128: The Desperate Commander Fan

Seeing his superior determined to eliminate Qin Shi Lei at all costs, the adjutant was drenched in a cold sweat.

His eyes darted around, and he suddenly recalled a piece of information from the intelligence report.

“The intelligence report says that the General Commander’s daughter also went there. She’s his most beloved daughter. If anything happens to her, he’ll probably never rest until he gets revenge.”

Commander Fan, remembering Commander Kong, who always had the upper hand, felt a hint of apprehension.

After a moment of thought, he coldly ordered, “Keep a close eye on him. The moment you find an opportunity, blast him to death.”

The adjutant wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and quickly assented.

His superior was truly insane, actually planning to bomb thousands of people at once.

The situation in Nanzhuang City was complex right now. If he did that, his superior would be jointly attacked by others. When he fell, the adjutant wouldn't fare well either.

For the sake of his own future, the adjutant racked his brains, then suddenly suggested, “We can find a reason to trick Qin Shi Lei out. Once he enters the ambush, we can bombard him with dense artillery shells.”

Without satellite navigation, various artillery pieces had almost no accuracy when striking moving targets.

However, for stationary, close-range targets, the accuracy was much higher.

Several bridges were accurately destroyed after precise calculations by the artillerymen.

Commander Fan nodded in agreement, “Alright, you go handle it.”

Soon, an officer rushed from the military camp towards Chiyuan Mansion.

“Commander Qin, the military headquarters requests your presence to discuss the specific details of retaking Nanzhuang City,” the officer directly conveyed the military headquarters’ order.

“Military headquarters’ order?” Kong Qingshu asked in confusion, “Why am I not aware of this military headquarters’ order? And why would it be conveyed by you?”

The officer explained, “This is an urgent order from the military headquarters. Since Lieutenant Colonel Kong couldn't be reached immediately, I was sent to convey it.”

“Is that so?” Kong Qingshu looked at the other party suspiciously, then turned to Mu Ziping and said, “Commander Mu, go find out the exact situation.”

Mu Ziping acknowledged and turned to run towards the military camp.

The officer saw this and inwardly cursed, only able to pretend to be calm and say, “The military headquarters’ order has been conveyed. I will return to report now. Farewell.”

After speaking, he hurriedly left Five Villa.

About half an hour later, Mu Ziping rushed back, informing them that there was no meeting at all.

Qin Shi Lei thought for a moment and understood the reason: “It must be Commander Fan’s trick.”

He then briefly explained his grievances with Commander Fan.

Kong Qingshu stood up abruptly, fuming, “I’m going to find my dad right now! What exactly does Fan want to do?”

Qin Shi Lei stopped her, “Don’t go. Although your father is the General Commander, Fan hasn’t done anything yet, so your dad can’t do anything to him.”

An Qian interjected, “Qin Shi Lei, we need to be careful. Fan definitely has ill intentions.”

Zhang Xiaoli also added, “Maybe they’ve installed a large amount of explosives in that conference room.”

Qin Shi Lei considered it; there was indeed a high possibility.

Being hated by someone who held such great power, he didn't know what tricks the other party would pull.

Not only was he in danger, but even those around him were probably in danger.

Qin Shi Lei’s heart hardened, and the thought of immediately going to the military headquarters to kill Fan arose.

He turned to ask Kong Qingshu for Commander Fan’s whereabouts, but then suddenly felt a bit distrustful of her and stopped himself.

Kong Qingshu opened her mouth and asked, “What are you hesitating to say?”

“Nothing, I’m just going out for a walk.”

Qin Shi Lei then turned to An Qian and the others, instructing them, “Be careful and arrange for people to patrol the surroundings.”

After speaking, he summoned Little Strong and flew off into the distance.

“He wouldn’t be thinking of going to kill Fan, would he?” Kong Qingshu looked at Qin Shi Lei, who had disappeared into the horizon, and asked doubtfully.

“How could that be?” An Qian immediately denied, “He’s just going to the bridge to check on the zombies’ movements.”

“No, you can’t fool me. He definitely wants to go kill someone,” Kong Qingshu said with certainty.

“Sister Qingshu, you must have read too many novels. That’s a Deputy General Commander with great power, located in a heavily guarded military camp. How could Qin Ge go kill him?”

Zhang Xiaoli chuckled, as if chiding Kong Qingshu for her wild imagination.

“You guys are really something. Why didn’t you stop him?” Kong Qingshu was a little anxious. “The military camp is a vital area. Even if he could kill Fan, how could he escape unscathed?”

“I told you not to overthink it. Qin Shi Lei wouldn’t be so irrational.”

Although An Qian said this, she was secretly worried about Qin Shi Lei’s safety.

She knew that Qin Shi Lei was indeed going to investigate Commander Fan’s whereabouts.

As for whether he would have the chance to kill Fan, she didn't know.

More than an hour later, Qin Shi Lei finally returned amidst everyone's worries.

He had been flying on Little Strong above the General Command Headquarters the whole time, but he hadn't found Commander Fan.

Instead, he almost attracted helicopters, so he had to come back and make new plans.

Kong Qingshu proactively asked, “Are you trying to find out Commander Fan’s whereabouts?”

Qin Shi Lei chuckled, trying to explain, “No, I just went out for a stroll.”

“Commander Fan doesn’t get along with my dad, so you don’t have to worry about me telling on you,” Kong Qingshu said frankly. “He usually stays at the General Command Headquarters, but the security there is tight, so you shouldn’t take the risk.”

Qin Shi Lei frowned, “Does he never leave the military camp?”

Not to mention how difficult it was to infiltrate the military camp, even if he could kill the other party, it would likely provoke hostility from the military, which was definitely not a wise choice.

“His family is all inside the General Command Headquarters, so he rarely comes out,” Kong Qingshu paused, then added, “Occasionally, he will also inspect other military camps, but the timing for that cannot be determined.”

Qin Shi Lei pondered for a moment, then still asked, “Can you give me a map of his residence?”

“It’s too dangerous to infiltrate the military camp and assassinate him,” Kong Qingshu suggested. “It would be better to use my dad’s influence to bring him down. Once he loses his identity as Deputy General Commander, you won’t even need to act; he won’t have a good outcome.”

“I don’t want to, nor am I willing to, get involved in the power struggles between you big shots. Let’s leave it at that.”

Qin Shi Lei directly stopped the topic.

Kong Qingshu opened her mouth, but in the end, said nothing more.

Just then, Mu Ziping walked in from outside.

“Commander, in twenty minutes, it will be our turn to defend Luyang Bridge. Who do you think would be best to send?”

Qin Shi Lei replied, “I’ll take the Eight Company Commander and them. You all rest first.”

After speaking, he gave another set of instructions, then led the Eight Company Commander towards Luyang Bridge.

Kong Qingshu, however, insisted on following along.

She said that as his adjutant, she naturally had to stay by the Commander’s side.

In reality, she wanted to witness Qin Shi Lei’s true strength.

Kong Qingshu was very curious about the

Nanzhuang City's top expert

that everyone was rumored to be.
