814: The old man who is not dead is a thief

The invasion of the Dead Spirit Race occurred a thousand years ago.

At that time, Dominara, the Mother Goddess of the Dead Spirit Race, used her supreme power to pollute the Origin of the world, forcibly creating the division of day and night, and bringing forth the unprecedented Dead Spirit power throughout the world.

After that, she created the Dead Spirit Race.

Before this thousand-year mark, the Netherworld was vibrant and there was no such thing as Dead Spirit power.

This led to the fact that the Heaven and Earth Secret Realms now appearing in the Netherworld are inaccessible to the Dead Spirit Race; or rather, entering them would result in immediate purification.

Because these Heaven and Earth Secret Realms still retain the geographical features of the Netherworld from a thousand years ago, there is no Dead Spirit power present in the world.

And an environment without Dead Spirit power is like a fish out of water on land for the Dead Spirit Race, with a death countdown hanging over their heads.

Not only are they targeted by the rules of Heaven and Earth, but their own power also slowly dissipates over time.

Therefore, except for the initial discovery of Heaven and Earth Secret Realms, when the Dead Spirit Race would send suitable clansmen to cause trouble for the Human Race, they chose to ignore subsequently discovered Heaven and Earth Secret Realms.

After all, causing trouble is fine, but sacrificing the lives of clansmen for it is a losing business!

At this moment.

In the City Lord's Mansion hall, City Lord Guger's cloudy eyes gazed at Zoltan, and although he didn't use any power, Zoltan felt immense pressure.

"City Lord, your subordinate wishes to encircle and annihilate these Human Race Strong who have come deep into the Demon Beast Forest, capturing them all in one fell swoop."

"With the Great Sacrifice imminent, these fresh flesh and blood offerings will surely allow you, City Lord, to receive more Mother Goddess blessings, and the power of our Blade City will become even stronger."

"Your subordinate and Doreina request your permission to lead the Guardian Legion soldiers to do this."

Zoltan respectfully lowered his head and quickly stated his thoughts.

"Is that so?"

After listening to Zoltan, Gugor leaned back in his chair, his eyelids seemingly drooping powerlessly, obscuring his cloudy eyes.

"Your proposal is indeed very beneficial to Blade City. I have no reason to disagree. However, you surely didn't come here today just for this, did you?"

Gugor said, seemingly a little weak.

"City Lord, your Wisdom Eye is like a torch!"

Zoltan nodded, suppressing the excitement in his heart, and said respectfully:

"Among the Human Race Strong who entered the Demon Beast Forest, there is a Ninth Realm Middle Stage hiding in the shadows. Your subordinate is worried about being obstructed by him during the operation and hopes that you, City Lord, can provide some assistance."

"Ninth Realm Middle Stage, you say?"

"With your strength, you indeed cannot deal with him, especially since the strength of the soldiers you lead is not what it used to be."

Gugor looked at Zoltan with a faint smile and nodded slightly.

Hearing his words, Zoltan's body trembled involuntarily, and a chill suddenly rose within him.

He understood Gugor's unspoken meaning: he had long known about the death of the four Great Commanders under his command.

However, Zoltan was somewhat puzzled as to why Gugor, knowing this, had not summoned him for questioning until now.

Thoughts churned in his mind, and Zoltan didn't know how to respond. The atmosphere in the hall became somewhat silent.

However...

Gugor did not dwell on the topic. Looking at the silent Zoltan with his head bowed, he subtly curled his lips and continued in that weak tone:

"Go ahead and do it. Make sure to capture all the Human Race who have come to the Demon Beast Forest. As for that Ninth Realm Middle Stage Human Race Strong hiding in the shadows, if he makes a move against you, I will intervene."

"Alright, you may leave."

After speaking, Gugor waved his hand, dismissing Zoltan and Doreina.

...

Outside the City Lord's Mansion.

"City Lord... does he already know everything?"

Doreina looked back at the City Lord's Mansion, then turned to Zoltan, asking with a complicated tone.

"I don't know."

Zoltan replied, his head lowered, his tone devoid of emotion:

"We don't have many choices. Even if he knows, we must continue with our plan."

"Otherwise, we will never have the opportunity to advance to the Ninth Realm Middle Stage!"

As he spoke, Zoltan looked up at the tall Mother Goddess Statue, then continued:

"Gugor is too old. He has been in the City Lord's position for two hundred years. If he hadn't used the blessings bestowed by the Mother Goddess during the annual Great Sacrifice to extend his lifespan, we would have already Broken Through to a higher Realm."

"There's a saying among the Human Race that goes, 'An old man who doesn't die is a thief!'"

"This is my only chance. This matter originally had nothing to do with you, but you insisted on getting involved. If you regret it now, you can turn back and confess to the City Lord."

At this point, Zoltan turned and looked at Doreina with a profound gaze.

"I..."

Doreina pursed her lips, her expression constantly changing, but finally settling into determination.

"You are right, an old man who doesn't die is a thief!"

"We have already contributed enough to Blade City. If this old fellow Gugor won't give it to us, then we will fight for it ourselves!"

Hearing this, Zoltan gave Doreina a deep look and slowly withdrew his gaze.

"Then, let's go gather the soldiers now!"

Leaving a sentence, Zoltan drifted away.

...

The Guardian Legion of Blade City has a total of only one thousand five hundred soldiers. Even with the three Great Commanders and eighteen Commanders, the total is only one thousand five hundred and twenty-one.

However, this force is the most powerful in Blade City, second only to City Lord Guger!

Zoltan and Doreina returned to their respective areas to muster their troops, and soon they rendezvoused with the soldiers outside Blade City.

For this expedition, they led two-thirds of the strength of Blade City's Guardian Legion.

One thousand Seventh Realm, eight Eighth Realm Peak, plus Zoltan and Doreina, both Ninth Realm Early Stage.

This force would make any first-rate Human Race power in the Netherworld tremble, and even if it faced the Chu Kingdom alone, it would be enough to cripple the Chu Kingdom before being completely annihilated itself.

"According to the reports from the dispatched warriors, the force we are leading is sufficient to deal with the Human Race Strong gathered deep in the Demon Beast Forest."

"As long as the Ninth Realm Middle Stage hiding in the shadows doesn't make a move, our objective can be easily achieved."

Outside Blade City, looking at the ready-to-depart soldiers, Zoltan was in high spirits, as if he could already see his future of stepping into the Ninth Realm Middle Stage.

"Do not underestimate the Human Race; these fellows are the most cunning and sly. Perhaps some of them are still hiding their true strength."

Doreina was not as optimistic as Zoltan; her expression remained solemn.

"No need to worry!"

"Even if there are Ninth Realm Strong hidden among these Human Race, with the City Lord secretly backing us, we have nothing to fear!"

Zoltan smiled, comforted Doreina, and then, with a wave of his arm,

"Depart!"
