992: Conjecture

Night fell.

Under the glow of Canglan City's Guardian Array defense barrier, three teams ascended into the sky.

"Last night, we confirmed our patrol route. Tonight, we will continue to patrol along this route."

"Remember to maintain contact at all times. Once you detect anything amiss, immediately give the warning!"

In the air, Kahn looked at Ogre and the leader of another patrol team, instructing them.

"Yes."

Upon hearing this, Ogre and the other Dead Spirit Race powerhouses nodded in acknowledgment.

However, just as Kahn was about to leave, Ogre suddenly spoke, asking:

"Sir, what about the Holy City?"

His tone was hesitant, and a hint of imperceptible panic was in his eyes.

The events that transpired in Nether City had, after a day of fermentation, already spread to Canglan City.

Qing Yunzi, the Human Race's strongest powerhouse, suddenly descended upon Nether City and severely wounded Ambrose, City Lord of the Holy City...

Upon receiving this news, Ogre and his subordinates were filled with anger.

The outbreak of this battle essentially signaled the complete rupture of the peace agreement between the two races.

It wouldn't be long before a major war would definitely erupt.

Regarding war, Ogre and the other Dead Spirit Race powerhouses were not afraid at all; deep down, they yearned to return to the era when the Human Race could be freely used as blood sustenance.

But...

The high-ranking officials of the race and the Great Priest High Priest Tiemoluo had not made any response to this matter, not even issuing an order to prepare for battle. This cast a shadow over the expectations in the hearts of Ogre and the other Dead Spirit Race powerhouses, forcing them to overthink.

One must know that, in terms of overt strength, the Dead Spirit Race was stronger than the Human Race, yet they did not retaliate against such provocation.

This made Ogre and his group suspect that some significant change had occurred within the race, leading them to choose to pacify the situation in the face of the Human Race's aggression.

"Don't ask about matters that aren't for you to consider!"

Kahn's expression darkened, and he looked at Ogre with oppressive eyes:

"The Great Priest and the high-ranking officials of the race have their own ways of handling this. Our urgent priority now is to deal with Wang Chen."

"Hurry up and patrol."

After speaking, Kahn directly turned and flew towards the area he was responsible for.

Even though he spoke harshly just now, he was actually very unsure in his heart.

As one of the fifteen overt Peak Late Stage Ninth Stage powerhouses of the Dead Spirit Race, and also the City Lord of Black Abyss City in the Upper Five Cities, Kahn's status within the Dead Spirit Race was second only to the Great Priest High Priest Tiemoluo. In every sense, he was an absolute high-ranking official.

Yet, despite this, he currently had no idea what the situation was like in the Holy City.

Ambrose had half his life beaten out of him, and the clansmen in the Holy City were furious, demanding to flatten the Human Race and exact blood for blood.

But in response, the Great Priest High Priest Tiemoluo stepped forward and suppressed them, performing an action that no one could understand.

Kahn now had no idea what the Great Priest High Priest Tiemoluo was thinking.

"Damn Human Race!"

"Sooner or later, I'll turn all of you into blood sustenance!"

Hating in his heart, Kahn suppressed the inexplicable worry that arose and released his Divine Thought to survey the surroundings.

...

On the other side.

Ogre, along with Sosis and three other Early Stage Ninth Stage Dead Spirits, headed east.

During their flight, the worry on his face never faded.

Kahn thought his stern attitude could dispel the wild thoughts of Ogre and the other Dead Spirit Race powerhouses, but little did he know, it only further fueled their anxieties.

Clearly stronger than the Human Race, yet doing nothing and choosing to swallow their anger!

This was simply too problematic!

"Could it be that the Great Priest is nearing his Lifespan limit?"

Ogre absentmindedly surveyed the ground below, and a terrifying conjecture surfaced in his mind, one that, once it appeared, he could not suppress for a long time.

Because this conjecture had a high probability of being true.

Although Ninth Stage powerhouses could live for hundreds of years, without a Breakthrough to the Tenth Stage, they could not break the thousand-year Lifespan limit.

Even with various longevity-extending treasures, it was no exception.

The current Peak Late Stage Ninth Stage Great Priest High Priest Tiemoluo was already very, very old. He had been active on the battlefield against the Human Race since the Dead Spirit Race descended into the Netherworld, almost a thousand years ago.

If High Priest Tiemoluo was indeed nearing his Lifespan limit, that would explain why he chose this method of handling the aggressive Human Race and why he stepped in to suppress his enraged clansmen.

Everything made sense!

Thinking of this, Ogre's eyes gradually became terrified. He felt as if he had discovered an astonishing truth.

Over the years, High Priest Tiemoluo, who had gradually risen through bloody battles with the Human Race, was like heaven to the Dead Spirit Race, an Incarnation of the Mother God's will.

If he died, for the Dead Spirit Race, it would be no different from the sky collapsing.

The more he thought about it, the more reasonable it seemed. In the end, Ogre was completely enveloped by dread.

Without the Great Priest, and having lost their top-tier combat power and leader, what would become of the Dead Spirit Race? How would they deal with the Human Race?

They might even be annihilated by the despicable Human Race!

"Is Heaven trying to destroy my Holy Race?"

At this moment, Ogre thought with immense sorrow, completely immersed in the world he had imagined.

And just then, Ogre suddenly felt a dark shadow appear beside him.

"Don't you understand the rules? Stay obediently behind me!"

He thought it was one of his subordinates and instinctively reprimanded them.

However, the next second, he was startled and realized that this dark shadow was not his subordinate, but a human.

Because this guy didn't have that graceful insect tail!

"Damn it!"

Without time to think, Ogre instantly mobilized the Qi in his body and threw a punch.

Under the surge of powerful Qi, his entire arm almost thickened by a circle.

Rumble!

The terrifying force vibrated the space, creating continuously expanding white Qi waves that passed directly through the dark shadow, striking a giant crater into the ground below.

However, despite landing a blow, Ogre did not relax his guard in the slightest; instead, a bad feeling arose in his heart.

A phantom!

He missed!

"Watch out for the en..."

He roared, about to warn his four other subordinates.

Bang!

But at that moment, with a dull thud, Ogre felt a sharp pain at the back of his head, seeing stars, and his entire body plummeted heavily towards the ground under a terrifying force.

After taking that hit, Ogre was instantly stunned, feeling as if his brain had nearly been shattered, and blood gushed from his ears and nose.

"Wang Chen!"

"Damn it, it's Wang Chen!"

"Quick, send the signal! Hurry and save the City Lord!"

The four other Early Stage Ninth Stage Dead Spirits following behind discovered the anomaly and also noticed the presence that had suddenly appeared in the field, shouting loudly.

At the same time, they frantically roused their Qi, launching attacks at Wang Chen.

However, at this moment, facing the attacks of these Early Stage Ninth Stage Dead Spirits, Wang Chen chose to ignore them directly.

Bang!

He stomped, exploding the air, and without hesitation, caught up to Ogre, who was falling towards the ground, then brutally smashed a fist, carrying the momentum of his charge, downwards.
