2: Almost crashed system

The All Things Entry Refresh System hadn't fully loaded yet, so Qin Shilei focused his attention outside the building.

Cries, shouts, and pleas for help intertwined into a cacophony.

Behind the balcony was a path leading to the teaching building, and now a scene of the apocalypse was unfolding there.

Three students who had fortunately not turned into zombies were being chased and bitten by seven or eight classmates who had already become zombies.

Although these zombies' movements were somewhat stiff, their speed was not slow at all, and they quickly caught up to a girl running at the very back.

They embraced the girl and bit into her neck.

The girl screamed and struggled, but she was quickly bitten until she was covered in blood and eventually fell silent.

“Mom, where are you now?”

“Okay, you stay home, I’ll be back soon.”

“I’ll be fine, you must lock the doors and windows tightly.”

Hearing that her mother was safe, An Qian breathed a sigh of relief. She hung up the phone and wanted to push the bed aside and rush home.

Qin Shilei quickly stopped her, “Hey, shouldn’t you calm down?”

“How far is your home from here?”

“In this situation, are you sure you can get home safely?”

“I’m afraid you won’t see your mother again once you step out.”

An Qian raised her hand, pointing her long sword at Qin Shilei, and said coldly, “Get out of my way. My mom is alone. What will she do if I don’t go back?”

Qin Shilei moved to the left, clearing the path, and concentrated, ready to close the door immediately.

This was her choice; as a stranger, one warning was enough.

Once she died, he would make sure to keep her sword.

“Wuwuwu!”

An Qian ultimately did not act impulsively, but tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

Her home was in another city, over a hundred kilometers away.

If she went out now, she might not even make it out of the campus before dying.

Qin Shilei glanced at the long sword in her hand and then walked towards the balcony.

The girl who had just been bitten downstairs stood up again, walking aimlessly.

As expected, being bitten by a zombie turns one into a zombie.

He looked at the System in his mind.

It was still starting up.

There was only “.......” and no progress bar.

Would this cheat be cleared as a virus?

Qin Shilei became very uneasy, not even having the heart to explore the game interface in the upper left corner.

“Ding, startup error, restarting.”

Boss, don’t scare me.

Qin Shilei prayed to all the gods and buddhas in his heart.

Five minutes later, the System finally changed.

“Ding, All Things Entry Refresh System successfully activated.”

“At this stage, there are five refreshes per day, and three entries can be fixed.”

“Each refresh will present three alternative entries.”

“To re-refresh an already fixed entry, it will cost double the refresh count.”

“For the same item, multiple refreshes within one day will consume more refresh counts.”

“Item advancement will increase the number of entries.”

“Phew!”

The System finally finished starting, and Qin Shilei breathed a sigh of relief.

Now, let’s see how to get a weapon first.

He looked up and saw An Qian holding a sword in one hand and talking on the phone with her mother in the other.

There was still a signal.

After waiting for her to hang up, he introduced himself, “My name is Qin Shilei, may I ask your name?”

“An Qian.” An Qian replied with two words, her face cold.

Although she now understood that he wasn’t a pervert, he had indeed taken advantage of her.

Not beating him up was already good; she wouldn’t give him a good look.

Qin Shilei didn’t care about her attitude and asked shamelessly, “Excuse me, do you have any self-defense items left in your dorm?”

An Qian looked up at Qin Shilei, not responding for a long time.

Qin Shilei’s heart rejoiced.

She had something, but she was just unwilling to give it.

Before he could appeal to her emotions or reason with her,

Suddenly, with a creak, the door was pushed open a crack, and a hand with bulging veins reached in.

Qin Shilei quickly stepped forward and firmly held the door shut.

A gentle breeze blew past him, and a cold glint flashed.

As a spray of black, foul blood splattered, that hand also dropped to the ground.

Bang, bang, bang!

The zombie whose hand had been chopped off was still banging on the door.

“I’ll open a crack in the door, let some of the zombies in, and you strike with your sword.”

Qin Shilei greatly admired her precision and courage, and he spoke directly.

After An Qian nodded in agreement, he moved the bed back, leaving a gap of twenty to thirty centimeters in the door.

First, a left hand with a severed forearm reached in, followed by half of a pale face with blood flowing from all seven orifices.

“Roar, roar.”

Auntie Dorm Manager, with her gaping bloody mouth, tried hard to squeeze inside.

Pfft!

A gush of black blood spurted out as Auntie Dorm Manager’s head was chopped off by An Qian’s sword.

What a sword!

What swordsmanship!

It seemed she really had practiced.

Qin Shilei was very glad he hadn’t thought of subduing her at first, otherwise, he might not have been able to beat An Qian even unarmed.

Looking at the disgusting zombie head, Qin Shilei felt a little like vomiting.

He turned his head and saw An Qian also leaning on the wood, retching.

Suppressing his nausea, he moved the bed back to block the door, but when he turned around, he found that An Qian had already recovered and taken out a long sword from the wardrobe.

“How about this? If you agree to one condition, I’ll give it to you.”

An Qian raised the sword in her hand.

“Accompany you home? Then I’m sorry.”

Qin Shilei frowned slightly and directly refused.

The game System said that living was the only goal.

He was just a shut-in; he had been panting nonstop after running up here in one go. What right did he have to help others?

“No, I saw that you handled things quite well just now, and I hope to fight zombies with you.”

An Qian shook her head and explained.

“No problem, not only are you beautiful, but you’re also brave and swift when killing zombies. You are a true heroine!”

Qin Shilei happily took the long sword.

A big shot offering to lead the team, only a fool would refuse.

Seeing him accept the long sword, An Qian showed a hint of a smile.

“You’ve agreed then, so the important task of luring monsters is yours.”

“Luring monsters? You’re not looking for cannon fodder, are you?”

“We are teammates; it’s just that I’ve practiced martial arts since I was young and believe I’m more suited for offense. I can only ask you to take on the task of luring monsters.”

“It’s fine if you’re the main attacker, but don’t think of making me cannon fodder to die.”

“Of course, we are teammates.”

Once they had a good talk, Qin Shilei impatiently drew the long sword in his hand.

He frowned and asked, “Why isn’t it sharpened?”

An Qian explained, “This is what I used for practice at school, so it’s not sharpened. If you don’t want it, give it back to me.”

She paused and then said, “How about we split the crystals from killing zombies evenly?”

Qin Shilei thought about it and still put away the long sword.

Not sharpened was better than being unarmed, right?

If she really wasn’t reliable, then they would go their separate ways.

A team with not much trust was temporarily formed.

“Now that you have a weapon, are you going to kill zombies with me?”

An Qian was very eager to get more crystals, improve her strength, and be able to go home to find her mother.

“We need to plan this carefully. You wait a moment.”

Qin Shilei took the long sword into the bathroom.

His gaze lingered for three seconds on the original lace in the bucket, then Qin Shilei focused his attention on the long sword in his hand.

Name: Long Sword

Quality: Common

Entry: Does not hurt hands

Description: This is an unsharpened long sword, very safe.

“Do you want to refresh the entry?”

“Refresh.”

Immediately, three light rings—one white, one blue, and one green—appeared on the long sword.

Entry qualities are divided into: Common (White), Fine (Blue), Rare (Green), Excellent (Red), Epic (Purple), Legendary (Orange), Mythical (Gold).

He clicked on the white light ring.

Sharpness: Common grade, slightly increases the sharpness of the long sword.

Then he clicked on the blue light ring.

Dazzling: Emits colorful light when wielded, extremely brilliant.

Are you sure this isn’t a joke? What does a sword need this brilliance for?

Green light ring.

Hair-splitting Blade: Rare grade sharpness, guaranteed to satisfy you.

Qin Shilei unhesitatingly chose the green light ring.

A flash of green light passed, and a gleaming treasure sword appeared in his hand.

He stabbed it into the wall, and it went in as deep as twenty to thirty centimeters.

It should be no less inferior to An Qian’s sword, perhaps even superior.

“From now on, I’ll call you Seven Star Sword,” Qin Shilei named his sword.

The entry System still had two refresh opportunities.

Wan Wu Ci Tiao, could it refresh people too?

Name: Qin Shilei

Level: Black Iron Zero Star

Experience: 0 / 10

Cultivation Method: None

“Do you want to refresh the entry?”

“Refresh.”

He could really refresh entries for himself. With a thought from Qin Shilei,

Three light rings—two white and one blue—appeared on his body.
