their own strength!

"Not bad, kid!"

Wang Laowu climbed up, patted Shen Fei on the shoulder, and laughed heartily.

"You were so impressive for our first time working together! From now on, we're a golden duo!"

Shen Fei smiled as well, his face covered in dust, revealing a mouthful of white teeth.

"Yeah, Brother Wang! We did it!"

The surrounding survivors applauded, and someone shouted loudly, "Well done!"

Zhou Che sat in the vehicle, watching this scene with a smile curling at the corner of his lips.

Although their movements were still clumsy and their coordination lacked synergy.

They had already taken the first step.

With a few more practice sessions, they would soon be able to handle things on their own.

The Convoy continued to move forward, heading in the direction of Hongfan Plaza.

The streets became narrower, and the buildings on both sides grew denser.

The stench of rot in the air also grew stronger.

Zhou Che's gaze gradually became serious.

He could sense the presence of anomalies inside Hongfan Plaza ahead.

And they were far stronger than the ones they had just encountered.

The Convoy drove deep into the county town, where the buildings on both sides of the street became increasingly dense.

No one noticed that a pair of eyes was staring intently at their convoy from a third-floor window of a residential building by the roadside.

It was not until the last hovercar turned the corner and disappeared from view that the person pulled their head back in.

He was small and thin, his movements as nimble as a cat, sliding down the stairs by stepping on the railing.

He jogged all the way and rushed into a nearby house not far away.

"Boss! Boss! People have entered the city!"

He pushed open the door and shouted at the top of his lungs.

Seven or eight people sat in the room, all looking fierce, holding machetes and steel pipes.

The man in the lead was named Zhuang Zeqiang, and he had a long scar on his face that stretched from the corner of his eye down to his chin.

He was cleaning a handgun, and upon hearing the voice, he looked up, his eyes sharp as knives.

"What are you panicking about? Tell me slowly. How many people? Are there any Transcendents?"

"So many vehicles! They're all the kind that can fly in the sky! They look so freaking awesome!"

The third one gestured excitedly,

"I counted, there are seven hovercars in total! About fifty people, and nine of them are Transcendents!"

"Nine Transcendents?"
