954: United We Stand

The once prosperous Sand Dune Town was now nothing but ruins.

Trenches crisscrossed everywhere, like wounds tearing through the earth.

Fragments of flesh and blood mixed with the dirt and rubble filled the entire ruin with a dense smell of blood, and occasionally, when a strong wind howled past, one could vaguely hear wails.

What met the eye was like a ghost realm!

Under the night, figures exuding powerful auras landed one after another on the ruined ground.

“The disturbed magic here has not yet calmed down.

Wang Chen should have just left.

Sir, should we pursue him?”

Ogre spread his Divine Thought to sense his surroundings, and after a moment, a cold light flashed in his eyes as he turned to ask Kahn.

In his perception, the dark magic in the surrounding world fluctuated like the sea after a storm, suggesting that the great battle here had ended no more than half an hour ago.

“That damned Wang Chen will definitely not be our opponent!”

As he spoke, Killing Intent continuously surged from Ogre, and his cold Killing Intent almost froze the surrounding space.

“No!”

“With Wang Chen’s strength, if we pursue him now, it will be impossible to intercept him before he enters Wanshou City.”

Kahn slowly shook his head.

He looked at the devastated scene around him, his eyes as deep as an abyss, and the occasional ripples stirred up contained monstrous Killing Intent.

He had been ordered by the High Priest High Priest Tiemoluo to intercept Wang Chen here, but now he hadn't even seen Wang Chen, a gathering place of nearly ten thousand tribesmen had been annihilated, and a Middle Stage Ninth-Order expert of his tribe had died.

Such losses intensified Kahn’s Killing Intent towards Wang Chen.

“Sir, isn’t Wang Chen’s behavior a bit too illogical?”

“Why did he leave Wanshou City late at night, attack Sand Dune Town, and even use Sand Dune Town as a bait to lure Canglan City to send aid? What good does that do him?”

Beside him, Cassidy asked with a frown as she looked around.

Unlike Ogre and the other Dead Spirits whose Killing Intent was boiling, though she was angry at the moment, she was more confused.

Actively attacking a Dead Spirit gathering place and using Sand Dune Town as bait to lure Canglan City to act…

To do all this, if it was merely because Wang Chen hated the Dead Spirit Race, the explanation was too far-fetched.

And if it was for plundering resources, that was even more impossible.

A Ninth-Order True Lord Awakener would absolutely not put himself in danger or contend with Awakeners of the same Rank for a trivial amount of resources.

This could be seen from the fact that the various Materials in Sand Dune Town’s treasury were untouched.

Wang Chen had not come to plunder resources at all.

“Could it be…”

Cassidy spoke, thinking of a guess:

“Those old Human Race fellows know about our plan, and Wang Chen’s action is a warning to us!”

“Or perhaps, since the destruction of Blade City’s gathering place, we haven’t made a strong reaction, making those old Human Race fellows think we are weak, and now they are using Wang Chen to probe.”

“Warning? Probing?”

Upon hearing Cassidy’s guess, Kahn’s pupils involuntarily constricted, and his expression became extremely solemn.

“What you said is indeed very possible.

Since the signing of the peace treaty, our race has been accumulating strength for a major undertaking, and the Human Race must also be making similar preparations.”

“Not long ago, Blade City, a city-level gathering place, was destroyed, and Ambros merely put pressure on the Human Race old monsters at the meeting, without making any substantial response.

This probably made those Human Race old monsters suspicious, and they are using Wang Chen to test our bottom line!”

The more Kahn spoke, the more he felt his thoughts were correct.

The Human Race was probing them little by little.

If Canglan City and its subordinate gathering places were destroyed again, and they did not make a strong response, those Human Race old monsters would probably launch a second racial war.

“Currently, our race’s plan is at a critical juncture, and there must be no major turmoil at this time.”

Kahn thought to himself, saying with Killing Intent:

“We must quickly kill Wang Chen to let those damned Human Race know our power, otherwise, they will become even more aggressive.”

“Yes!”

Ogre and the other Dead Spirit Awakeners nodded upon hearing this.

The death of Rondo and the destruction of Sand Dune Town’s gathering place made them very clear that continued evasion would not lead to a good outcome.

If it was truly as Kahn said, then Canglan City had become meat in the Human Race’s eyes, eager to devour it.

If they did not make a strong counterattack at this time, what awaited them would be even more wanton slaughter.

Many of the Dead Spirits present would be at risk of death.

“Good!”

Kahn turned and saw this scene, nodding with satisfaction.

Previously, Ogre and the others had repeatedly shirked, which made him quite displeased, but now, upon seeing this, these fellows still understood the greater good.

Now that they were united, why worry about not being able to deal with Wang Chen!

“Let’s go, we’ll return to Canglan City first!”

“The matter of killing Wang Chen requires careful planning.

You all transmit orders to your subordinate gathering places separately; the Guardian Array will remain active during this period.”

Kahn gave an order and was the first to fly towards Canglan City.

When Kahn and the Dead Spirit Awakeners of Canglan City reached an agreement, Wang Chen had already returned to his residence in Wanshou City.

With his current strength, no one discovered that he had gone out tonight, and only Xuanqing Snake King, who had been guarding the room, slightly detected a movement.

Wang Chen casually responded a few times, and Xuanqing Snake King once again began to fall into a deep sleep.

Since entering the Ninth-Order, this fellow seemed to have begun a secondary growth, always sluggish, and when he caught a glimpse of Wang Chen, he thought he was getting up in the night, showing no Ninth-Order vigilance at all.

“The Earth Vein Azure Ox has reached the limit of its juvenile growth stage.

Once she completes her promotion to the adolescent stage, the attribute ratio feedback to me will increase to twenty percent.”

“This way, my various attributes can increase by at least dozens of points.”

Lying on the bed, Wang Chen calculated his next actions.

Once the Earth Vein Azure Ox completes her promotion, then her Rank will continue to rise like a rocket.

After all, the enemies he faced now were all very powerful, equivalent to over a hundred Ranks higher than the Earth Vein Azure Ox if converted to Blue Star Awakener Ranks.

In this situation, even if the experience points gained needed to be divided, it was still an immense amount for the Earth Vein Azure Ox.

“It will be good once the Earth Vein Azure Ox enters her youth stage.

At that time, the attribute feedback ratio will reach thirty percent, and her Rank limit will be the same as mine, so there’s no need to worry about being stuck in the short term.”

“Tomorrow, I’ll find Bai Yuliang and have him take me around Wanshou City to look for the primary Material for the Earth Vein Azure Ox’s promotion to the adolescent stage: red soil essence.”

“This thing would only be considered an S-grade magic Material on Blue Star, so it shouldn’t be rare here in the Netherworld.”

Thinking of this, Wang Chen cleared his mind and began to rest.
