31: Chapter 31 Assigning Dual Sequences

Zhou Che raised his hand and gently patted Lin Wan on the shoulder. With a thought, he directly bestowed the Mechanic Sequence upon her.

A gentle yet powerful burst of mechanical energy instantly erupted within Lin Wan, intertwining with her original Lord of the Blood Moon Sequence.

The two forces did not conflict; instead, they nourished and amplified each other, causing her strength to surge significantly, leaving her body filled with inexhaustible energy.

Lin Wan closed her eyes, carefully sensing the power of the dual Sequence within her. She was so moved that tears almost fell, and her body couldn't stop trembling.

Others could work themselves to death for a lifetime and still only possess a single Sequence.

By following Zhou Che, she had actually awakened a dual Sequence with ease, becoming an incredibly rare and envied dual-Sequence Transcendent in this apocalypse!

She could never repay this stroke of fortune and kindness in her lifetime; she could only follow Zhou Che wholeheartedly, without any second thoughts.

Overcome with excitement, Lin Wan could no longer hold back. She stepped forward, embraced Zhou Che tightly, and took the initiative to kiss him, filled with gratitude and dependence.

Zhou Che did not refuse. He directly pulled her into the modified RV, used his Sequence power to completely isolate the inside of the vehicle from the outside, ensuring not a single sound would leak out.

Before long, the vehicle body began to shake violently, causing the surrounding sand and stones to tremble continuously, as if the entire vehicle was about to be shaken apart.

The survivors in the camp caught a glimpse of this scene, but they all lowered their heads and kept their eyes straight, busy with their own tasks. No one dared to whisper a word or take even a second glance.

This kind of matter was not something they, as ordinary people at the bottom, had the right to watch, let alone gossip about. One extra glance or one extra word could potentially invite a fatal disaster; no one dared to gamble with their own lives.

When the movement inside the vehicle subsided, Zhou Che stepped out, feeling refreshed. He stretched and left Lin Wan in the vehicle to focus on repairing it.

He strolled alone through the camp, recalling everything that had happened today, and his expression gradually darkened.

Today, Chen Fei and his gang had dared to take a risk and launch a sneak attack precisely because he was away searching for clues and The Convoy's defenses were weak. Captain Liu Ruyan and Ruan Xiaoxiao had nearly met with disaster and fallen into danger.

Ultimately, it was his lack of foresight; the combat power left behind to guard The Convoy was too weak, which gave others an opportunity to exploit.

From now on, no matter where he went or what he did, The Convoy must have enough main combat Transcendents left behind to firmly guard it; otherwise, if someone took advantage of the vulnerability again, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Furthermore, the three women by his side could not always live under his protection; this time was a bloody lesson.

He must help them awaken combat Sequences to improve their ability to protect themselves; he absolutely could not let today's danger repeat itself.

Zhou Che mentally counted the Transcendents in The Convoy; including Wang Zhiming, who had just awakened, there were only six people in total.

This manpower was simply too little. It could handle small-scale convoys, but if they truly ran into a major faction, they wouldn't stand a chance.

Although a power structure had been established, without clear promotion channels, it was impossible to mobilize the enthusiasm of the survivors or retain those who were genuinely willing to work.

After much thought, Zhou Che tentatively set a rule:

"Anyone who performs meritorious service for The Convoy or for him, whether it be fighting off enemies, protecting companions, or working diligently in logistics, will have the opportunity to awaken a Sequence and become a Transcendent."

It just so happened that the two convoys had just had a skirmish today, which was the perfect opportunity to see if there were any brave, fierce, and loyal individuals among the ordinary survivors who could be promoted to bolster The Convoy's combat power.

Zhou Che strolled leisurely through the camp. Wherever he went, whether it was the veterans of the Dawn Convoy or the survivors from the newly surrendered Voyage Convoy,

they all lowered their heads, cowering to the side, not daring to even breathe loudly. No one dared to look him in the eye; their gazes were filled with fear.

Zhou Che had long been accustomed to this awe. Ever since he became a top-tier Transcendent with countless lives under his command, these ordinary people had never dared to look him straight in the face.

Yet he was not satisfied in his heart. What was mere fear?

He wanted these people to turn their fear into absolute reverence, even a faith engraved into their very bones!

When he led The Convoy to become stronger and stronger, wherever he went, he would be respected and praised—that was the kind of prestige a leader in the apocalypse should have!

Looking at the hundred or so survivors before him, Zhou Che was filled with mixed emotions. These people were the foundation for him to dominate the apocalypse and compete for strange objects in the future; he had to hold them firmly in his own hands.

After walking for a short while, Zhou Che returned to the RV. The scene before him made his eyes light up, and the gloom in his heart dissipated by more than half.

Lin Wan's Mechanic Sequence was indeed useful. In just a short time, the battered RV had already been repaired to its original state.

The hole in the engine had been completely patched, and it ran smoothly and silently, without a trace of noise;

the hole in the back of the cabin was sealed perfectly tight, not letting in a single bit of sand or wind;

the brand-new front windshield was installed, the dashboard fuel gauge lit up again, and the air conditioner could start normally, blowing a gentle, cool breeze that felt exactly the same as it did before the damage.

Zhou Che nodded with satisfaction and immediately instructed Lin Wan, "Go, call all the management over to hold a meeting around the campfire. I have important matters to discuss."

Before long, Lin Wan, Captain Liu Ruyan, Ruan Xiaoxiao, and Wang Zhiming all sat around the campfire.

The campfire crackled, sparks splattering everywhere, casting flickering light and shadows on everyone's faces, making the atmosphere exceptionally solemn.

Zhou Che sat in the main seat and got straight to the point, his tone crisp and decisive:

"Our convoy currently has only six Transcendents, all told. The manpower is too low, and our combat power is completely inadequate; we are stretched thin whenever we encounter even the slightest issue."

"Today, during the skirmish between the two convoys, I saw that among the ordinary survivors, there were quite a few people capable of taking on major responsibilities and who were loyal and willing to work. I intend to promote a few more people to awaken a Sequence and bolster The Convoy's combat power. Do you have any suitable candidates? Speak up."

As soon as these words were spoken, the few people around the campfire were stunned for a moment, and then their eyes were filled with shock.

"Mr. Zhou was going to let people awaken a Sequence again?!"

One had to know that Transcendents were incredibly precious in the apocalypse; any one of them could support a small team, and many convoys couldn't even beg for a single Transcendent.

Yet Zhou Che was just mass-producing Transcendents. At this rate, the number of Transcendents in The Convoy would only increase, its strength would only grow, and its future would be limitless!

Everyone was silent for a moment. Wang Zhiming was conflicted, his expression shifting constantly.

The person he most wanted to recommend was his own nephew, Wang Laowu.

During today's skirmish, Wang Laowu had led a group of underlings, charging at the very front, fighting bravely without a hint of cowardice. He had protected many old and weak survivors, and had even given his all to protect his uncle, who had no power to truss a chicken.

In terms of merit, Wang Laowu was absolutely qualified, and in terms of loyalty, there was nothing more to be said.

But Wang Laowu was his own nephew; he was afraid that if he recommended him directly, people would say he was engaging in favoritism or nepotism. The words reached his lips several times, but he swallowed them back, never finding the courage to speak up.

Ruan Xiaoxiao had been sitting timidly to the side. Ever since Zhou Che bestowed a Sequence upon her and they had experienced several intimate encounters, she always felt a sense of shyness whenever she faced Zhou Che, along with a fear ingrained in her bones.

After all, Zhou Che was usually decisive in killing and had an imposing aura; in private, he was also extremely overbearing, making her both dependent on him and in awe of him.
