694: Abnormal findings

Boom, boom, boom!!!

Piercing collision sounds continuously echoed in the outer regions of the Demon Beast Forest, enveloped by the night.

An extremely strong smell of blood almost dyed the night a crimson hue.

Amidst the frantically Charging Demonic Beast horde, a figure like a God of Slaughter crashed through, leaving a trail of blood and dismembered limbs wherever he went.

In less than half an hour, the dense Demonic Beast horde thinned out, with nearly ten thousand frenzied Demonic Beasts reduced to just a few stragglers.

Bang!!

Wang Chen swung his sword, beheading a Demonic Beast, then looked around to find that there were no standing Demonic Beasts left.

“Is that all?”

Shaking the blood off his sword, a hint of dissatisfaction rose in Wang Chen’s heart.

He had just finished warming up and getting his body moving, but the Demonic Beasts were already all killed.

“It seems I’ll have to go deeper into the Demon Beast Forest later. These guys on the outskirts, even if stimulated by mysterious power, don’t pose any pressure to me at all.”

Muttering to himself, Wang Chen checked his gains.

Thanks to the abundant energy contained within these Demonic Beasts’ bodies, even with their low strength, they provided him with a considerable amount of “experience points”.

The progress bar towards level one hundred seventy-six had accumulated about one-fiftieth of the way, thanks to the selfless contribution of these tens of thousands of Demonic Beasts.

Don’t let the small number fool you; this was one-fiftieth after averaging it out.

Given the terrifying “experience points” required for Wang Chen and the few little ones to level up, this amount would be enough for other Awakeners at level one hundred seventy-five to advance a level.

“If I work hard, I might even level up tonight.”

Calculating in his mind, Wang Chen couldn’t help but smile.

This leveling speed was even faster than when he was in the Radiant Small World.

However…

“I’ve already caused such a huge commotion, so why haven’t those undead appeared yet?”

“Didn’t they say that after night falls, all areas not covered by the magic dispelling array are a paradise for these guys?”

Wang Chen wondered, his gaze sweeping behind the trees around him.

He had a faint feeling that in the unseen areas behind the trees, an unknown presence was peeking.

However, when Wang Chen extended his perception, he found nothing.

“Huh?”

Just then, Wang Chen’s gaze suddenly sharpened.

“These Demonic Beast corpses?”

He tapped his foot on the ground, instantly arriving beside the corpse of a dead Wind Wolf.

He saw that the Wind Wolf’s corpse had turned grayish-white, and the flowing blood had become almost transparent.

“This is?”

Wang Chen frowned at the sight, drew his longsword, and lightly poked the Wind Wolf’s corpse.

Whoosh!

As the sword tip touched the Wind Wolf’s corpse, the corpse instantly turned into ashes, as fragile as a mummified corpse that had been air-dried for countless years.

“The residual life force in the corpse has been completely absorbed?”

Seeing this, a grave look flashed in Wang Chen’s eyes.

He had already realized that some unknown power was devouring the remaining power from these corpses, and at an extremely fast rate.

Wang Chen looked around the chaotic battlefield; over eighty percent of the Demonic Beasts he had slain had corpses that looked exactly like the Wind Wolf’s just now.

And the rest were gradually transforming into this state.

“What exactly is devouring the remaining energy from these corpses?”

Wang Chen released his perception, but found nothing.

In his perception, the surroundings were calm, with no unusual energy fluctuations.

This made Wang Chen feel quite tricky.

“I’ll withdraw first, figure out these anomalies, and then re-enter the Demon Beast Forest.”

The unknown represents incalculable danger.

At this moment, Wang Chen was unwilling to be greedy and rush forward.

Having made his decision, he turned directly and headed towards Green Field Town.

And after he left.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!!!

The previously calm battlefield suddenly had howling winds.

On the ground, the speed at which the Demonic Beast corpses were devoured suddenly increased tenfold, even a hundredfold, turning into ashes almost in the blink of an eye.

Green Field Town.

After dawn, the sunlight scattered over the town, awakening its vitality.

One by one, people began to emerge from their tightly closed houses and windows.

However, at this time, almost everyone had dark circles under their eyes, yawning constantly, and looking utterly exhausted.

Clearly, no one had slept well last night.

“What exactly happened last night?”

“The commotion outside was so loud; the roars of those Demonic Beasts almost scared me to death!”

“Damn it! Don’t even mention it. The noise last night was even louder than the last time Demonic Beasts attacked the town!”

Stepping out of their homes, familiar people gathered together, chattering about what happened last night, many with fear on their faces.

Demonic Beasts attacking the town was no small matter!

If not handled carefully, the entire Green Field Town could turn into ruins.

However…

“You guys worry less. At night, Demonic Beasts simply cannot attack the town.”

A passing sorcerer heard the townspeople’s discussion and couldn’t help but roll his eyes, saying:

“When night falls, these Demonic Beasts are corroded by the power of the undead, and the power emitted by the magic dispelling array is what they fear most.”

“Greetings, Your Excellency.”

Seeing the sorcerer, the townspeople quickly bowed and greeted him. Then, seeing that the sorcerer was relatively approachable, a burly man among the townspeople bravely asked:

“Your Excellency, do you know what happened last night?”

“This humble one has lived in Green Field Town for ten years, and this is the first time I’ve encountered a situation like last night’s.”

“Haha!”

Hearing the big man’s words and seeing the respectful gazes of the surrounding people, the sorcerer felt a bit elated.

He cleared his throat, then said:

“The commotion last night was likely due to a Senior traveling at night who encountered Demonic Beasts.”

“After all, at night, these Demonic Beasts are corroded by the power of the undead, becoming ten times more ferocious than during the day, and will go mad at even a trace of a scent.”

“So that’s how it is.”

The townspeople were a bit bewildered, and at the same time, they all wondered how powerful this Senior must be to be able to travel through the Demon Beast Forest at night.

Seeing that the townspeople no longer asked questions, the sorcerer walked towards the town square in a pleasant mood.

But just then, a voice suddenly sounded in his ear.

“Brother, may I trouble you for a moment?”

The sorcerer paused, turning his head to look behind him.

He saw a handsome young man in a light blue robe with short hair, looking at him with a smile.

“Your Excellency is?”

The sorcerer initially didn’t want to bother, but then he realized he couldn’t sense the strength of the other party’s aura at all, and his expression couldn’t help but become serious.
